photoblog image 1945

1945

If we weren't getting around NYC on a double-decker tour bus, we were in the subway riding the trains up and down Manhattan!

We saw literally hundreds of subway cars that passed us while we were underground.  Every car has its own number with an added flag (were the flags added after 9/11?).

What were the chances that I'd see a STOPPED car, at the END of the line, with the number 1945!  It was a very good year!  :D  (And yes, I beat the Baby Boomers by one year!)

This is my 200th post!  Instead of trying something unique, I decided to make it special by honoring my year of birth.  Without it, I wouldn't have reached 200!  :)

[Today I'm in Atlanta.]

Oooh, you clever thing you! What a lovely, way to celebrate reaching 200, and very kind of this train to have exactly the right number so you could use it today. smile As you say, what chance is that? How's about "Shutterchance" ~ a happy coincidence wink

This colour separation works incredibly well, doesn't it. It's so very effective in this picture. I do like the sharp, geometric detail of the train too.
Ginnie Hart: Truth be known, I was too time-consumed, Ellie, to try anything else that would have taken me too long to learn. So I got lucky to find this pic smack-dab in the middle of my NYC series. I like how you said that it was a "Shutterchance" coincidence. smile Thank you.
Nice one Ginnie, Happy 200th. I must say for your age you are doing great things, I want to be like you when I grow up smile
Ginnie Hart: You couldn't have honored me more, Dotun! Thank you kindly.
Brilliant way to celebrate the 200th post Ginnie. Congratulations, this is a lovely shot and the coincidence with the numbers is great. I like the PP you have done on this. Hope to see more pics and the wonderful info that you post with them smile
Ginnie Hart: Your words are so kind, Thomas. Thank you. smile
I'm not sure what's going on with that circle that looks like it has a dollar-sign reflected in it. I love the entire shot, but that one feature keeps capturing my attention. Congratulations on your 200th by the way.
Ginnie Hart: I don't have a clue either, Karen, especially since we rode lines that were numbers (like '6'wink or letters (like 'B'wink. This looks like neither. I could have cloned it out but just left it. Maybe Johnny will know.

Now I'm thinking it was a spectre train!!!

Congratulations, Ginnie! It's a nice milestone. I have to admit, that not having seen a photo of you, I had assumed you were in your 20s for some reason. Must be because you're young at heart!
Ginnie Hart: Okay, Ted, I'll not disappoint you! smile I'm the one in front with the red hair.

Well, I AM young at heart, thank God. But now you know why some call me G'ma Ginn. grin
Hayyp 200th! I am looking forward to the next set.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Martin. I hope I have lots of time to oblige! smile
Wow - strange picture : cold glossy grey, well composed and well de-colored. Nice work Ginnie !
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Roland.
I like the black and white (ot grey) with the bit of colour in it. Very striking effect here. Congratulations on the first 200 and I can't wait to see the next 200. Cheers!
Ginnie Hart: That means I'll then be in my second year on SC, right, Mary! smile That's so funny because I'm in my third year on my other blog. So here I feel quite young.
quelle belle photo!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, O-P.
I love the picture !!! Ginnie keep the pictures coming you are one of the warmest people in this community.
Ginnie Hart: You have greatly honored me, Shakara. Thank you.
It works well again Ginnie ! And it reveals well your B&W... still don't know if this is grammatically correct but... let's give a try !! smile Have a great week-end Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Florence. You, too, have a great weekend!

BTW, your English is always right-on!
Hey Ginnie Strikes Big, really liking this - congratulations and happy 200th - can't wait to get there! Today Ginnie - u're my hero! (very well deserved)
Ginnie Hart: You couldn't have honored me more, Ade. I'm deeply touched! Thank you.

many many congratulations on reaching this great landmark Ginnie! I notice that you joined 2 months after I did but have kept very true to the spirit of blogging and posted an image per day while I am still only on 130 images! lol very very well done!

More importantly Shutter is a richer environment with you in it and it is a pleasure having you around.

all the best. mal
Ginnie Hart: Well, as they say, Mal, it's not the quantity but the quality. So hands down, you are the Good Shepherd of us all. smile

Your kind words deeply touch me, coming from you. Thank you!
great combi of color and B&W
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Chantal.

This is really wonderful in every way! What synchronicity for you. grin I like that you kept the lights colored as well as the flag. The clarity of the car details and the man sitting are remarkable and make the photo for me. Very unusual and striking image, don't recall ever seeing an end-of-the-line subway car photo before. Great job.
Ginnie Hart: I do like your word, Ruth. Synchronicity! Sounds like a good name for a blog!!! smile

Did you notice Donica? smile

Happy Birthday to You!
200 is quite a milestone also.
Cool car catch you got there.
It looks like the setting IS 1945.
The selective coloring is perfect for this.
Ginnie Hart: I think you're right, Carl. It seems like the setting could be 1945! Those trains aren't all that futuristic looking at all. smile
Congratulations on your 200th Ginnie - I'm looking forward to the next 200.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Bernie. Let's hope so. smile
200 and counting, well done Ginnie smile
Ginnie Hart: I guess we DO count, don't we, Chris. This was a new thing for me on SC because we only count year anniversaries on my other blog. And there I am 2 and counting. smile

Well, well Gramma Ginn, you beat me to the 200 as well!! So sorry that I have not visited recently, that's the way things are at the moment, especially as I am trying to get everything sorted, workwise, before I fly to UK. Your decision to go with selective colouring on this has paid dividends, it really is an excellent shot. It certainly looks like you have overtaken me in bothe quantity AND QUALITY. Congrats on the 200 milestone and keep on going. Many kind regards to both you and Donica. Neil.-x-
Ginnie Hart: Your words are very kind, Neil, which I appreciate. But I must say that we all have such different work that it's like comparing apples to oranges. I do like that we all have our own technique/look/personality, enough so to almost pick each other out without knowing.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a good trip to the UK!
ginnie your choice to use selective colouring on this image works very well. it gives it a real dated feeling to it, especially with the 1945. happy 200th photograph!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Genevieve. smile
Happy 200th post, Ginnie! Hurray!

Congratulations Ginnie, 200 posts is a remarkable result!

Great processing of this simple photography made it very meaningfull for me. One of my first impressions about USA were flags everywhere, on buildings, houses, cars and obviously on every carriage of subway... London has distinct colours for underground trains, New York has national flag everywhere... I was wondering about exactly the same thing as you - were the flags added after 9/11? I still don't know the answer...

Great job Ginnie smile
De verdad Ginnie, has hecho un gran trabajo aquí. Celebro contigo tus primeras 200 fotos de las cuales algunas he podido comentar. Espero seguir disfrutando de las que vendrán !!

Really Ginnie, you have made a great work here. I celebrate with you your first 200 photos of which some I have been able to comment. I hope to continue enjoying which will come!
