A Mid-Week Break

Nothing says AUTUMN louder to me than chestnuts fallen on the open ground.  :)

(picked up last week on a citadel walk in Gorinchem, NL)

That season already...
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Ray, and heading towards its peak within a week or two.
Jolie représentation de l'automne, j'aime beaucoup les couleurs.
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Martine. It's my favorite time of the year.
this is a beautiful Autumn composition, Ginnie! Aren't those colors lovely!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elizabeth. Our citadel here where we live is surrounded by chestnut trees in many places, so you can imagine my sheer delight at this time of the year. The kids come out with their bags to collect them. Too bad they're not edible!

oh, wow, i love the organic feel in this still life
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sherri. I first only collected the chestnuts and then went back for some of the leaves to give better context.
Jolie composition de nature morte bien de saison.
Bonne journée Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Pascale. This is my favorite time of the year!

a wonderful stilleven, but I miss the ground. Autumn is also my favourite season, and we have now a wonderful Indian summer.
Ginnie Hart: I left the ground behind, Philine, and brought the trappings home to play around with, as you can see. The ground would have been better, for sure. We're finishing our Indian Summer, just as a cold spell is ready to descend.

Cookers are fun, and don’t they make a loud nice when they hit the ground. We played cookers at school. Did you Ginnie?
Ginnie Hart: Wait. I thought it was conkers, Chad? I think that's what the English call it...never something I heard before you guys talked about it on our walk with Lisl two years ago. So, no, I didn't grow up with that game. I'm afraid of how many injuries I would have caused. HA!
Je hebt helemaal gelijk, net als pompoenen de komst van de herfst aankondigen.
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Marjolein...pumpkins, too!!!
This is beautifully done Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
Et voilà  l'automne est bien là  ..belle composition
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Claudine. Autumn is definitely here!

I like this even more than your usual pictures, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Oh my, Lisl. I think that's saying a lot. Thank you.
An excellent still life Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Mosy kind of you, Frank. Thanks.
oh oh!! hubby picked up some off of our driveway and asked me what they were, but i didn't know!!
chestnuts roasted on an open fire lalala nice shot, sister!
Ginnie Hart: These would pop and crackle on an open fire, Elaine. Too bad they aren't edible because I LOVE chestnuts roasted on an open fire...which I usually can get at the Christmas market somewhere here in Europe. Fingers crossed.
Nice como, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Tom.
What a brilliant Autumn image, well worthy fo use on a calendar or greetings card IMHO.
Ginnie Hart: How kind of you, Brian. Thank you.
It hasn't happened here yet but I certainly have memories of my kids gathering the. Very pretty arrangement.
Ginnie Hart: The good thing is that it WILL happen, Mary, before long. Thanks.
What a lovely autumn gathering.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Ruthie.

Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Peter.

You light box again? Excellent, must go to likey.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Louis...another for my lightbox...and thank you. The background was black, however, so I'm not sure why it turned out blue?????

Lovely composition of autumn.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Cherry.
You're getting this studio thing down pat. Very nice. Here's it's coming into Spring and the Thunderstorms are the last vestiges of Winter fighting all the way until summer sees it off properly!!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Rob. Still want to play around more, once I put my mind to it. Happy Spring to you and hopefully not too much rain/water?
String them up and have a game of conkers, but do a risk assessment first !
Ginnie Hart: LOL, Martin. We didn't play that game where I grew up in Michigan, though I can't imagine that others didn't. i can imagine the hazard risks, indeed!
I could see this as a calendar image for the month of October, Ginnie. Brilliant!
Ginnie Hart: How sweet, Beverly. Thank you.

This shot brings back so many memories from my early years. I used to collect them on my way home from school/ And the street name was actually Chestnut. It was a long street and it was strictly coincidental that this chestnut tree was located on the street. smile
Ginnie Hart: It's hard to believe that was "coincidental," Steven. HA! But I LOVE chestnuts, especially in the palm of my hands.
