Lovely. You have the best mist in your part of the world.
Ginnie Hart: That particular day had the added benefit of the frost, Michael, because the temps were just below freezing. We OFTEN get the fog without the frost. Thanks.

You are making great use of frost and fog, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ray. That day was definitely a photographer's dream!
Looks pretty looong... smile
This sis a really lovely foggy image, Ginnie - love how the distance just disappears!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elizabeth. Fog is a photographer's great delight, as I'm sure you already know.
Longboat ! Where are the Vikings ? Nice misty shot, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: The Vikings are always lurking around the corner, Frank. smile Thanks.

The shelter-harbour', this place is used when the weather is too rough to travel the river. Often used for these extreme long barges. What a great picture. Love the way the world 'ends' behind the barge. Fabulous picture.
Ginnie Hart: I always learn from you about these things, of course. We're so lucky to have this in our own backyard. Thank you, Astrid!

wow i'm stunned by the beauty of the fog and the frost!! and that boat would make a most excellent live aboard lol
Ginnie Hart: That day of fog and frost was indeed exceptional, Elaine. I was so glad Astrid made me promise to go out for the walk. Those barges, btw, are live-ins for those who drive them up and down the big rivers, to and from Germany. You can see their cars and bikes on top when they pass by. I've actually been on board one and have decided I could do that! smile

Well they can't build up as it would not get under the bridges so let's go long. I like just the hint of the early peachy light.
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Alan. Sometimes I can't believe how long they can get! Thanks.

I'm always intrigued by those huge barges Ginnie, we don't see these in the UK
Ginnie Hart: I know you are, Chris. I remember how much you and Chad were mesmerized by them!

Worth braving the frost and fog for, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Lisl. You'd be happy to know that I'm sticking to my goal of walking outside at least one more time each week. smile
One of those big barges makes a fine subject in these conditions
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeedy, Bill!

Meilleurs vœux pour 2017
JP
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, JP. I hate it but I tried going to your blog again today and got a "threat alert." Do you know what that's about???
I am loving your frost photos, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Mary. I really had a heyday that day, as you can tell!
Definitely much bigger than our narrow boats as you well know by now. I presume the bit at the stern is living quarters as well as the working area.
Ginnie Hart: When Chad and Chris were here they just stared at these boats, Brian, so I do know they are unusual for you in the UK. Yes, there is a living quarters section. Many who run these barges actually live on them. What a life!
A fine dreamy wintry scene Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: If there had been snow, Chad, I suppose it would look entirely different!
SO happy we get to see more of that special frosty morning! Have a great weekend!
Ginnie Hart: As long as you aren't bored, Robin!!! Thank you.
He he... Guess what?!
It's the first Black Friday of the day, G! Can't believe you didn't mention this.wink
Ginnie Hart: Black Friday? Is that what Friday the 13th is called? If so, I think a bunch of us never thought of that till much later!
Perfect photo Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Most kind of you, Roland. Thank you.
a very long low boat Ginnie... it doesn't interfere with the misty atmosphere at all....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: I love these barges that come and go all day long where we live, Peter. They usually don't interfere with anything!
i feel a bit cold just looking at it, Ginnie. in a nice way - i like the atmosphere of the fog.
Ginnie Hart: That you you could even cut the cold, Ayush. smile I, too, love the fog. Thank you.
jolie prise avec une belle ambiance! amitiés
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
I like this cold and misty atmosphere
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Marie. It was a very special day...a mixture of cold and fog to make the frost.
