Iconic Sydney
My nephew, who lives in Sydney, Australia, says their Opera House is one of the world's most recognizable icons!
It was made a UNESCO World Heritage site a year ago. The Harbour Bridge that frames it is, in at least Sydney, a close second. [Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

That's an angle I haven't seen yet thanks !
Ginnie: We LOVED it Down Under, Johnny. A trip of a lifetime!
A great new perspective on a familiar sight, Ginnie. It truly is an iconic building.
Ginnie: Awwww. Thanks, Red Pen.
This is a brilliant, refreshing view of a much-photographed building, Ginnie.
Also, I see you have caught the tail-end of a group of brave folks doing the aerial tour of the bridge...well done, for you to fit in that detail.
Ginnie: You have a very good eye, Ray, to have seen those people up there! Good for you. And thanks for your kind words.
You did this grand building proud, the composition is unique, the lines in this picture all match, that bridge makes it that the eye goes to the Opera House.
The dark sky makes it 'lighten up'even more. A likey to me.
Ginnie: You're my Fan Club, Astrid! Ontzettend bedankt. It was one of those places where it was hard to keep my eyes off of her! (And my camera!)
I like the POV and how you framed it with the bridge.
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Helen.
Very nice to see this mythical place from a different angle. Fine shot Ginnie!
Ginnie: In a week's time, Richard, I think I was able to see this Great Dame from every angle she has.
A well composed photo- a new, very sharp view of the best-known building, an exciting archtitecture indeed! I like the contrast of white and black, too!
Ginnie: Thank you, dear Philine. I feel so privileged to have seen this famous place up close and personal.
I have seen a great many shots of this famous opera house, I am glad you combined it ith (part of) the bridge. That makes it more specil and in perspective.
Ginnie: Thank you for your kind words, Wim. It was a delight to behold, every which way!
Ginnie you got them both in one shot
Could those structures in the background be some form of cranes? Have a great day mijn vriends and enjoy the sun
Ginnie: We had a great day today, mijn vriend, and thought of you. And YES, those are cranes. OF COURSE!
Looks like a bunch of humping clams - you sure it is a world heritage site?
Great picture
Ginnie: LOL, Louis. Between you and Viktor, I think the hormones must be raging.
This is a much photographed icon, but you made your picture stand out by framing it this way. It does look splendid.
iNGRID
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Ingrid! Thank you.
j'aimerai beaucoup voir ce bâtiment en vrai. j'en rêve en fait
Ginnie: I hope you wish will come true some day, O-P!
This is indeed one hell of a building. Do you know the man who designed this thing never saw it built. There is a Bahai's temple in new delhi that is equally striking and somewhat similar to this. You can check it out on my site by searching for lotus temple. I
Ginnie: We heard about that from my nephew, Navin. Wow. What a story. I'll have to check out your Bahai temple!
Beautiful one !!! It is a place I dream going to ... Well done !!!
Ginnie: I hope your dream will come true some day, Ann!
Oh, I love to see the opera there, maybe in two years when we plan to go there
Ginnie: We never went inside, Chantal, but it sure was fun to at least see the outside from every possible angle!
Are you working for the Tourism ministry yet? Nelson, Jim and I were together last night, and Nelson said, "Ginnie was quite taken with Sydney!" Well . . . yeah! The atmosphere must be amazing.
Ginnie: Awwwww. I think that could be a dream job, Ruth, working with a tourism agency. Nelson is right: we were both really taken by Sydney. You would be charmed!
Did you climb up the Harbour Bridge Ginnie?
Ginnie: No, Scarlet. Donica is afraid of heights but I decided not to go when I found out they don't allow cameras. For the money, we did a harbor cruise AND went to the top of the Sydney Tower nearby, which surely was almost as good.
Impressive. I guess Opera house is what would come to my mind first too if i ever thought of Sydney.
I totally love the angle at which you have shot this.
Ginnie: It is surely what Sydney is most known for, Moi. Thank you.
Very nice shot
I like the composition & framing
Ginnie: Thank you kindly, Saeed!
Great Framing the weather looks bad Just as well you came to sunny Queensland lol
Ginnie: We had rain every day in Sydney, Vintage, so, YES, it was a real switch to drive into sunshine after we left for Brisbane!
What a great new perspective of a building that has been photographed from every angle imaginable.
Truly is an amazing structure..isn't it? Love your point of view!
Ginnie: You are such a sweetheart, Marcie. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. How does one leave a comment on YOUR site?
It is a truly wonderful building that seems to improve with age, unlike myself.
Ginnie: I have a feeling there were be someone who disagrees with your assessment of yourself, Chad!!
I guess it has to be one of the great buildings of the 20th century. Nice view from under the bridge Ginnie
Ginnie: You are right, Bill---one of the all-time greatest structures ever. Thanks.
Great photo - I love your point of view on it!
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Martie. Thank you.
I feel like I'm there with you in this photo. Makes me feel like I've taken the boat ride too in order to take this photo. Beautiful shot!
Ginnie: I'm glad I was able to give you that feeling, Jen! Thanks.
great pov
i bet you love bridges as much as cranes eh?
Ginnie: You may be right, DrAW!
Your nephew is right and I recognized it right away. Great shot, like how you framed the Opera House with the bridge. Beautifully composed image.
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, John! Thank you.
It's one of the places I hunted for on Flash Earth
Ginnie: Awwww. And does that mean you found it, Ellie? I'll have to check it out.
I like your take on the Sydney Opera house Ginnie. Well done.
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir!
Nice shot of two well known landmarks Ginnie. My next door neighbours done the walk over the top of the bridge back in March, and they are in their mid-sixties., well done to them.
Ginnie: I'm their age, Brian, and would have loved to have done the climb! Donica is afraid of heights and when I found out they didn't allow cameras, I opted for the harbour cruise and the Sydney Tower.
Double bubble Ginnie, two landmarks for the price of one
Ginnie: Exactly, Chris. I felt so lucky.
Extraordinary capture, Ginnie. I love this.
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, Sherri. Thank you.
I like the mood, well done.
Ginnie: Thank you, kind sir!
Two impressive building in one photo. The opera and the harbour bridge. Wow !
Ginnie: It was breath-taking for me to see it, Carsten, as you can imagine. Thank you for back-tracking.
