The Diamond Head Lighthouse
Here's another week of impressions from Hawaii when we were there recently for my daughter's wedding on June 1.
In yesterday's post, I showed you Diamond Head from the air. Grandson Nicholas and I climbed to the top of it the morning of the day we flew back home. This is the lighthouse as seen from on top of the crater. [Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

What a beautiful location. I like the different green and blue tones of the ocean.
Ginnie: The ocean waters always seemed to be changing color, Carsten. It was amazing! Thank you.
That's just beautiful. Look at all the hues in the water. I also really love that lighthouse.
Ginnie: The water hues were always changing, Red Pen. That's what I love about the ocean. And I have always been a fan of lighthouses!! Thanks.
Awesome shot, Ginnie. So much to see but I guess you've seen it in person. Thsnks for sharing.
Ginnie: Yes, I did see it in person, Mary, even on the ground level, which is so much different than seeing it from on high like this. I LOVE lighthouses!
When I was a kid I dreamed of being a Lighthouse keeper.
Your stunning picture reminds me of why that was such a beautiful fantasy, Ginnie.
Ginnie: The more I know about you, Ray, the more amazed I become. I can just picture you as a lighthouse keeper...even if for a day or two!
Okay, if I had to I guess I could get used to living there...in the lighthouse house I mean...
Ginnie: I could, too, Sherri, sorta on the same lines as living in s windmill.
Great capture ooo to be the light house keeper there
Ginnie: Yes, Vintage. I agree. What an idyllic setting for a lighthouse. I wonder if it's for show or if it's really a working lighthouse? I assume it's for real! Thanks.
This view was worth the climb I guess, I wouldn't mind living there, love the border, love the way the depth is shown.
Ginnie: It was definitely worth the climb, Astrid, no "guess" about it! Even Nicholas was enthralled. It actually wasn't quite yet at the top when we saw this...but close. I love lighthouses almost as much as windmills. They're in the same "romantic" category for me. Thanks.
The crystal clear water looks so inviting Ginnie, but it seems a bit rocky.
Love the shot fantastic composition and the lighthouse would no doubt have a great view from the top.
Ginnie: HA! Wouldn't that be fun to climb to the top of the lighthouse! I never even thought of that, since we were climbing far higher than that. It was fun to look down on it. I'm guessing the water there had many reefs for snorkeling. You would have been in your glory, Musketeer!
wow! j'aimerai beaucop habiter là
Ginnie: It does seem like an idyllic place to be, O-P!
Beautiful location!I love to travel.taking picture in traveling is interesting!
Ginnie: I can't get enough of it, Zohre. Traveling is my middle name.
Beautiful capture the water looks very inviting, well worth the climb.
Ginnie: Yes, Scotia, it was well worth the climb. We loved it. It's always a different perspective to see things from higher up, looking down. Thanks.
There is a big contrast with yesterday's picture. This is romantic whereas the town behind (?) it is too large for my taste.
Ginnie: Oh yes, Wim. You are so right. On this side of the crater, there are no high rises! I agree with you about which side fits my tastes!! Thanks.
Beautiful capture Ginnie. I really like the bird's-eye view. I would for sure want to live there!
Ginnie: It would be a fun place to live for a week, maybe, Richard, to see how things work. Totally idyllic! Thanks.
Fantastic view, beautifully captured Ginnie.
Ginnie: Ohhhh. Thank you, Aussie.
..and it might make your heart swell while looking at this beautiful lighthouse! The colours of the ocean are breathtaking!
Ginnie: I just LOVE lighthouses, Philine. I bet you do, too! Thanks.
Thats a really cool image. I really like it. The sea and the lighthouse really are cool looking.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Kanyi. I love lighthouses!!
Another lovely picture Ginnie
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Bill.
This almost looks like it could be in Cornwall, England. I guess lighthouses are the same the world over.
Ingrid
Ginnie: Maybe so, Ingrid. And I would love to "collect" them all.
Lighthouses always look so English to me, but that is just about me, Ginnie. The sea is a bit of a giveaway though.
Ginnie: I guess you're right about the sea, Chad. I never thought about that. Thanks.
Beautiful capture, Ginnie.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Bridge!
great angle...
Ginnie: Thanks, Chantal.
Lovely picture full of details... makes me want to go on hollidays!
Nice work Kind regards, LuMikSpastiek'
Ginnie: You SHOULD go on holidays, LuMik! I hope you can/do! Thanks for stopping by.
This is incredible, Ginnie! I like much since you have fitted the scene!
Ginnie: I had taken photos of this lighthouse earlier in the week, so it was very special when I saw it from above like this, José Angel. Thanks.
It seems so rare to have an overhead view of a lighthouse. I like this shot very much with the lighthouse against the ocean. Fine image.
Ginnie: I felt very lucky and honored to see this from on high, Don. You're right. I don't think I've ever seen one like this before. Thanks.
amazing water colour... very picteresque...
Ginnie: It was definitely picturesque, Sam! Thanks.
lovely scene - you can really see the different depths in the water from this angle
Ginnie: Yes, you can, Karima. You can see so many more things from this perspective! Thanks.
Wonderful! The framing is just perfect, and the blue of the water is so calming.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Caryn, for stopping by and commenting.
Absolutely stunning
Ginnie: As always, a sweetheart, Paul!
A top down perspective on a lighthouse is unusual. I like it a lot!
Ginnie: Since I had already seen it from ground level a couple days earlier, Martin, it made it that much more exciting to see it from a different perspective! Thanks.
These Hawaii photos are just stunning! I'm losing myself in the gorgeous colours and dreaming of the ocean...
Ginnie: You are such a romantic, Christina!
Just one wor...WOW!!
Ginnie: What a sweetheart, Gingeybaby. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Looks like quite a climb Ginnie, but you managed to get a very nice view of this lighthouse, and what wonderful colour sea.
Ginnie: It was definitely worth it, Brian! Thank you.
I agree with cako - that was exactly my first thought. Love the red detail too - against the blue/green ocean
Ginnie: It was definitely a delight to behold, Aksel. Thank you kindly.
Love the colors..and the aerial perspective. Beautiful colors. (The comments are working again!)
Ginnie: So glad the comments work again, Marcie. Thanks for your persistence!
Love lighthouses, this one is picture perfect. I love everything about it, I could hang it on a wall and just stare at it. Beautiful composition, Ginnie.
Ginnie: I guess we are in each other's fan club, John!
Look at that clear water! These 'above' shots have been so interesting, a different perspective, and fun!
Ginnie: And well worth the climb, dear Ruth.
Great looking lighthose Ginnie, well seen.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, dear Les.
Grandma up the crater side
Ginnie: Yup. Grandma up the crater, Louis. I'll never forget it!
Was successful climbing the hill and produced the good photograph.
Amazing...I love your the photograph. Regards From Yogyakarta Indonesia.
I think this is my favorite so far. The color of the water is awesome.
Ginnie: Thank you, Helen. It's one of my favorites, too.
Well done, Ginnie. I love it. Does Diamond Head look a little small next to the mountains nearby? It did to me when I was flying over the island on my way to kona.
Ginnie: I don't remember the comparison, Kay, so maybe I never really saw a good view of the mountain. I can imagine how it would look, however. Thanks.
What a beautiful location indeed!
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Jasper, for stopping by and commenting. That means the world to me. I am such a fan of your dad's etchings (and have purchased 2 od them)!
belle image de bord de mer ..joli phare..
Ginnie: I love lighthouses, Rima!
