Windmill Friday

This windmill across the river from us in Woudrichem, NL, is called Nooit Gedagt = Never Thought.

The windmill a block from us in Gorinchem, NL, is Nooit Volmaakt = Never Perfect.

Okay, then.

Nice one, Ginnie...especially against that gorgeous sky.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ray. The Dutch skies are more often than not quite dramatic, but sometimes they are just like this.
Well it's a perfect shot, would be my thoughts! smile
Ginnie Hart: Most kind of you, Elizabeth. Thank you.

This is perfect to me and 'what's in a name'... sometimes these names goes back to the year of 1200.. and a lot can change overtime.
Love the blue and what a great angle.
Ginnie Hart: What's in a name, indeed. As you know, Astrid, I almost always have to figure out what they mean! But when I realize even you don't know, I feel a bit better. HA!

Ginnie Hart: I love the Dutch names, too, Philine. smile And yes, especially under a clear blue sky.

Do you ever get blasé about seeing these find giants, Ginnie, being so close to home? I wonder what went through the minds of the people naming these? It looks wonderful against the blue of the sky.
Ginnie Hart: No, Alan, NEVER. NOOIT! It's a good word. smile Thank you.

Do all your local windmills have such thoughtful names, Ginnie?
Ginnie Hart: Some of them are as "simple" as De Hope, Lisl...The Hope. smile

Ginnie Hart: Ah. Thanks for the explanation, JP.
I like the idea of windmills having names Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I do, too, Bill. All of them have names! smile

Ginnie Hart: "Never Say Never." HA! If there is one, I surely want to know about it, Elaine. Thanks.

Looks as if it had a touch of fire. Beautiful with the stark blue.
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Louis, this is the replacement of the mill that was destroyed during the war in 1945. What you see here is probably my quirky processing.

Très joli!
Ginnie Hart: Merci, Anne.
I did not know windmills had names. Learn something new every day. Thank you.
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Mary. The names are very important, too, I'm sure.
I like the idea that they have names other than Gorinchem Windmill or some such.
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Brian!
superbe moulin!! amitiés
Ginnie Hart: I love the Dutch mills, JP.
Not having fun in Neverland, G?!

Let me know when you find one

Hey, how's my Dutch? Not bad, eh?
Ginnie Hart: HA! Leave it to you, LC, to come up with a name like that! smile
Nice pov, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Tom.

Beautifulsmile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Joshi, and it's nice to see you again!
That certainly is a beauty. I guess you probably get tired of hearing that.
Ginnie Hart: I never get tired of seeing the windmills of Holland, Michael, so I never get tired of hearing that they are beauties. smile

Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Cherry. What is it about windmills?!

Ginnie Hart: Believe it or not, Ayush, I took this when you were with us that day! smile
Very nice framing Ginnie. And what beautiful blue sky !
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Marie. I love the windmills of Holland in whatever weather but the blue skies are very special, indeed.
Is there one called Never Mind? smile
