Mud and Water Challenge (Maurik, NL) #1

This past Saturday Astrid participated in a Mud and Water Challenge of 42 obstacles with kids and parents.

Astrid was the only Legend (60+) in this group of 90 participants.

She completed the 4+ km run in 1.5 hours!

Here's a video of her making her way through this particular obstacle:

It looks like fun! Not to worry about getting filthy! smile
Good for Astrid!!! Slippery stuff that is!
Ginnie Hart: Good for Astrid, indeed, Elizabeth. i couldn't be prouder of her! She even got all the mud off! smile
Great pics, and well done Astrid!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Frank. Now that it's over, we're both thrilled about the accomplishment!

Looks like it was a good time for everyone! And Astrid was definitely being a good sport! Congrats to her for finishing the 4 km run as well.
Ginnie Hart: Actually, I told Astrid she was a Good Sport, Steven. She really was. In between the 42 obstacles, she said she was able to run the entire time. She often runs 5 km in about 30 minutes.

That was quite the experience and I am glad I did all the training I could, however for wet clay ground there is no training, just laugh an go through. Pride is what I feel (and some sore spots) Thank you for being there and all the pictures and videos you took.
Great picture of the kids also having fun and I can tell you they did. Later I found out that the fastest kid (overal) under 13, a girl (!) did the whole track in 45 minutes and 54 seconds, she had her mom with her to help out.
Ginnie Hart: This is when I say "you can do anything once" and you did! And I know you never need to do it again. I'm so proud of you, more than you know. You would have been that girl at her age, for sure!

Ginnie Hart: An amazing lady indeed, Lisl. More amazing you cannot get, even with a walking stick!!! smile

Oh, I admire her so much - and she was laughing, too - we can be really proud of her.
Ginnie Hart: I admire her so much, too, Philine. I only wish I could have done with with her because a few years ago I would have done it, too. smile
Le bonheur dans la gadoue ;-)
Très sympa, merci.
Bonne journée Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Everyone wants to get muddy from time to time, Pascale, right??? grin
Felicitations à  Astrid ..cela a du être un super moment!
Bone journée
Ginnie Hart: Indeed so, Claudine. I was so proud of her! smile

No doubt next year it'll be your turn. It looks a lot of fun ; I hope that there were showers available before heading back home?
Ginnie Hart: Too bad it wasn't 10 years ago, Alan, when we could have done it together. HA! I was just glad I could keep up with her enough to grab the pics! And YES. Showers enough for everyone!
She is such a hero!!
Ginnie Hart: You can say that again, Bill. smile

What fun Ginnie, and well done Astrid for a sterling effort.
Ginnie Hart: "Sterling" is a perfect word for the occasion, Chad. THANK YOU.
hahaha, that looks like too much fun... well, sorta haha, you know what i mean!! you GO, Astrid!!!
Ginnie Hart: HA! Indeed. I do think she allowed herself to have FUN doing this, Elaine, which was important to both of us. She wasn't in a competition with anyone...just wanting to finish it to say she did it! I really AM proud of her!

It looks like dirty fun day. smile
Ginnie Hart: It was, Andy, with a lot of hard work for Astrid!
My kids and ex did a mud run a few years ago while I babysat. They had a blast as I'm sure Astrid did.
Ginnie Hart: Astrid had a blast, too, Mary, but worked on making it fun instead of a competition. That helped her!
It's a great big 'WELL DONE ASTRID!' from both of us, she has more stamina than Maureen and I added together.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, she definitely has stamina, Brian. She did ua all proud! smile
NOw this looks like FUN!!!! I am thrilled for Astrid!
Ginnie Hart: It was almost as fun for me watching and taking photos, Ruthie. smile
Wow! She has my total admiration for even attempting this, Ginnie. Well done, Astrid!
Ginnie Hart: I totally agree, Beverly. Every time she expressed doubt about doing it (after committing to do it), I really encouraged her because I knew she had done the right training for it. Besides, she made the decision to have fun and not be stupid! Of the 42 obstacles, she properly did 35 of them, and that was better than enough!

Brilliant! What an experience!
Ginnie Hart: Indeed so, Anne. She only wanted to do it once...and not kill herself in the process. HA!

wow, who thinks up this stuff ?

an amazing feat
Ginnie Hart: I know, Sherri. There are all kinds of things happening like this in The Netherlands, so there's always something to try, just to say you did it...and to get your medal and t-shirt! smile It's also a great way to raise money for your organization or charity.

excellent effort by Astrid, and a legend indeed. i am sure she taught a thing or two to the young ones.
Ginnie Hart: Definitely a Legend in her own right, Ayush. At one point she helped a little girl around 7 years old to whom Astrid said, "You're a trooper." The little girl immediately responded with, "And so are you!" How precious.
That is fabulous. Kids in mud.
Ginnie Hart: I know, Michael. Kids of all ages!

Slippery business, for sure. I will also take your word that the person in the video is Astrid.

By your report, it seems that she has won her class smile
Ginnie Hart: Definitely Astrid, Louis, and none other! And yes, she went to the head of her class that day. smile

Yikes! You certainly captured the textures of the day. Astrid looks like she is having fun.
Ginnie Hart: It was definitely a mud and water day, Beth! And yes, Astrid was determined to have fun and not make it too much of a competition...but just do it all in her own time and way. It paid off.

OMG...that takes one brave lady!!
Ginnie Hart: Brave is the operative word, Bonnie. She started having second thoughts just before she started but once all 90 of them were let loose, I think she had a heyday!

Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Emily. Can't keep us girls down for long. HA! (BTW, I wanted to comment on your last post but the comments were closed. What gorgeous images!)
I loved watching the group behind her too! You captured some really great moments!
