Calling St. Michael and All Angels

This is the church with the pews (from my last post), 12th century.

I would be honored to worship with St. Michael and all angels there!

Lovely picture that lends a sense of place to the space.

What's with the tree?
Ginnie: I like the way you said that, Geoff...a sense of place to the space. I'm not sure about the tree...unless it's a symbol of life after death, following Easter? This was in early May.... Hmmm.

Great texture
Ginnie: Thanks, Vintage.
Great composition Ginnie... i love all of the textures in the old stone and wood... and of course your treatment is superb as usual....petersmile
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir! smile
wonderful sepia tones ...!
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Dennis.
This angle really shows such beauty in this chapel!
Ginnie: Thank you, Elizabeth. It really is a beautiful space.
A breathtaking centring! Supernatural tones Ginnie.. I like this very mystic embiance....
Ginnie: You're very kind, Mathilde. Merci.
It is a lovely church by the look of it. I will have to pay it a visit one of these days
Ginnie: You'll love it, Bill, if you ever visit it. I'd go back and spend more time...now that I see what Astrid saw that I didn't. smile

I love the light in this church and the peace and quiet. Strange that I never took a look at the tree, it might be prayer-notes hanging in it?
Great picture, love the angle and the treatment.
Ginnie: Hartstikke bedankt, MLMA. The idea of that being a prayer tree makes perfect sense to me. I never really spent much time at the part of the church like you did...and would go back just to do so!
I note that all the hymns chosen begin in the one hundreds.
Ginnie: You have a good eye, Chad, as always!

What gorgeous warm textures and tones. Yes - a beautiful church!
Ginnie: Thank you, Marcie. This is the kind of church in which I feel comfortable, truth be told.
"...I walk into an empty room
And suddenly my heart goes boom..."

Where's the orchestra of angels?

"Da de la da da da da da da... "

Don't get me started, G! wink
Ginnie: Sometimes you have to be very quiet to hear the angels, LC. Other times they sing the Hallelujah Chorus at the top of their lungs! smile

Wonderful framing and tones of treatment
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Marie. Merci.
Superb framing Ginnie the place just oozes history.
Ginnie: Thanks, Peter, and yes. You're so right.
I said it on FB, I like the natural color tone a lot, fitting
Ginnie: Hartstikke bedankt, Chantal.
your distinctive treatment makes it a great shot, as usual
Ginnie: You're very kind, Ayush. Thank you.
very nice angle you chose; empty churches photography is very difficult genre, I think
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Juan Carlos. Gracias.

They have a full hymn-list, Ginnie...better gargle with best quality Scottish sing[le]-malt before attending.
Ginnie: HA! 4 hymns in one service would be what I'd expect, Ray, from my growing-up years. So I'm sure I'd manage just fine. smile

Interesting how the pulpit is hidden in the corner. Some people will end up with a crick in the neck.

Excellent processing again.
Ginnie: I, too, thought the pulpit placement was interesting, Louis. Thanks.
Another fine evocative capture Ginnie
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Fred.
You can't keep Mother Nature down - I assume they don't want to chop down the tree that's growing up from the crypt smile
Ginnie: Not if the tree has prayers on it, Tom! smile Thanks.
Great perspective Ginnie and I do like the treatment smile
Ginnie: You're very kind, Martin. Thank you.

love the mood of this place.. must've been really touching to be surrounded in all this history.. great catch.. smile
Ginnie: Thank you, Rian, and yes. Exactly!
I see the the vicar is a tad shy about weeding out the riff raff from his church.
Ginnie: HA! Well, he's probably glad for anyone, Richard. smile
I hope the tree is not a Xmas one having lost all its needles.
Ginnie: HA! Astrid thinks it's a prayer tree, which makes sense. smile
Lovely processing. What an awesome church.
Ginnie: Thanks, Gail, and yes. I could have stayed there awhile.
Oh it is a lovely church Ginnie, I wonder what the purpose of the small tree in the church is all about. I trust you found your short journey in Herefordshire enjoyable, it is a beautiful county in places.
Ginnie: Thanks, Brian. Astrid thinks it is a prayer tree, which makes sense. We were totally delighted with our journey in Herefordshire!

Our English churches are very special and so different from those in Scotland. I like the old stone showing here.
Ginnie: I'd love to travel around like you do, Alan, to see them all!
I only go in a Greek church to light 4 candles for people who are no longer with us,dont ask me why because i cant answer that.
Ginnie: I won't ask you why, Mick, but some things are like that: we just do them.
A picture of peace, Ginnie.
Ginnie: I thought so, too, Graeme. Thanks.
Amazing place, excellent light, details and composition! Beautiful soft image!
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Andrei. It was a beautiful place to see that day.
How do you always find these places? Lovely shot as usual! Can't imagine these benches being comfy to sit on for an hour though grin
Ginnie: Churches for me are a bit like your concerts, Abby. I can't get enough of them. smile Thanks.
Brilliant shot
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir.
A fine old church and treatment Ginnie
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, John.

The sepia feel is just great
Ginnie: Thank you, Mark! As you know by now, I'm such a fan of sepia. smile
Can't imagine how it must feel to sit in one of those pews and know how many generations of worshippers have sat there before you. What a history this church must have. Your treatment, as usual, is perfect for the image, Ginnie.
Ginnie: Thank you, Beverly. I know exactly what you mean. I can hardly fathom how many years that would be!

Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Joshi!
Oh wonderful Ginnie. I'm in another dimension
Ginnie: Thanks, Janet, and I know exactly what you mean!
Beautiful! Looks like a very peaceful place.
Ginnie: Thank you, Caryn. It's one of those places where you want to pinch yourself!

Calling for a hope from humanity. Have a nice friday and best weekend
Ginnie: Hope, indeed, Oscar. Let's pray it's still there! Gracias.
les Numéros que je vois vers le mur,ils ont une significations?????j'aime beaucoup l'ambiance avec ce traitement sépia
Ginnie: Usually the numbers correspond to the hymns being sung during the service...and in that order, l'Angevine. It's fun, isn't it. smile
