Agreed Ginnie. What a powerful saying with a great image of the synagogue. A lot of people must have sat in those chairs.
Ginnie Hart: We really can't live without light, Emily, can we! Thank you.
Beautiful light, and a wonderful saying...
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elizabeth. The first thing I said to Astrid when we entered that space was something about how light it was.

I don't recall ever seeing a 9 candle menorah before, Ginnie...I am accustomed to a 7 branch one.
Ginnie Hart: Funny you should mention that, Ray, because I thought the same and so Googled it. The 9-branched Menorah is used during the 8-day holiday of Hanukkah while the 7-branched Menorah is used in the temple. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menorah_(Hanukkah)

Fabulous POV and I love the softtones here. Great quote with it. I think Adrie also will like this picture....
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, MLMA. I was delighted to hear that our friend, Adrie, had carved the Menorah from a 100o-yr-old piece of oak. This Jewish assembly is lucky to have it.
Very nice. You always find the perfect processing.
Ginnie Hart: Most kind of you, Michael. Thank you.

a wonderful treatment to enhance the atmosphere in this synagogue - I see the Ark containing the Thora rolls, the Bima ...
Ginnie Hart: You would love this synagogue, Philine. It is small but powerful in its simplicity.

This must be a synagogue?
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Chris...the only synagogue in the world that's built on a dijk.
Fabulous perspective leading to the Star of David Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Richard. It was quite a powerful place.

Even before I saw your notes, I thought "synagogue". I would certainly need those cushions if I was sat on the rear bench.
Ginnie Hart: Like with your English churches, Alan, this one comes prepared! smile And yes, this is the only synagogue in the world that's built on a dijk.
The perfect processing, good photo!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
Nice image. The story makes it.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Rob. I'll never forget the place.

Ginnie Hart: Yes, Lisl. I agree. You'd love it..so small but powerful.

Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, JP.
Well that is a first Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Sir Chad.
I love the clarity of the wood grain.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Mary. I do, too.
Thanks for thee explanation about the Menorah, this is a very plain synagogue, I have never been in one of these.
Ginnie Hart: You're welcome, Brian. We all learn from each other, don't we!
I really like the composition of this Ginnie and the treatment suits it beautifully
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
this is an amazing old synagogue Ginnie... i love the way that you framed and treated it to show its age....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Peter. If a synagogue is open, I always want to go in.
A visit to the synagogue is not complete without some skullcap photos, G! You should know that. wink
Ginnie Hart: Actually, I have those, too, LC, if you scroll down in this post from my other blog: http://ginniehart.blogspot.nl/2016/06/the-dike-synagogue-in-sliedrecht-nl.html smile
First in gets a cushion.
Ginnie Hart: Looks like you may be right, Martin. smile

I love the angle from which you have taken this.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Cherry.
Great perspective and interesting to read your comments about the menorah!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Robin. Sometimes it's when posting an image that I get my own education!
love your angle on this Ginnie, that is a magnificent candle-stand and i could look at it for a long while.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ayush. We know the man who carved the Menorah on his wood turner. It's a real beauty.
