The Blue Mountains
Believe it or not, this is in color!
As seen from the cable car in the last post from when we were in Australia a year ago.

In colour - heck Ginnie this is ATMOSPHERIC!
Ginnie: It was definitely that kind of a day, Chris!
Sometimes nature is monochrome--great find, friend Ginnie!
Ginnie: Yes, Larry, and you have to see it to believe it!
When the clouds roll in, the Blue mountains become magical.
beautiful Ginnie
Ginnie: It was so misty and cloudy, Tony, that we never got to see the Three Sisters. That was my only disappointment!
Ginnie,
Very dramatic, yet ominous shot!
Ginnie: Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Todd!
A phenomenal view of these beautiful mountains, Ginnie. The clouds add to a spectacular composition. What a fascinating image of this amazing place. To be there in person must have been quite an experience.
Ginnie: I think I didn't see a lot of what's there, John, but I also saw this "atmosphere" that others miss. I was glad for whatever I got because it was indeed beautiful and I'll never forget it.
Good work with the layers of mountains!
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Martin.
This is one fantastic shot mijn vriend, I love the erie atmosphere. Looking into the unknown.
Have a good week Musketeer.
Ginnie: It really was like looking into the unknown, Tracy. Little did I know that then!
Beautiful, Ginnie!
Ginnie: It really was, Mary Beth. Thanks.
Very strange indeed. I believe you
Ginnie: We photographers are such gluttons for mist and fog, aren't we, Sherri!
I suppose Nature was a bit low on Blue that day.
Love the layers here, Ginnie.
Ginnie: Yes, Ray, it was!
Look like there is a storm rolling in. Amazing shot!!!
Ginnie: We never got rained on, Helen, but it was indeed misty! Thanks.
wow.. it's amazing how devoid of color this scene is.. it's still a wonderful capture though..
Ginnie: You have to see it to believe it, I guess! Thanks, Rian.
I think I would have had a flat nose after this ride....and they had to clean the window.....I love these heights and those views, een prachtige foto met prachtige tonen van grijs, amazing.
Wonderful picture and I know you were in 'heaven' seeing this scenery.
Ginnie: Ontzettend bedankt, mijn vriend. There was so much to see and I almost didn't post this because of how little there WAS to see in this image. But sometimes that is exactly what we need to stop to look at...to find what we CAN see in the nothingness! It seemed so symbolic.
magnifique photo ainsi sous la brume. j'adore ça
Ginnie: I do think we photographers are gluttons for mist and fog, O-P. Merci!
Glad, I could be the first to comment!. Well, if you turn your computer upside down!
Ginnie: HA! You tickle me, Ken. And thank you very much.
Now Ginnie I dont see much colour here, but I do like the photo
Ginnie: Sometimes we have to look hard to see what there is in the nothingness out there, Vintage!
The layers and angles work for me.
Ginnie: Glad they do, Nigel. Thanks.
beautiful image Ginnie
Ginnie: Have you been to the Blue Mountains, Aussie? I can picture the 3 of you going there on a photo hunt.
Yes, I see it- heavenly and very atmospheric indeed!
Ginnie: Sometimes we really have to stop and LOOK, right, Philine?!
What a lovely image to share.
Ginnie: I almost didn't, Jamoula, because it was so devoid of almost everything...and then I saw the "atmosphere." Thanks.
Great you had your camera. Fine shot, and indeed no color!
Ginnie: I'd feel naked without it, Wim.
Who needs colour when you have dramatic scenery like this! Any particular reason why they are called the blue mountains?
Ingrid
Ginnie: I'm sure it's written somewhere, Ingrid, why they're called Blue. But I haven't found it yet. Actually, when things cleared up a bit later, it did have a kind of blue haze to it. I guess that's why?
You were up in the clouds there Ginnie..No wonder there's no colour. A good shot though.
Ginnie: I love being at that height, Ron.
What an atmosphere Ginnie. I love it!
Ginnie: I love the feeling...the quietness...of this kind of place, Richard. Merci.
threatening sky and clouds
Ginnie: But the good news was that we were never rained on! Thanks, Chantal.
For a minute I thought we had got mono from you Ginnie but no, this works really well being almost mono and what a lovely view.
Ginnie: Sometimes Nature really surprises us, Brian, right?! Thanks.
Such a "feel" to it. What a backdrop to a great day.
Ginnie: I almost didn't post it, Christopher, because it seemed so blah. But then I started to see all kinds of things in the nothingness...and it became highly symbolic for me!
Well you could have knocked me down with a feather./
Ginnie: Chad, you just made my day.
Reminds me quite a bit of the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, Ginnie.
Ginnie: Yes, Kathryn, you're right. Are you familiar with the watercolor artist, Vern Hippensteal, in Gatlinburg? I love his work and actually have several of his paintings, some of which are of the morning mists in the Smokies.
Sometimes the only recipe for a shot like this is time and chance... you were definitely at the right place at the right time... Great shot Ginnie!!
Ginnie: Yes, I was, Hamiliton. Good to see you again! Thanks.
Wonderful atmospheric shot Ginnie
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir.
fantastic shot considering you were in the cable car. Was the cable car moving? I love the way the fog is passing by the mountain. So moody and full of drama!
Ginnie: Yes, the cable car was moving, OSB, but while looking out far away, that wasn't a problem. It was just spectacular!
This is a gorgeous shot, so full of drama and layers.
Ginnie: Thank you, Mary. I see it as highly symbolic right now!
Ginnie, the mood is excellent ... good photographer eyes !!
Ginnie: When you see the mood, you just have to snap away, Klaus!
That is so gorgeous. Isn't Mother Nature a beauty?
Ginnie: Ohhhhh, Michael. YES!
I agree with Larry Bliss that nature is sometimes in monochrome.
Oh what a precious capture.
Ginnie: And when it is, why does it surprise us!
We had Believe it or Not on the inside of our Chappies gum wrappers - sort of Ripley's Believe it or Not.
This one is hard to believe - a great colourful picture.
Ginnie: HA! I love what you can get on the inside of wrappers, Louis. Everything I ever knew about XYZ I learned from the inside of my gum wrappers.
Amazing Ginnie. Really good shot
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Albert!
It looks very Asian...
Ginnie: How right you are, dear sir. Why didn't I see that first!
le même temps chez moi mais j'ai la couleur moi
Ginnie: Merci, Patrick!
Wow love the muted tones of this! The fog rolling over the mountains ads a great atmosphere to this shot.
Ginnie: It was a beautiful sight to behold, Andy, even if void of color!
That is just gorgeous, I would love to be flying above the canopy.
Ginnie: My kind of world, Brian!
GORGEOUS! What a great sight this must have been - and it is a great capture!
Ginnie: It was so wonderful, Martie. I'll never forget it. Thanks.
I can see a hint of green in the forest. Great capture!!
Ginnie: Yes, indeed, Fida. The hint of green is definitely there. Thanks.
Exceptional mood. Love the monochromatic b&w processing.
Ginnie: Nature surprised me that day when I later saw this image, Marcie. It really IS in color.
it's beautiful, really has a sense of the rain forest about it.
Ginnie: And the thing is, David, it IS a rain forest! Hard to believe they exist in Australia!
woah, colour!? was just thinking that it was a good conversion for this kind of shot...
Ginnie: Yes, Sam. Nature is always ready and willing to surprise us!
now that is a gray day. cool.
Ginnie: As gray as they come, Otto.
How beautiful with just clouds rolling in when some people may see it as a dreary day. Beautiful Ginnie, and I love your water signature.
Ginnie: Thank you so very much, kind sir!
It doesn't get much bluer than this
Ginnie: You were the first to say it that way, Lina...and I like it. The mountain got the blues!
