well they are all dressed for the fight Ginnie... wonderful find and image....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Definitely dressed for the occasion, Peter. Thank you.
En France, on les appelait les croisés car ils partaient pour des guerres qui s'appelaient les croisades.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Marytine. The Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta was founded following the conquest of Jerusalem in 1099 during the First Crusade.

They seem a bit like Ned Kelly dolls, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, then....a real bushwhacker! smile
They are quite something - and I really like your angle to show how many, and the different kinds! Did you take one home?
Ginnie Hart: Now that you mention it, I can't believe we DIDN'T buy one for our collectibles cabinets! Oh my. That would have been fun....
What a colection Ginnie! Very nicely captured.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Richard. I can't believe we didn't buy one to put in our collectibles cabinet!

What a surprising array, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: One is led to believe that the Maltese are quite proud of their knights, Lisl. smile

I loved all those knights. It is sure that Malta is proud of them.
Great shot of the display. I just now realized we should have taken one home with us.... a small one.
Ginnie Hart: It was a surprise to see these everywhere, showing how much the Maltese really ARE proud of their history. And, yes, we should have brought one home for our display cabinet!

Is this something to do with their heritage or just fantasy Ginnie?
Ginnie Hart: Definitely a part of the Maltese history, Chris. The Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta was founded following the conquest of Jerusalem in 1099 during the First Crusade...now called the Knights of Malta.

Oh yes, they have done many good and less good fights.
Ginnie Hart: (sigh) One hardly knows how to think of them, Philine, but the Maltese sure are proud of them!
I expect that children like these Ginnie, but imagine having to wear all that stuff and fight!
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Chad. Not exactly my cuppa tea.

I should have left this to the evening then I could have said ...night, night wink I'm sure I have built something similar from a plastic kit when I was a nipper.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Good play on words, Alan. I can picture a lot of kids playing with these action figures...like from a fantasy world!
I am ready for the fight but dressed in casual clothes, nothing exciting like your Maltese fighters.
Ginnie Hart: Good for you, Mary. I can picture you fighting the good fight.

They seem to be moving, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: They're prepared to fight, Pauline, for sure.

Dressed to kill.

I always wondered about these guys, when they go visit Lady Guinevere. They have to undress with spanners and pliers.
Ginnie Hart: LOL. And when they undress, they're definitely not ready for battle. grin
Wow! What an inventory! Cool!
Ginnie Hart: Now we wish we had purchased one for our display cabinet!!!
belle mise en valeur de cette superbe collection!! amitiés
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
So is that the Maltese cross, Victoria cross or St John's cross? wink
Ginnie Hart: My understanding is it's the Maltese Cross, LC, but who knows what else it may be called!
I wonder how many of those they dispose of in a year!
Ginnie Hart: It would have been one more if we had thought about it, Tom. It would be fun to have one of them on display in our cabinet.

Oh, how fun! It reminds me of Medieval Times in Toronto! But I suppose these are much smaller smile
Ginnie Hart: They came in all different sizes, Emily, and now Astrid and I are kicking ourselves that we didn't buy a small one for our display cabinet!
They are ready for action. That one guy seems to have noticed you and is posing just for you.
Ginnie Hart: They were all showing off, I think, Michael, because they noticed how delighted I was. smile
