It's amazing--the two nothing-but-head images...
Ginnie Hart: I know, Larry. It does make you wonder!
Look at those ancient fresco's! It's amazing what you captured down there! Nice job!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Elizabeth. We still can't believe that place (not in our travel books)!

gobsmacked
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ray. You would have loved this place.
This is great, Ginnie, what colours!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Frank. The colors still astound me.

Those faces look other-worldly, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Indeed so, Lisl. You would be in awe there!

The colours really came out wonderful and this is an amazing place only few know about.
Today I show some of the passages we went in (just coincidental).
Ginnie Hart: I love that we ended up on the same page today, Astrid! We'll never forget this treasure, will we!

You get a great sense of time here with those heads peeping out of the past..
Ginnie Hart: Yes, you do, Chris, and it didn't even feel creepy in that moment!

Oh, I remember a former image - a very impressive crypt I hope to see some weeks later, for we'll be staying also in Cannaregio. Thank you very much for this tip!
Ginnie Hart: It's the church right across the Grand Canal from the railway station, Philine. You can't miss it. I'm so glad you'll be able to see it!

I'm so pleased that this has been allowed to age naturally and has had no heavy-handed restoration. For their age, the colours are very intense.
Ginnie Hart: I totally agree with you, Alan. This was quite the place to behold.
Dommage que le temps ai abimé cette fresque ..
Ce devait être superbe
Bonne journée
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Claudine, but time has only added to the beauty, from my perspective. So much mystery!
What a find Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: I know, Bill, especially since we knew nothing about it from our travel books. I have a feeling new editions will finally cover it!
Fantastic murals Ginnie, you did use your time well.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Chad. We did use our time well, indeed!
IT'S MAY, time to scare the bejazuz out of Elaine lolol
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHAHA! I still laugh about the fact it was NOT creepy at all to us, though looking back on it, it should have been!
What a brightness this brings to the underground.
Ginnie Hart: That's a good way of seeing it, Mary!
Just WOW! The colors are amazing!
Ginnie Hart: We still are amazed by it, Robin, especially since it's not in the travel books. We got lucky that day!

This place makes for excellent pictures. Like some modern artist had a go.
Ginnie Hart: It definitely has that feel to it, Louis!

Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.

How fortunate that at least this much has survived.
Ginnie Hart: I totally agree, Brian.
It's amazing they've survived at all!
Ginnie Hart: I quite agree, Tom!
Ha ha... Did you the hairy monkey there?

Ginnie Hart: OMG, LC. What a disaster! Poor Cecilia (and family) who will never live that down. sad
Oh. my. That is stunning.
Ginnie Hart: You should see the entire crypt, Michael. Unbelievable.
superbe fresque!! amitiés
Ginnie Hart: You'd love it there, JP, if you've not yet seen it. It's in the church across from the railway station.
