I'd Rather Be Sailing

I always smile when I see bumper stickers that say what they'd rather be doing!
What would YOU rather be doing this weekend?  :)

This is a pulley on a large sailboat in Amsterdam, but it could be almost anywhere.

[Today I'm in Amsterdam.]

My weekend should be what I wish to be doing Ginnie - for once! I shall be listening to classical music and walking in the beautiful English countryside. And this is my favourite month too. I hope you've got something nice lined up
Ginnie Hart: It will be a relaxing weekend for us here in AMS, Chris, with a nice little boat ride on the canals on Sunday with some friends. So glad you will expect a great weekend as well.

Sleeping? Not too much of that going on these last few weeks. Lifting things up with pulleys (or without) is not on the list smile
Ginnie Hart: I do hope you get plenty of sleep, then, Martin! We all know life runs more smoothly when we can get enough of it.

Beautiful image! I wish I was going sailing, but I'll be in the house most of the weekend sorting through all our stuff. The movers come in 10 days!! But the weather is gorgeous and the sun is supposed to be shinning, so... The house will be open and we'll enjoy the sounds, smells and wind of island life.
Ginnie Hart: It sounds like you know exactly what you need, Martie. I wish you the best with all your packing.

I would rather be at the beach. Any beach, anywhere ... as long as it is warm and they don't have any freaking Mulberry Trees!

Great DOF and I love the wood pattern!
Ginnie Hart: LOL! I don't really know anything about Mulberry trees, Helen, so I'm afraid I can't commiserate. But I'll take your word for it. I do hope you can find a beach soon! smile

Great composition...love the sharp detail and DOF....This was taken next to the Nemo on our photo hunt, last March?? tonguetongue what would I rather be doing...I am going on a vacation, so I am already lucky...
I could think of one thing though I would be love doing too this weekeng...... but well that is just a thought...gringrin....
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Astrid, this was definitely near NEMO. Good eye. I have a few good guesses about what you'd rather be doing, but Texel will be good enough, I know. That will be heaven for you once again. Have a great weekend start there!
Oh just work prep' mowing lawns, domestic chores, dusting, hoovering, making coffee, cooking, washing up, shopping, cleaning the car, and many more similar inspirational creative absorbing aesthetic things like that take up all our time. hee hee! ;-( ;-(
Nope i think absorbing the wilder parts of one of our National Parks might go down well. richard

Oh umm ... nice snap as well Ginnnie ;-)
Ginnie Hart: What a ho-hum life, Richard! Too bad you didn't amount to more than a lazy bum! grin (You will be putting us all to shame, by the looks of it!)

Nice detail, Ginnie. I thought you were in Amsterdam yestertag?
Ginnie Hart: I was, Chad! So was Astrid!! This image was taken back on our photo hunt in March, near the NEMO museum.

You can go sailing with Astrid - she holds a brevet. I will horse about smile

Great shot. Love the diagonals in it.
Ginnie Hart: One day I will definitely go sailing with Astrid, since that is one of her loves. She will be the Captain. I will do whatever she tells me to do! I'm guessing she'll let you horse around. grin Thanks.

I like the sharp details of this pulley and the lines reflecetd in the background- a symbol of power and strain- but now I wish you heel veel ontspanning aangezien het prachtige zomerweer in Amsterdam!
Ginnie Hart: You are such a sweetheart, Philine. Besides relaxing, Donica and I will go on a boat ride on the the AMS canals on Sunday with some friends. It is always such a relaxing thing to do.
It was a grey Amsterdam day.
Ginnie Hart: You must have been there with us, Wim! smile

Sailing would be good but a sleep in would be excellent have a good weekend

Ginnie there are a 1001 things I would love to do this weekend, being so active in mind and body.grin
Spending time with friends would be good and walking, rather than household choreswink (Yeah just as if,ITS THE WEEKEND).
Have a great one and do something you enjoysmile
Love the shot too!!
Ginnie Hart: Knowing you, Tracy, you'll get your time in with friends. We will be with friends on Sunday, boating on the canals of AMS. It's a lovely way to relax!
I really like wooden parts on some sailboats. This is a beautiful and authentic piece! You highlighted it very well on this white background.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Richard. I can't remember if that white background was sails or a very blah, gray March sky. Probably the latter.

Good detail shot - I haven't been sailing in a long time. I'd rather be by the sea somewhere, preferably with cliffs and a blue sky with scudding clouds - Cornwall comes to mind! Have a good weekend whatever you have planned.
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: We won't be sailing, Ingrid, but we WILL be boating on the AMS canals this Sunday with some friends. That's always relaxing. Donica almost falls asleep sitting up! smile
I would rather be going to Mother's Day Brunch with my son but am working. Have to bring home the bacon rather than eat it. Have a good weekend, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I totally forgot about Mother's Day when I posted this, Mary! HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to you and yours!!!
Lovely shot Ginnie . How are you doing ..
Ginnie Hart: Am doing great, Shakara! WELCOME BACK. I've missed you.

Sailing sounds really nice...but unlikely in my life.
A nice wlak on the beach would do fine...

Love the detail image!!!!
Ginnie Hart: A nice walk long the Amsterdam canals is what I'm gonna do right now, Marcie. On Sunday we'll take a nice little boat ride with friends. Sailing may happen once yet in my lifetime? I hope so. smile

Since I just had a couple days away, I guess I wouldn't rather be doing anything but staying at the farm this weekend. Although we will be going away Sunday for Mother's Day . . .
Ginnie Hart: Your farm is a getaway for the rest of us, Ruth! I bet that feels strange to you. smile So glad you had your restorative time away!
Maureen and I are singing in a concert at church on both Saturday and Sunday evenings this weekend and relatives are coming to stay. Should be a nice time. Back to the picture, great that this is set against the OOF white background. Have a good weekend.
Ginnie Hart: Sounds like you'll have a full weekend of people and events, Brian. Enjoy it all.
Hello Ginnie,
This way the boat won't go away haha. Welldone sharp photo, I looked at the iso (100) so it was a cear day...

"Bumperstickers?" That 'word' reminds me of cars too near on my car (back side) Is that the name of this 'thing'?

What do I do this weekend? NOTHING, sitting in my backyard, make food (maybe BBQ) for my family on Sunday, Maybe a short bike-drive, but overall enjoy the waether, and you???

Greetings from JoAnn
(come & watch my SWISS sky!)
Ginnie Hart: Yes, JoAnn. I hate it when cars are too close from behind and you can't see their bumpers! But usually for us the bumper stickers are on the BACK of the car and the driver behind gets to read it. You know. smile Have a great time doing nothing this weekend!
Will be working at the Clent Hills on Sunday, so that isn't so bad!! We have our Lions Charter anniversary dinner on Saturday, so looking a fair weekend! Hope you have a good one.

Nice picture by the way
Ginnie Hart: Being alive and in good heath is sometimes all we need, Bill, right? smile Enjoy.

Oops, almost forgot to mention the picture - spot on focus, but you know I'd probably have cropped it a tad tighter to lose the mast. wink Easy to say when it's somebody else's picture!
Ginnie Hart: That's so funny, Ellie, because I never once thought of cropping out THAT side but I went back-n-forth about cropping out the right side. smile
Like the tones and details in the pulley. Great lighting and contrasts here too. Nice composition Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, John!

Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Saeed. Thank you.
j'aime beaucoup..cela fait penser à la mer... à l'ivresse des voyages
Ginnie Hart: The intoxication of the sea makes drunkards out of a lot of us, O-P. smile
Me too...if not photographing them wink
Ginnie Hart: Well, your photographing of them cannot be excelled, Chris! Hope you're having a great weekend!

Your choice to get up close has allowed the low-tech character of that pulley-cluster to shine through.
Fine picture, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Some things that are useful are also very simple, Ray. In this day and age, that's saying a lot. Thanks.

Simple, effective - I think this could be an illustration in a magazin.

This shot makes me wonder how it would look like in B&W. Yeah..I know...I'm in a B&W mania mood... smile
Ginnie Hart: It never occurred to me, Fausto, probably because I'm such a sucker for oak-looking wood. But I'm sure you're right! smile
