You did very well with not much available light, Ginnie. I saw Astrid's post.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ray. It actually had a lot of light, compared to other churches we visited in Verona.
Sorry to have flooded your inbox but you know I love catching up when I get behind because of travel. Now I'm off to see what Astrid saw!
Ginnie Hart: You are something else altogether, Robin! Thank you.
What a wonderful wall. That is amazing.
Ginnie Hart: The frescoes in these European churches blow me away, Michael.
A great shot of Astrid admiring this very fine fresco!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elizabeth. She certainly helps to give it scale!

I never knew you took a picture of me and it was just a coincident that I took a picture of the fresco I was looking at. A wonderful overview of that wall with all the frescoes.
Ginnie Hart: I'm so glad you went up close to see what you saw there. I had no clue!!!

A study in concentration, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Indeed so, Lisl. I had no clue she saw what she did. She never told me.

Well there's certainly a lot to look at here Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: I tend to be far-sighted, Chris, and Astrid tends to be near-sighted, so this was a clear case in point!

Magnifiques fresques.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Anne.
Une fresque vraiment très bien conservée
Magnifique ..
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Claudine.
C'est un magnifique mur.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it is, Martine. Merci.

Oh, what a wonderful church with all the frescoes! I am just coming from Astridd's blog.
Ginnie Hart: You would love the churches of Verona, Philine, if you've never been there.

I'm just trying t think of the age of these paintings; were they the work of one artist do you know?
Ginnie Hart: I have no clue, Alan, but wish I did. I know that the church's construction began in 1045.
Something you generally don't see in our churches Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Correct, Bill. It's hard not to be in total awe of them.

St. Goeorge and St. Zeno are depictured here -" many of the frescoes have been inscribed with graffiti, much of it referring to historical events such as earthquakes and floods lest they be forgotten."
Ginnie Hart: Leave it to you, Philine, to find this added info! Thank you.

This is a superb photograph Ginnie. I like the squareness of the perspective but also the lines of the pews. Also, I like the solitary figure of Astrid who looks as if she is scrutinising what seems to be a great early fresco. My guess is 13th Century.
Ginnie Hart: Most kind of you, Chad. You may be right about the age.
Time would be well spent here. I get jealous sometimes.
Ginnie Hart: I know what you mean, Mary, on both counts.
tres belle fresque!! amitiés
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, JP.

Beautiful and colorful frescoes that span this wall!! Great capture!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Steven. It took my breath away.
What a history this wall must have. I've taken a quick peak at Astrids posting, now to take a closer look now you've set the scene, it's called teamwork I believe.
Ginnie Hart: Teamwork, indeed, Brian. As we all know, we are all different witnesses to the same story!
Quite a lot of restoration work needed there!
Ginnie Hart: That may be the reason why I like frescoes, Tom, because they show their age. It makes me hope they AREN'T restored!
I wish I was there now! So I can capture you in my pictures of you taking pictures of A.

What? No church cushions? He he... Is that why you keep coming back to England?
Ginnie Hart: LOL, LC. That will be the day when you capture ME taking a photo of Astrid. I would love to see it!!!

And yes, that's why I keep going back to England!!!
What a wonderful fresco.
Ginnie Hart: It really is, Cherry...and took my breath away.

She is planning where to add her own name. See her posting of the 9th for the result.
Ginnie Hart: HA! That's one thing I have yet to see Astrid do anywhere, Louis. grin

well no one expected the inquisition lol awesome shot sister!
Ginnie Hart: HA! No one expected a lot of things in history, Elaine, though by now it does seem to be repeating itself. (sigh)
With all the paintings, it's easy to miss that little door over there... smile

Nice capture, Ginnie... smile
Ginnie Hart: I know, Sudipto. It was a nice surprise. smile
