Selfies for the self-obsessed...smile
Ginnie Hart: I can't believe all the selfie-sticks we saw while in Venice, Larry. It made me thankful for where they're banned.
i think even with this close crop, there is little doubt about where we are, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Indeed so, Ayush. No doubt about it.
Selfie Sticks are a new high in modern annoyances.
Ginnie Hart: It makes you realize why they're banned in some places, Michael!

At least it is in matching colours and this is one of the few that wears a hat....
What is it with selfies, but then I have a 'dumb-phone'....
Ginnie Hart: I was lad they were accessorized with each other, Astrid. I also suppose this is better than the gondolier texting with his iPhone while driving??!

My accessories bag doesn't have one of those...am I missing out?
Ginnie Hart: NO, Ray. Besides, they're banned in many places. We wouldn't want you to be at risk!
Wonderful, Ginnie!
I love the patterns on the water!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elizabeth. Those patterns almost look like a painting, don't they!

I even saw one in our local charity shop, Ginnie - someone was fed up with it
Ginnie Hart: I had forgotten that some places ban these, Lisl, which is probably why I was shocked when I saw so many in Venice. And if you don't already have the stick, you can find hawkers everywhere willing to sell you one for €1.

Bath is full of these Ginnie. Selfie sticks not gondoliers..
Ginnie Hart: HA! The day Bath has gondoliers, Chris, I'll be glad "you" did a BREXIT. grin

Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHAHA! Only you, Elaine. Only you. grin

I remember all the tourists in Venice, esp. Asian people, who did their selfie. It is horrible in my view. But this is a nice scene with the gondoliere
Ginnie Hart: Selfie sticks were everywhere, Philine, and if you didn't have one, there was a hawker nearby who could sell you one for €1. What a racket!
Wow that's a long selfish stick Ginnie, I wonder what the world record is?
Ginnie Hart: I suppose it looks long, Chad, but on an extended arm while sitting down, it was perfect for also getting in the gondolier! smile
There has been an alarming increase in the number of people being killed taking selfies. Darwinism in action perhaps?
Ginnie Hart: As bad as texting then, Bill? Dear me!
Surprenant ces batons selfies ..il faut vivre avec son temps...sourires !
J'aime beaucoup ce batelier ...
Bonne journée
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Claudine. We saw these selfie sticks being sold all over Venice. (sigh)
Showing his best side for you or the other camera, I wonder?
Ginnie Hart: He was way too far away to even know I existed, Mary, so he was clearly playing the role of a good gondolier for his customers.

Hopefully, the place is nice anyway!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it is, Anne. Merci.

Are you sure it is not a rear view mirror?

He probably made a few Euro's with that stick.
Ginnie Hart: HA! I like the idea of a rear/side-view mirror, Louis. The objects may be closer than they appear. HA!
I have neither a smart phone or a selfie stick therefore. A dodgy place to use one over the top of a canal full of water.
Ginnie Hart: I'm totally with you, Louis. We even saw some of the gondolier's texting while they were "driving" their customers!
belle prise!! amitiés
Ginnie Hart: Merci, JP.

Haha! I've seen it all now! With luck, the phone is only loosely held and will fall into the canal smile We had never heard of cellphones when I was on a gondola, never mind selfie sticks smile
Ginnie Hart: I know, Alan. What will it be like 20 years from now, I wonder?????
No doubt for sale to the customers smile
Ginnie Hart: If you don't have one, Tom, there are plenty of hawkers roaming the main piazzas, more than ready to sell you one for €1.
Ha ha... Luckily I don't own one. wink
Ginnie Hart: Lucky, indeed, LC. Me neither.

Selfie sticks take away the challenge of a self portrait ;-)
Ginnie Hart: You do have a point, Cherry. smile
cool shot Ginnie... notice that he put his hat on for the photo bomb....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: I especially notice that they were color-coordinated, Peter. smile
Jolie photo, il porte bien le chapeau.
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Martine. More gondolier-ish you cannot get. smile
Fun capture! I don't see them here in the city like I used to. Hopefully it's going out! But doubtful!
