photoblog image Boat Friday

Boat Friday

Believe it or not, this is the only boat image I took during our 12 days in England!

(a kneeler in the St. Nicholas Church, Winsley, England)

It is a good one, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ray. The Jonah and the Whale story is always a good one to read.

Lovely smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Cherry. smile
Un bateau original, attention à  la baleine.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Always watch out for the whales when you're in a boat, Martine. smile Merci.
Un sacré travail cette tapisserie, jamais je n'aurai cette patience là .
Bonne journée Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: After all the kneelers I've seen in English churches over the years, Pascale, I'm certain I would have wanted to contribute to them...because I love stitcheries like needlepoint and counted-cross stitch. smile

A unique object for sure Ginnie, probably made by a parishioner
Ginnie Hart: I would guess so, Chris. If I were a member, I'm sure I'd have several of my own kneelers there.

A saw you eyeing this one up for "Boat Friday", Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: I think you took a pic of it as well, Lisl?! I still can't believe it's the only boat image I have of 1,000+ photos I took!

I don't believe you - but this knee cushion is beautiful.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, I don't believe me either, Philine, but thanks anyway. smile
Tu as du être occupée à  autre chose ...mais cette broderie est superbe !
Ginnie Hart: Strangely, Claudine, this time we did almost everything with no water (or boats) in sight! I have grown to love the kneelers in these English churches because so many of them are really ornate!
meh... boats lol

cute pic, sister... and you missed my beautiful merri go round pic while you were gone smile
Ginnie Hart: LOL at you and boats. At least this one is "safe," as long as you aren't Jonah. smile I'll go back to find your merry-go-round....

Well I like the picture on the cushion Ginnie, so it’s a good one.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, thank you, Chad!

Now that is a surprise, Ginnie. I thought that you may have gone to Bristol's Floating harbour on one of your trips. There are so many different design on these kneelers.
Ginnie Hart: Astrid went off for a walk one day and got several boats, while I stayed at home to nurse my cold before the Croome meetup, Alan. Priorities, you know. But all the rest of our time was out in the fields or in churches. Different from our other trips!

Une jolie tapisserie

Ginnie Hart: Merci, JP. I really enjoy seeing the different kneelers in English churches!

I always like the designs they have on the kneelers, Ginnie and this is a very nice design. I wonder who thinks these up? I love your presentation
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, Astrid. You know me...I would want to stitch some of these kneelers, just for the halibut. smile
Well that is better than none Ginnie grin
Ginnie Hart: That's what I thought, Bill. smile
Ha ha, Astrid had wel een rustgevend bootje gespot.
Maar die van jou blijft lekker liggen en wiebelt nooit smile
Ginnie Hart: Good point, Marjolein. HA!

It must be the drought that scythed down the number of boats in England.
Ginnie Hart: Believe it or not, Louis, England had greened itself back up before we got there and even had some more rain while we were there. It was wonderful.
I like the whale.
Ginnie Hart: I think Jonah did, too, after he got used to it? smile
My MIL used to do this sort of work, Maureen has had a go along with all the other craft things she does.
Ginnie Hart: I have done needlepoint, too, Brian, but have always liked counted-cross stitch the best!
A delightful piece of handiwork
Ginnie Hart: And it's the kind of thing you see in almost all the English churches, Ruthie.
That seems ready to show the boat who is boss.
Ginnie Hart: HA! I would guess so, Michael. smile

i like how the whale is sewn here

very clever
Ginnie Hart: Since this is a church kneeler, Sherri, I assume this depicts Jonah and the whale!
is the image on a cushion in a church by chance Ginnie?
....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Peter. As I wrote in my text, it's a kneeler in the St. Nicholas Church in Winsley.
You must be off your game... smile
Ginnie Hart: Either I am or my hosts, Larry??? smile

A very pretty one nonetheless and someone created it with love.
Ginnie Hart: Indeed so, Bonnie. I can just picture needlepoint clubs in churches (like quilting clubs) making these for their parishioners.
I guess you were mostly inland.

Ha, that's great! Cute!
Ginnie Hart: It's amazing where you can find boats, Robin, when you start looking for them. smile
What a wonderful find!!
Ginnie Hart: I guess one ship is better than none at all, Elizabeth? smile
