I just love the color on this one Ginnie. A great shot.
Ginnie: Thank you, Frances. I love faded paint like this.

The doors make a wonderful backdrop for this fine marvel of human ingenuity, Ginnie.
Ginnie: Thank you, Ray. I wonder which one came first? smile
Doors and a bike make a good shot... did you add extra blue to the doors or are they really that cool looking in real life Ginnie?
Ginnie: Thanks, Jacquelyn. No "extra blue" added to these doors...just some contrast. They're very eye-catching in real life!

It makes sense... the winter can be cold and to use the smaller door will keep the warmth in.
This is like two worlds into one, the old and the new.
They did a great effort to preserve the beautiful door.
Wonderful picture and treatment.
Ginnie: I learn all kinds of things from you, MLMA. I love it! Hartstikke bedankt.

Saves opening the big one just to let the milkman in
Ginnie: Exactly, Bill. smile I can just picture it.

Gorgeous colors.. Good to see they preserved the old fashioned door. And although I'm not an advocate of "old is gold", this one seriously is..
Ginnie: You're very kind, Sudipto. Thank you!

An interesting motive with some Dutch flair- but the treatment is, sorry, sorry, horrible!
Ginnie: Thank you and sorry, Philine...but that was the color of the door. All I did was up the contrast a bit. Sometimes the truth is more interesting than fiction, as we say. smile
Hues so subtle! for this design harmoniously composed! Ah, the bicycle is king in you Ginnie, I will soon post my pictures of Amsterdam .. Nice day to you.
Ginnie: Thank you, dear, dear Mathilde. I hadn't thought about it like that but the bicycle is indeed king in me. smile I like that thought.

Oh, thank you for this correction, Ginnie! Yes, you are right- and such a door is really worth to be photographed in this fine way!
Ginnie: You're welcome, Philine. Sometimes "reality" can be astounding. smile

What a wonderful find - a fantastic picture Ginnie. Those little doors are apparently known as wicket gates.
Ginnie: Ahhh. A new term for me for such a door, Anne. Thank you for the "trivia" to enlighten my day. smile

Yes, I see what you've seen. The Dutch bikes are quite distinctive, aren't they? Is there some sort of writing towards the top right of the door?

Texel Island- is that were the Texel breed of sheep got their name, I wonder?
Ginnie: Thanks, Alana. And yes, good eye about the writing on the top right. When I zoom in, it looks like sanskrit! I'll ask Astrid about it when she gets home from work.

And yes, again, about the Texel sheep. The island is well known for its wool from those sheep!

This is a fabulous old door, the bike suits it very much, with the wood of the basket and the black frame and I love those cobbles! It makes me want to peek in the door smile
Ginnie: Thank you, dear Linda, and me, too! What in the world is behind either of those doors!
Interesting photo, very nice captured!
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Mats.
very nice crop like this, the door has that vintage feel to it.
Ginnie: Bedankt, Chantal. I'd love to know how old it is!

I wonder if the small door has a cat flap in it Ginnie.
Ginnie: HA! A door within a door within a door. It could go on forever, Chad. smile
Wow, excellent image Ginnie! Beautifully composed, wonderful color and unique subject. Very cool! It would be fun trying out the little door for size :^)
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir. I'd love to see someone from inside open it just to see why! smile

What an incredible door!! Love the colors the textures..the design. Great find!
Ginnie: Thanks, Marcie. It sure grabbed my attention. Not something we see in the States, right?!
This is a wonderful door Ginnie and the bike finishes it off for me.
Ginnie: Thank you, Brian. At first I was sorry the bike was there but then decided it added a bit of reality to the image. smile
Ha! I like the small one, G!
Did you encounter Oompa-Loompas on that island?
Ginnie: HA! Well, now that you mention it, LC.... grin Thanks for the smile.
What a great door, really shows its age.
Ginnie: Thanks, Les. I'd love to know exactly how old it is!
Very nice components and composition Ginnie, those doors are great, and a classic bike.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, John. It sure grabbed my attention the second I saw it!

What a wonderful door, it must have been designed by a genius - and photographed by one...
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, George...and flattery will get you just about everywhere! smile
So lovely and my-kind-of-a-picture: old doors (even two!) and a bike. I wish I was there!
A perfect shot, Ginnie!

Ginnie: At first I had wished it weren't there, Larry, but then liked the reality it gave to the image. Thanks.

What a great capture Ginnie, well seen and captured. Love the colors on the door.
Ginnie: Thank you, dear Frida. It sure grabbed my attention!
Terrific pic, Ginnie - might have been even better without the bike!
Ginnie: Thanks, Tom. I, too, initially wished the bike weren't there and then later saw the "present reality" as adding to the timelessness of the door.
It could be a time travel fantasy, Ginnie. A bicycle-riding time traveller arrives in front of a medieval door, leaves it parked there and goes to explore Den Burg.
Ginnie: Now that's a thought, Beverly! Leave it to you to add interest to an image like this. smile Thanks.

Lovely doors and the colours are great. It could be in Oxford Ginnie
Ginnie: In Oxford. WOW. Wouldnt that be a sight, Janet. Thanks for the thought.
Great shot! Love the texture and colour, the small door in the large, and the way the bicycle is centred.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, JP. It sure grabbed my attention.

Wow Wow Wow!
I have posted a few 'doors' here on SC and seen a few posted:

Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Joshi. Thank you kindly.
Nice shot, I like the juxtaposition of the bike spokes to the planks and bricks.
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir.
A confrontation between modernity and heritage. A beautiful composition, Ginnie.
Ginnie: Merci, dear Olivier. I loved the juxtaposition.
I am in love with this shot.
