She's In

Go back with me to the February 24th Saturday when Donica and I took our all-day excursion to Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath.  Last week I showed you Stonehenge pics.  This week it'll be Windsor Castle, one of the principal official residences of the British Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.

During the week she's usually at Buckingham Palace in London.  But on weekends, she's usually here at Windsor.  And if she is, the flag is flying!  Too bad we couldn't even wave at her!

Someone will mention that it's too bad the building on the left is leaning forward.  My response is that it's just paying its respect!  :)

Errm, this is a very good picture Ginnie. The detail is wonderful, I reckon I could count each and every stone I can see. I particularly like the monochrome, it gives such a good sense of age and timelessness.

I think, but I'm not sure, that this is the oldest Royal Residence anywhere in the world that's occupied and in use. I should probably read the article you've linked wink
Ginnie: Oh, thank you Ellie. I think you may be right about this being the oldest Royal Residence. There's a castle is Scotland that is also occupied and I think it, too, has a similar stat...or maybe the longest occupied with no break. All the stats start getting lost in my head, I'm afraid, but they sure are fun to hear at the time!

I didn't know the story about the flag, that's interesting. As Ellie said, your picture has an unbelievable detail level! Very very nice.

I really love the contrast in the bricks. But yes I'd agree that actually even if it was not straight, straightening it out would be better for it. I feel like I want to lean to look at the photo. smile

Great photo, Ginnie. I like the way the texture of the walls is standing out. Would it have helped to change the perspective a little, coz the tower on the tower on the left is looking like the one in Pisa smile
Ginnie: HA. I knew someone would say something about the leaning tower! smile Well, Kedar, that's why I said in the text that it's paying its respects to the Queen. If it weren't for her, I probably wouldn't have dared show this! smile

I've never been here and I only live about 90 miles away! Isn't it always the case that you ignore the stuff on your own doorstep in favout of more 'exotic' locations.

Ginnie: Oh, yes, Colin. That is so true for all of us, I'm quite sure. There are tons of things here in Atlanta I have never seen. I wonder why that is?!

I agree with the others, the detail and color treatment is so good. Isn't SHE waving at you from that second window from the left in the round tower? Oh! no, that was Helen Mirren, sorry.

I've loved Windsor, it's a very nice place. The village is very cute. Nice picture Ginnie.

I feel like I can reach out and touch the texture of the stone walls. Lovely! And the fact that my old uni was just an hour's wak away from Windsor makes this even more endearing. Oh, and I also like the way you reminded us of the building on the left paying respect smile

Next week I will also have a respectable building up. Nice trick of queenie to move around between the different fortifications. It gives the servs time to clean up before the royal re-visit. I can't imagine a life where you spend every few days in a different home, but that is poor old me.

Sinem said all the good things about the pic and i will join the chorus.

Love the shot Ginnie, this is definitely a keeper. I don't know how you did the PP, but it works so well and brings out so many tones and details that its amazing.
