Shooting the Photographer
This is a short series of images from the Michigan cottage over our July 4th holiday weekend.
Sister Ruth, from yesterday's post, was also "shooting" with me. This is one of the photos she took while I was shooting her. [Today I'm in Amsterdam.] HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DONICA!

Firstly let me wish Donica a very happy birthday and I hope the day is perfect.
This is a gorgeous image Ginnie. Beautifully composed.
Ginnie: Thank you on both counts, Aussie. That will mean a lot to Donica.
Thats one big mirror lol.Yes happy Birthday Donica, hope she dos'nt mine us all knowing.
Ginnie: You are so right, Vintage. That's why I love the early-morning lake! It's Donica's big 5-0 so she might as well get used to everyone knowing, now that she's beginning her sunset years!
Well happy birthday to you: you Nikonite!
Nice picture Ginnie
Ginnie: Well, Donica is not really a photographer per se, Chris, so she's not even a Nikonite. But my sister sure is.
Great image. Love the soft monochromatic colors..and your good looking subject matter. Nice!
Ginnie: It was irresistible, Marcie.
Looks like a dream lake to spend a week. Maybe one day I'll rent this lake cottage from your sister.
Ginnie: It IS a dream lake, Viktor, and you can even rent it from me!
Happy Birthday to Donica!! Cathy's birthday was Friday.
Some of my favorite photos are of people taking photos. Nice capture!
Ginnie: Two Cancers then, Helen.
Wonderful capture, Ginnie. It's nice to see Ruth and it's wonderful to know what she looked like when she was capturing her morning mist image.
Ginnie: I love that there is a cross-over between our sites, Sherri. It's a small world after all!
Happy Birthday to Donica! And what a lovely photo to celebrate that birthday, Ginnie! The processing is perfect.
Ginnie: As always, thank you, dear Kay!
Happy Birthday to Donica!
Dit is een geweldige foto, shooting the shooter, the water is like a mirror, the perfect time of the day, the things you do with the colours of these pictures is just fabulous. BTW I have to admit that the picture taken by Ruth with her Nikon, is just fabulous too, so whatever we have in our hands, the photographer makes the shot
Ginnie: I love that you know my sister, Astrid, and can picture her in this image. And you are so very right that, bottom line, it's the photographer and not the camera. Even I can say that.
Another nice shot. I think i'm liking the series. Oh, Happy birthday Donnica
Ginnie: Donica will appreciate your wishes, Stan, and I appreciate your comment!
Ginnie - Loving this whole series. Great to see Ruth! Want to be included in the "Happy Birthday Wishes for Donica" on this very special day!
Ginnie: Donica sent me your online card, Judy (from Brussels), so I know she appreciates your wishes. Thank you for being in our fan club.
chaque jours tes photos sont une merveille.
merci
Ginnie: And you are a sweetheart, O-P!
Such a tranquil, serene photograph. Exquisite in detail and beautifully captured.
Ginnie: Thank you ever so kindly, Paul. It was a lovely moment in time for me!
This is such a great photograph, Ginnie. Beautiful composition, gorgeous muted tones, sharp detail, and oh that water! Looks like a pane of glass. (:o)
Ginnie: That's what I love about the early morning at the lake, Roz! Thanks.
Many happy returns to Donica on her half century Birthday. May she have health and happiness for the next half
Great shot Ginnie you have captured Ruth really well. Mornings are always the best Have a lovely day mijn vriend aand love to you both
Ginnie: That will mean a lot to Donica, Tracy. And thanks, as always, for your comment!
Happy birthday indeed to Donica. This is a beautifully composed picture Ginnie.
Ginnie: She will appreciate that, Bill. Thanks.
The first! Happy Birthday, Donica!
The photography is very pretty. To Ruth it will have liked to be hunted action in the heat of! In time, surely he would have been perfect, to retire the new boat and to fit the old boat to make a photography solely unforgettable!
Ginnie: You would love to meet Ruth, José Angel. I sure am glad we got to meet you. Donica will appreciate your birthday wishes to her!
Happy Birthday to Donica! I hope that today you both also can enjoy some tranquil, dreamy moments like these ones at the Michigan lake ("Still ruht der See") -a wonderful peaceful, graceful atmospere- I especially like the reflections of the trees and the boats - remembrances are coming back: formerly I liked to row on lonely lakes in the mountains. Ruth's photo I have admired two days ago- very beautiful! - Next week I 'll visit one of the "prachtigste waterschappen in Nederland": Giethoorn/Overijssel (like Spreewald and Venedig together!?)- a tip for the photographer-dream-team!
Ginnie: Believe it or not, Philine, Donica has been in Brussels all day and doesn't get home till 10:30 tonight. Red roses will be awaiting her...and we'll celebrate her big 5-0 another day, probably next week. That's how busy she is!
I love rowboats, so I can picture those lonely lakes in the mountains. Hmmm. We'll have to check out your tip!!
Always a good photograph - the photographer in the process of taking a photograph. And what a fabulous setting. Love those boats with the early morning light on them.
Ingrid
Ginnie: It was such a tranquil moment, Ingrid...capturing my precious sister.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DONICA from me too.
Ginnie: That will mean a lot to her, Chad. Thanks.
Oooooh, how serene Ginnie!
Ginnie: It really was, Chantal!
Happy Bday Donica, lots of love from Suby & Sinem
Ginnie: Awww. That will mean a lot to her, S&S. Thanks.
Another Classic Ginnie shot, so is that you in the picture?
Ginnie: No, Sesan. That's my sister, Ruth, from Michigan.
Oh..., Happy birthday Donica.
Ginnie: That'll mean a lot to her, Sesan. Thanks.
Happy birthday, Donica. This is a lovely lovely image, Ginnie.
Ginnie: Thank you and Thank you, my dear!
Both are very nice and I too add birthday wishes.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly to both, Mary!
Wow Ginnie that water looks like glass. Great shot and a very happy birthday to Donica.
Ginnie: I love that time of the day, Bernie, because of the glass water. And Donica will appreciate your wishes. Thanks.
There is a special calmness that I like in this one, I also like the colours, they look muted and I find that appealing here...
Ginnie: I've been in a muted frame of mind lately, Aksel.
Happy birthday to Donica!
Wonderful image with these special colours and lighting of yours Ginnie.
Ginnie: Thank you and Thank you, Richard.
what a beautiful place 4 weekend
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Hoda, for stopping by and commenting!
The tones and the reflections in this are just gorgeous!
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Mary.
great reflections..etc etc richard
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir, etc. etc.
Fantastic photo! And, I'd like to offer my birthday wishes to Donica!
Ginnie: Awww. Thanks to both, Martie.
Simplicity itself. This is, indeed, a classicand timeless portrait. Love it! You and Ruth have provided us all with such wonderful photos to enjoy. Thank you, Ginnie!
Meanwhile, not forgetting my manners, please convey my birthday wishes to Donica. HIPPO BURPDAY on the BIG 50!
Ginnie: You sure know how to say all the right things, Alex.
Ginnie, you made my days. So beautifull mood .. i feel the sense of the photographer .. i would like to be in this place .. NOW!! ;-) - Great framing .. and very good Postprocess, realy cool!
Ginnie: We make good fan clubs for each other, Klaus!
A strong photo on several levels. One is the pristine quality of the shot overall, the other is the contrast in the two water craft - old and new. A fine shot.
Ginnie: I think you know my sister, right, Don? And you may know that her husband's name is also Don.
That's a beautiful and perfect composition Ginnie. I love the warm tonality, almost autumnal... There's something very poetic here, and very peaceful. Happy Birthday then Donica !
Ginnie: It felt that way to me, too, Flo. Thank you. Donica will appreciate the birthday wishes. So glad to see you again!
Well! I'm a bit late getting to you, dear hart! Crazy day. So wow! this is a great picture, even if it has me in it (in my pyjama pants I might add - but no problem by me).
It's really been fun to see our different perspectives on the cottage this time, as always. Yes, gotta love Nikon, eh Astrid? Thank you for the honors these two posts, my love. ALL MY LOVE AND BIIIIG HUGS to Donica today!!!!! Glad we got to toast to her special day up there.
Ginnie: I just knew you'd love seeing yourself here, Ruth!
Donica was in Brussels all day on her birthday, getting hone at 10:30p. But we'll celebrate over the weekend, going to a k d lang concert here in AMS, with Astrid joining us (who has never been to a live music concert!).
I like these one person shooting another person shots Ginnie and this is very good, your sister seems totally oblivious to you at that moment. Very nice setting as well.
Ginnie: We both knew each other was there but I don't know if she knew I was taking pictures of her, Brian. It sure was fun.
Geat title Ginnie. So well composed and presented, love the reflection and colour. It all matches the brown jersey she is wearing.
Ginnie: It was pure delight, Scotia.
A lovely image Ginnie. I like it. The subtle tones give a lot of charm to this capture..
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Still!
It oozes from this picture what I like about photography. You have a nice way of capturing the quiet of the early morning...
Ginnie: Ohhh, ontzettend bedankt, Gina. That is so sweet.
Beautiful soft lights and a great location for taking photos.
Ginnie: It IS a great place, Carsten. Thank you.
It was fun to watch you and Ruth head out the door every morning and evening to catch the good light on the lake. Seeing both of you snapping away in the early morning while i sat on the porch drinking coffee was a real treat. And, thanks to the publicity of my birthday...and all the birthday wishes! They are greatly appreciated!! Oh...by-the-way, when Ruth headed down the stairs on this morning...i thought to myself, she is going to be on ShutterChance in her PJ Pants....and I was right.
Ginnie: HA! So you knew what I was going to do before I did it!
Beautiful composition, love the tones and serene setting. Didn't realize Ruth was your sister, should have known, both of you have great pictures. BTW I had to relocate my photoblog due to problems. Hope you'll visit me at www.sirius2photography.com.
Ginnie: I did indeed find your new site, John, and think it's fabulous. And I LOVE that you now know Ruth is my LITTLE sister. She's the youngest of 8 kids, 11 years my junior. We love that she's our kid sister.
Oooo that Donica is a smartie. How well you know your Ginnie.
I hope your birthday was TERRIFIC, sweetie! (to D)
Ginnie: HA! She surprised even me!
what a lovely chance to see Ruth in action in that location - thank you
Ginnie: She has told me about you, Alek, so I'm delighted to give you a peek!
The Nikon lover at her best...she looks so "far away"from the world (in what seems to be a piece of world stolen from paradise) playng with her Nikon...It's the kind of moment that the Canon owner couldn't miss
Ginnie: It's indeed another world altogether, Lina! It was so fun to peek in on her like this.
The clarity of this photo is such a punch in the face! Its amazing and goes very well with the muted colors. Great work Ginnie
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Brian. Thank you kindly.
Wow! This looks really nice..
Ginnie: I love that time of the day, Rian. Thanks.
That de-colour thing used to process the picture? Great one, however I can hardly believe it is you (hair style) or am I understanding your comment wrong? I hope Donica had a nice birthday and was spoiled by the photographer
Ginnie: This is my sister, Ruth, Louis. I was shooting the photographer!! Donica was in Brussels on her birthday but she has been spoiled since home! The big 5-0 is a biggie, for sure!
Beautiful pic, Ginnie.
Love how the reflections are almost indistinguishable from their models.
Ginnie: That's what I most love about the early morning on the lake, Ray! Thanks.
This is such a tranquil shot
Ginnie: Thank you, Bradley, for saying so. I still remember how tranquil it felt!
Lovely composition. Simplicity can be so beautiful.
Hi Ginnie,
very nice picture,I like the colors
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Zohre.
Hmmm...ekspresi memotret yang sangat serius dan selalu enjoy melihat view finder, sehingga tidak mengerti kalau di potret dari belakang...hehehe. Good moment Ginnie. Regads from Yogyakarta Indonesia.
Ginnie: This is when I wish I could speak/read your language, Bram. The words look so beautiful. Thank you.
soft colours,good shot.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, geo51, for stopping by and commenting@!
