Outstanding, Ginnie. Silly I know, but John Candy's 'The Great Outdoors' comes immediatedly to mind: "big bear CHASE ME!" Roaringly splendid weekend to you! ;-)
Ginnie: I love how images bring to mind these crazy connections, Ian. It happens to me all the time.
Flawless image, Ginnie!
Ginnie: That's too kind, Ray, but thanks anyway!
Wouldn't want to argue with him Ginnie!
Ginnie: I'm just glad he found something to eat to keep him occupied, Chris.
wowww! very beautiful shot...can't stop looking at it!
Ginnie: Awwww. Thanks, Kavita.
so good! Ginnie. between the texture of fur and fir!
Ginnie: I love your play on words, Ken. Thanks.
Like what you did with the texture, looks like an etching.
Ginnie: You can almost count every hair, right, John?
I think he's (she's?) a friendly-looking bear. Or am I being a romantic fool?
Ginnie: Nothing wrong with being a romantic fool, Larry, as long as you don't get bit too hard.
Excellent ! Very dramatic... and yes I guess it is not easy to forget such an encounter.
Happy weekend!
Ginnie: This is when you realize how BIG they are, Sidney. They look so cuddly!
Wonderful!!!!!! I love this, Ginnie. What a shot!
Ginnie: Thank you, Kay. Bears always look so cuddly, don't they!
Truly amazing Genie.
Ginnie: Someone to cuddle up to, Atunbi?
you had me holding my breath there for a moment, i thought you captured him in the wild!
Ginnie: I'm trying to remember what contained him, Rian. I think it was a high plexiglass wall that you actually could look over. It would be hard for him to jump very high, I'm sure!
Looks like a kodiak bear. So they keep those in a zoo?
Ginnie: I don't remember exactly what kind of bear it is, Sherri, but it seemed content enough to be there. Who knows?!
How close did you get? Ginnie, you always top the last one.
Ginnie: This was my 105 lens, Maria, and I see I zoomed in, so he wasn't that far away. It really is a very nice zoo and I didn't even feel sorry for him, like so many do. He seemed quite content, but who knows, right? You're a sweetheart. Thanks.
His face looks like a mask to me...like a human was behind the mask...
Ginnie: And maybe there WAS a human behind it, Ti...kinda like when WE have an animal lurking behind OUR eyes, right?!
a sun kissed bared getting all the bare necessities he can handle. Love it. It almost has a painting feel to it.
Ginnie: I started to sing "Bare Necessities," OSB.
Een prachtige foto, de vacht van de beer is zo mooi van structuur.
An outstanding picture with colours so beautiful, a likey to me. There is a saying;'look the tiger in the eye'....it is now...look at the eyes of the bear. I remember you telling me about this wonderful place and that is seems if the animals are not behind bars. http://www.sydney.com.au/zoo.htm
Ginnie: Ohhh, thanks for the link, Astrid. I had almost forgotten that you can actually see Sydney's Opera House across the harbour from the zoo. And yes, now we will say we have to look the BEAR in the eye! We'll find out he's as tame as he looks. DJW en IHVJ!
Although the bear seems to be so near to me- looking eye in eye- I'm not frightened- thanks to your toning he reminds me rather of an old beautiful childbook and in my imagination, yes, I dare to touch and to tickle him (but not to death!), sweet, dear bear! Hij lijkt een beetje op mijn teddy-beertje dat ik als klein-meisje eens bezat en van wie ik zo hield van!
Ginnie: Yes, lieve Philine, this is why we call so many men who look rough on the outside such "teddy bears" once we get to know them. He DOES look very cuddly!
Caught in the act of eating a Christmas tree.
Ginnie: And no one even cares at the moment, Kanyi, right?
He looks a friendly sort of chap.
Ginnie: I totally agree, Chad.
Superb Ginnie, love the processing
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Tony.
Great! I am always surprised by their small eyes.
Ginnie: Precies, Wim. I so agree.
WOW the processing here is on point
Ginnie: You are very kind, àsìkò, to stop by and comment. Thank you.
Great photo I live the title very good
Ginnie: Another fun time for me, Vintage, in your incredible country!
Seeing bears in captivity always makes me feel sad. It's a good shot though, he almost looks like he's in the wild.
Ingrid
Ginnie: I know what you mean, Ingrid, but I must say that in this situation I had nothing to feel sorry about when I saw him lumbering around and finding things to eat! He looked so cuddly.
Good job you mentioned zoo - I was wndering if this was an encounter in the woods ;o)
Ginnie: HA! That would be the day, Mike.
I don't think of Australia when I think of bears.
Ginnie: Neither do I, Mary!
Nice and dramatic. Is it an HDR?
Ginnie: Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Anthony. No, it is not an HDR but what I call a "cheap HDR," using the Multiply layer in PS. One day I will try the real HDR because I am such a fan of it!
He looks so sweet..doesn't he? Hard to imagine that - in the wild - he might be a threat. And - as always - I do love your processing.
Ginnie: I know, Marcie. And to think we call our rough-looking men "teddy bears" once we get to know them, right?!
A well twiddled bear Ginnie. Have a good weekend yourself
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Bill.
"..STAND STILL, DON'T MOVE.." This reminds me of an old movie I saw recently - The Edge - Starring Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin and a man eating Bear... which looked a lot like this one... However, your interpretation makes this one look cuddly...
Ginnie: This one is for sure more cuddly than that one, Hamilton, especially if Anthony Hopkins was in it. Actually, I think I saw that a long time ago. Kinda sounds familiar!
Wonderful shot Ginnie...and the processing is something else.
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir.
Great capture and processing Ginnie. Enjoy your weekend!
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Richard!
First thing Ginnie, I accidentaly deleted your comment to my picture today although I think you should have received my reply. Sorry! Now this, a great picturte of a lovely animal, from a distance, and it has a sort of HDR look to the fir, something I see you told Anthony today that you would like to try. There are several freebie HDR packages, email me if you would like any links to them.
Ginnie: The first thing I have to do is take 3 pictures of the same thing, right, Brian? Once I get that far, I'll ask you about what I do next! Thanks for the offer.
I started my weekend yesterday and have the head ache to prove it!!!Grizzly thats a mean looking one!!
Ginnie: Oh no, Tracy! I started singing "When will she ever learn? When will she e-ver learn!"
Thank you Ginnie, I can't bear bare weekends.
It looks like a drawing made by one of those old nature artists. Excellent.
Ginnie: HA! I was just explaining to Astrid yesterday the play on words from the Jungle Book song "Bare Necessities."

I love bears and I love the texture of his fur in this photo.
Ginnie: I love bears, too, Helen. They look so cuddly and clumsy! HA! But I would not want to have to out-run one.
Ginnie this is a terrific shot, I would hang this on my wall!
Ginnie: Awww. You're such a sweetheart, Clare. Thank you.
Vaya pedazo de Oso, madre mia!!! El procesado que has aplicado lo saca de la pantalla.
Saludos.
Ginnie: Muchas gracias, Alex. Sus palabras me encanta.
wow ! the treatment of this picture immediately reminded me of Diane varner's ... I opened her blog ... and wow ! here was this bear's forest !
http://www.dianevarner.com/ By the way I have dedicated my today's post to you .... surprise !!!
Ginnie: I had seen Diane's photo a couple days ago, Namaki, so I immediately knew what you were referring to. I am so honored by you. MERCI!
actually the exact address for Diane's forest is here:
http://www.dianevarner.com/index.php?showimage=536 isn't it perfect ? I'm sure he would love it !!
Ginnie: You are so right, Namaki. This bear would be right at home there!
GRRRRREAT image, Ginnie. Enjoy your weekend as well.
Ginnie: HA! I love it, Martie. Thank you.
Wow ! Another likey !
Ginnie: You always know how yo make my day, Zeb! Merci.
Wow.. Unbelievable.
I looked at the photo for couple of minutes, trying understand how did you came so close to this bear. Only then decided to read your description Superb capture and processing.
Ginnie: I did zoom in on my 105 lens, Ilan, so he wasn't that far away. But of course, there was some kind of railing in front of us and I felt perfectly safe.
Looks like you stepped out of a tent and this bear was right there in the wild! Amazing scene!
Ginnie: I hadn't thought of that, Andy, but you are so right.
Nature in its purest form
Ginnie: Except for the fence/railing to protect us, you're just about right, Chantal.
Beautiful image, perfect composition and perspective, great job.
Greetings
Ginnie: Muchas gracias, Albert, for stopping by and commenting!
It is a memorable photo so the moment must have been spectacular!
Ginnie: Thanks a million, Beth, for stopping by and commenting.
That looks like a very big bear. I like the processing, brings out all the details in the bear.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Magnus. He's just a teddy bear.
Spectacular!
Ginnie: He's just an ol' teddy bear, Ade.
OMG Ginnie. This is purely brilliant. One of my favourites in your collection - right next to the baseball gloves shot
Ginnie: It always intrigues me, Thomas, what images appeal most to others. I almost didn't even post this, so let's just say I posted it for YOU.
Really a good shot. Excellent sharpness and good captured. I like it. And - it is a nice guy.
Ginnie: You just gave him a big bear hug, POV!
I don´t know how you do it, but every texture with you seems to gain life...just look at the bear's fur...amazing!
Ginnie: You are too kind, Lina...and you know how to make my day!
