I loved to see the narrow-boats, one day I might ask if I can I get a 'sightseeing' inside. I was lucky to see one of these boats, getting ready to go from one lock to the other.
I still have fun memories of that day wink and Chris is a great tour-guide.
A wonderful picture, weeping willows are so majestic.
Ginnie: I hope I'm with you when you get one of those inside tours because I'd love to see one, too. We should have asked that one guy who reprimanded us for taking a picture of his home without first asking permission. We should have turned it around and asked if we had permission to see inside! Hartstikke bedankt!

well i can't see that they are particualarly narrow without seeing the length, but i do like the boats, look nice to live on smile sweet pic!
Ginnie: If you saw one of these next to a Dutch houseboat, Elaine, you'd see exactly how narrow these are. smile Thanks.

So much to see in this lovely shot. The colourful boats, for sure, but I am drawn to the ducks, as usual, and the wonderful willows.
Ginnie: I loved the ducks playing around, Mary. I still have such good memories of this day.
Everything in England is narrow Ginnie, our boats, trains and minds.

I just love this -- so serene and peaceful. Are the 'narrow boats' a little like 'house boats?' And where do the canals lead to?
Ginnie: These are indeed house boats, Sue, but much narrower than the Dutch houseboats I see everywhere here. I think our canals must be wider. I'm not sure where these canals lead, to be honest. I know so little about the canals of England! But these boats sure are distinctive. Thanks.
A typical canal side scene Ginnie, my father had a half length canal boat and travelled on it all over the . Somehow the desire to travel on canals passed me by. Although I do appreciate the view.

They are beautiful indeed and they remind me of certain types of Dutch ships.
Ginnie: They are a breed unto their own, Wim. I see clear distinctions between them and the Dutch houseboats. So fun to see. Bedankt.

Not far away from Bath, you can see Caen Hill Locks. Very interesting place, like a canal "staircase" consisting of 16 locks (steps smile )

If you get a chance to visit Scotland, go and visit Falkirk. They have a canal "escalator" there called Falkirk Wheel.

Such a different water-world than ours! I love the lushness of the trees and shrubs. And I really like the ducks, too - their ripples give life and depth to the image, I think.
Ginnie: This is even different from what we see on our Dutch canals, Linda, which quite surprises me. The boats in England really are narrow! smile Thanks.
We had a great weekend away in the Cotswolds Ginnie, we only saw one of these, at a place where there is a set of 21 locks to take the canal up the hill, it must take all day!
Ginnie: We saw a couple of locks that day, Brian, and even saw a narrowboat go through one of them. Very fun stuff for both Astrid and me, seeing the differences between there and here.
