Mud and Water Challenge (Maurik, NL) #3

This past Saturday Astrid participated in a Mud and Water Challenge of 42 obstacles with kids and parents.

Astrid was the only Legend (60+) in this group of 90 participants.

She completed the 4+ km run in 1.5 hours!

Here's the video of her walking through this obstacle:

Kudos to Astrid for being the good sport and allowing you to cover her in these trying moments. I will say I liked that shriek she gave in the video. smile
Ginnie Hart: Kudos, indeed, Steven. I think she's become everyone's shero. smile

some very deep water in that spot
Ginnie Hart: Good for cleaning off near the end of the race, Sherri! smile
I love it!
Ginnie Hart: Me, too, Michael. smile
So amazing! I enjoyed your full post! Go Astrid!
Ginnie Hart: So glad you were able to come along for the ride, Elizabeth. Thanks.
C'est le bonheur total, cela se lit sur les visages souriants ;-)
Bonne journée Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Indeed so, Pascale. I saw lots of happy faces...and families who were doing the race together. What a memory for them.
Either those kids are very tall, or Astrid is very short! smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! I guess it's all a matter of perspective, Frank, isn't it! smile

Cela a l'air d'être profond ou bien Astrid est à  genoux.
Ginnie Hart: It was deep enough to walk through, Martine.

This is a truly remarkable picture, Ginnie. And she is even smiling in the video
Ginnie Hart: Don't you love it, Lisl! It's the smiling part that keeps putting a smile on my own face. smile

This was well after 1.15 after the start of the race and still smiling.
There was a lot of mud grin....
Thank you for a week of coverage of this one time event for me. I was great to do and when I see it all back and also the pictures on the Mud&Water Challenge on FB, it was tough but we all had a good time.
Ginnie Hart: Still smiling at the end, too, Astrid. I couldn't be prouder of you!

I admire also you photographing her, it might have been dangerous not to slip off.
Ginnie Hart: Bless you, Philine. I was never in the mud myself...always on terra firma, thankfully. smile

Is Astrid legless? smile I'm fascinated by the object in the background and especially the stairway. Is is something to do with a waterway?
Ginnie Hart: What you see in the background, Alan, is the lock at Amerongen: https://translate.google.nl/translate?hl=en&sl=nl&u=https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuw-_en_sluizencomplex_Amerongen&prev=search
She is mad....but that is why we all love her!
Ginnie Hart: Truer words were never spoken, Bill!!!

Ha ha what fun Ginnie, well captured moment.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Chad. It really was fun...for both of us. smile
sooooo amazing!! tho i'll bet she had mud in every crack!! haha, sorry, that's sounds dirty lol
Ginnie Hart: The good thing is that there were showers for everyone to get cleaned off afterwards, Elaine. That helped a lot. smile

Fortunately, the sun is shining. I also like how that father is guiding his family through the mud - definitely family fun as well.
Ginnie Hart: I(t was a perfect day weather-wise, Louis. And yes, Astrid saw many tender family moments.
That water's depth is a surprise!
Ginnie Hart: I know, Ruthie. You can see why parents were along to help the little kids.
Wow! Astrid is one fit lady. Can't imagine the strength it must have taken to complete this challenge. Way to go, Astrid!
Ginnie Hart: Astrid really IS one fit lady, Beverly! I'm so proud of her!
My word Astrid has some courage and stamina, although, dare I say it, she is a few years younger than you and I!
Ginnie Hart: She is younger, Brian, but I dare say not many women her age (64 in August) come even close to her courage and stamina!

She looks right at home...
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Larry, this kind of thing is right up her alley. smile
