A Mid-Week Break

For some strange reason, I was intrigued by the hands of the statues!

(inside St. Mary Magdalene Church at Croome Court, England)

i see what you're saying

the hands are in poses we see as people entreat one another
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Sherri. Hands can tell us so much...without words!
I do see what you mean, Ginnie...
I like Sherri's comment.
A lovely set of images... each one with interest!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Elizabeth. This doesn't happen to me often but the hands did catch my eye!
Jolie présentation qui montre ces mains si différentes.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Martine, and merci.

The hands look incredibly lifelike to me Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Maybe that's why they caught my eye, Chris?!

Yes, I see what you mean, and I myself am often fascinated by the gestures of sculptured hands. What a beautiful church at Croome Court!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Philine, you know! Thanks.

This is a fabulous observation and I was intrigued by the hands myself too, Ginnie. There was something about these statues. Such fine art.
Ginnie Hart: Even though we didn't stay in the church for long, Astrid, it did leave some good impressions, didn't it...even if of only the hands! Bedankt.
i am totally with you on this, Ginnie. the attention to detail is evident on part of the sculptor.
Ginnie Hart: You are one to see detail, Ayush, so you would have loved this place.

I can understand that especially in the contexts seen here.

What has been screaming at the TV just before pressing the Off button are TV presenters that will insist and very exaggerated hand movements while they talk; it drives me mad. Rant over.

You got some fine shots here. Having seen what you and others captured from the day makes me wonder if I was walking around with my eyes shut.
Ginnie Hart: I have a feeling you were spending more time with your ears then, Alan, than with your eyes?!

I can understand that, Ginnie - they are very expressive
Ginnie Hart: Indeed so, Lisl. Didn't spend much time in there other than that.
Bonjour
J'adore ...toutes ces mains sont très expressives
Quel beau travail de sculpture .
Merci Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Claudine. Sometimes I do notice such details. smile
They demonstrate the high quality of these statues I think Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Yes, they do, Bill.
whoa, i thought that one hand was up to something, then i saw that it was a SWORD being held lol... very nice study of the hands, sister
Ginnie Hart: All the hands seem to be up to something, Elaine! smile Thanks.

They are very expressive hands Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, they are, Chad.
Inderdaad een hele mooie verzameling van mooie fijne en elegante levende handen
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, Marjolein. It's like they really are alive!
I can understand that feeling, they are beautifully modelled.
Ginnie Hart: Indeed so, Brian.
I understand. When I was taking photos of scarecrows, I was fascinated by their feet! There is a graceful appeal to these images.
Ginnie Hart: Maybe one day you can show us your scarecrow feet, Ruthie? smile

Great series of photos highlighting the details in the hands! Before reading where these statues were, I thought I saw Sleeping Beauty being awakened by Prince Charming's approaching hand in the first photo. smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! Great interpretation, Steven! smile
Most artists will tell you hands are among the most difficult too master. It is one of the first places I look with sculpture.
Ginnie Hart: BRAVA, Mary. You would have loved these, then!

I have to hand it to you ... this is not a hands-off situation like all those statues in Athens.
Ginnie Hart: HAHA, Louis. Great play on words! smile
Well seen Ginnie, nicely presented too.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
They are nice, beautifully done features.
Ginnie Hart: I thouht so, too, Tom.
Hands and knees...
Ginnie Hart: Makes me want to start singing a little ditty, Larry. smile
