A Somber Reminder

Take photos of the people you love...while they're still around!

Sister Ruth insisted on taking photos of Astrid and me before we left Michigan this week,

mainly because it saddened her that she didn't have many photos of our SIL Peggy who just passed.

Just do it!

All good...
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ray.
She caught some lovely moments of you, two!!
Ginnie Hart: I am NOT photogenic at all, Elizabeth, so it was something I was not looking forward to when Ruth first mentioned it. But she helped us relax, which helped. smile Thanks.
Merci pour ces sourires offert ce matin.
Bonne journée Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: You're welcome, Pascale. smile

Yes indeed Ginnie, we should all take notice of the fact that people are simply not here forever & ever..
Ginnie Hart: Why do we often wait till it's "too late," Chris!?! (sigh)

I am so glad that Ruth took these pictures for her to have and for her to share. These moments together are special. And we had fun doing it.
Ginnie Hart: I'm not big on photos of myself, Astrid, as you know. But Ruth seemed to bring out the best in both of us. Bedankt.

Super pics, Ginnie - all of them
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Lisl. This is a reminder to YOU that when we want photos of you, we really do want them!!!
yeah, it's sad not to have paper photos anymore as well... i have a bunch of photo albums that i like to go thru, i can't find them right now, they must be out at the RV... these are good pics of you and Astrid!!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Elaine. It's fun going through photo albums...walking down Memory Lane.
They are lovely pictures Ginnie. Ruth is so right and so are you
Ginnie Hart: You're taking photos in spades, Bill, which is wonderful. Make sure YOU are in some of them, especially with the Boys!

Such good portraits here...reflects interaction, warmth, place, time...this group of shots has it all. Wise advice! Often the photographer forgets to be in some of the images.
Ginnie Hart: Years ago, Bonnie, we lost an uncle who was the photographer in his family. When he died no one could find photos of HIM. I've never forgotten that!

I wish some of my family members had the same sentiments as Sister Ruth! What a great collage of beautiful, charismatic smiles! This would make a great Christmas card. smile
Ginnie Hart: How sweet of you, Steven. But it's really true. We all need the photos to help us remember.
I often tell my family that when I am gone, no one will remember me because there are so few photos of me, since I am the one always taking photos. They will have a few selfies I have taken. I love these portraits. treasure them.
Ginnie Hart: Please find someone who can use your camera, Ruthie, to take photos of YOU. That might be a good start??!
never a truer set of words....
Ginnie Hart: So glad you concur, Rob.
Ja, zo word je weer met je neus op de feiten van het vergankelijke gedrukt.
Wat een mooie foto`s van jullie 2
En wie is wie ?
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, Marjolein. I'm the redhead in the gray hoodie. Astrid is in the green sweater she knitted. smile
And a very fine quartet of photos they are Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Brian. Make sure someone takes a set of you and Maureen!

you're both very photogenic
Ginnie Hart: We'll, that's kind of you, Sherri, but most of the time I don't feel that way at all. I think Ruth really made us feel comfortable that day. Thanks.
They are lovely pictures too. Thanks Ruth.
Ginnie Hart: Most kind of you, Mary.

Ginnie Hart: Most kind of you, Peter. Thanks. Make sure you have photos taken of you and Penny!
Same thing happened to me when my grandma passed about a decade ago. The photos I did have of her were on a hard disk that crashed...

Well, at least she'll have photos of you two...
Ginnie Hart: You've made my point, Sudipto. And thanks.
It's a pleasure to discover Astrid and me. Thanks to Ruth for the photo
Ginnie Hart: Most kind of you, Marie. Merci.
I put your site in my favorites but as Shutterchance does not provide newsletters, I do not think to spend every day to visit the sites that are friends on this platform. My excuses Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: I understand, Marie. I wish I had more control but I don't. The main thing is that I will find you and when you return a comment, I'll have you covered again.

A bit melancholy. When I visit graveyards it is always remarkable how graves go through generations. It takes about 40 - 50 years for a grave to be forgotten. Meaning also that those who could take care have now also died off.

A bit morbid maybe. But those are the realities. I cleaned out my father's house after he died, last year. A lot of albums ended up in the dustbin - mainly, because they are about travels that he and mum made, that only meant anything to them. I kept some good pictures of them, though.
Ginnie Hart: Yup. It's the photos of THEM that are important. I totally understand.

Your sister is right. Both Mr C and I forget to take photos of each other and also photos of others. Our photos are often devoid of people.
Ginnie Hart: I know exactly what you mean, Cherry, which is why I made this post.
Ruth is absolutely right.
Ginnie Hart: Maybe those of us finding love in late life again are quicker to have those photos taken, Sheila?!
C'est vrai qu'il faut savoir profiter des siens tant qu'il est encore temps ..très belles photos
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Claudine. Merci.
