Short of Eyes

Yesterday Astrid and I returned home from Venice and Verona.

Let's just say it's all a dream and we're letting it all sink in!

good that you both had a fantastic vacation and now are back home. i like how the painter made it very realistic, even with the light spot.
Ginnie Hart: As you know, Ayush, we LOVE traveling together, being Partners In Crime, as we like to say. But it's always good to come back home. We were super impressed by this "unknown" crypt in Venice!

I have enjoyed my vicarious vacation in V & V with you on Facebook, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Most kind of you, Ray, to have followed along on yet another ride of a lifetime! We'll never forget it.
This is very special, isn't it. We've all enjoyed your FB posts! So glad you are home safely!!
Ginnie Hart: It can't possibly get MORE special, Elizabeth, especially knowing you've been following along on FB. THANK YOU.
Jolie peinture, dommage qu'elle ne soit pas restaurée.
Ginnie Hart: This is a wall fresco in a crypt from centuries ago, Martine, and is probably not meant to be "restored." To be honest, for how old it is, it's in great shape, in my humble opinion.
A nice summary of the passage of the centuries.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Michael. I thought so, too.

When I saw the thumbnail I thought this was somebody swimming Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Or drowning, Chris??? You would have loved this crypt, much of which was even macabre.

Welcome back, Ginnie. What an amazing image
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Lisl. As you know, it's always good to get away and just as good to come back home.

To me it is mind blowing that after all these years this was still visible. I would think that all the water and the damp weather is not the exact good circumstances to preserve things. We had a great vacation. Thank you Ginnie, for being my partner 'in travels'....
Ginnie Hart: This was the perfect ending to our time in Venice, especially at a site that most people have never heard about, let alone seen. I guess it has just recently come to light! And yes, we are such perfect travelers together, great Partners in Crime. I wouldn't want it to be anyone else!

What a wonderful introitus to your comeback to SC - a wonderful image - I have to look where San Simeon Piccolo church is situated in Venice.
Ginnie Hart: You're so kind, Philine. Thank you. This church is directly across from the entrance to the train station in Venice, across the Grand Canal. It's the only church in Venice where the Mass is still celebrated in Latin every day.

Ginnie Hart: Thank you, JP. You'd love this crypt!

Welcome back! That little face has gazed out over so many events in its lifetime.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Alan. As for this face, I'm afraid it has been sheltered from a lot, hidden away in this crypt below the canal levels of Venice. One wonders how it has ever survived?!
interesting painting... reminds me of how we process our photography these days... welcome home, you two!
Ginnie Hart: Most interesting, indeed, Elaine. I still can't believe what we saw in that crypt! Thanks for the welcome back home!
Interesting painting, good photo Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Roland.
A beautiful image Ginnie. Glad you are back in one piece. I hope you found Venice choc-a-bloc with art.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Chad. Full to overflowing! I guess that's what choc-a-bloc means, right?! smile

Nice piece of art!
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Anne. And it's only one small part of a large complex underground!
From the pics on facebook you clearly had a wonderful time Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Bill. Like Malta last year, it was another trip of a lifetime!
Could be a piece of modern art, couldn't it?
Ginnie Hart: I suppose so, Tom!
This looks like a precious find.
Ginnie Hart: I think that crypt has just recently been uncovered for tourists, Mary, but I'm not sure why!
That must be many years old. I'm not on FB so I'm looking forward to seeing your V.& V.shots on your In Soul once you've had time to get them uploaded, and of course I always enjoy your narrative on there as well.
Ginnie Hart: If it's as old as the church, Brian, yes! Most kind of you to follow me on In Soul, where very definitely I will start the Journey in image and word. Thank you.
An angelic dream--did you get to fly?
Ginnie Hart: Only in my spirit, Larry!
How come you didn't have any gelato in Verona, G?
I know the best gelato place in Verona, it's near the Old Bridge.
Did you go there? wink

Can't wait to see your holiday photos!
Ginnie Hart: I think maybe we were all gelatoed out by the time we got to Verona, LC. Besides, there wasn't a shop right across the street from us, like in Venice. So, which of all the bridges is the OLD bridge, I wonder??? I think we crossed or saw all of them!

PS: Looking forward to seeing your photos smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks for your vote of confidence. smile
I am glad you had a good vacation.
That painting s amazing. The distressed state actually gives it a wonderful look.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you and thank you, Michael. I'll have the "second blessing" as I go through the images, of course! smile
Oh how I love this wall!! Can't wait to see more and so happy you all had the opportunity to visit this part of Italy!!
Ginnie Hart: I am getting ready to post on In Soul about the cemetery in Verona, Robin, after which I plan to do a post on this crypt. It really was a wonder!
It's nice to hear and see that you guys had a blast in Venice! Fabulous!
