Bien vue cette boussole.
Ginnie Hart: It was fun to spot this one, Martine.
I bet you found your way easily Ginnie! Fine capture.
Ginnie Hart: It also helped that Philine met up with us there, Richard , and continued to show us around (after our first hour on our own). smile
Oh how funny a drain cover as a compass Ginnie, I have never seen the like before.
Ginnie Hart: Come to think of it, Chad, this may be the first for me, too! smile

That is a great find, I wonder if the compass is accurate and pointing into the right direction. I still am automatic pilot now, I hope that will change in the next hour...
Wonderful composition.
Ginnie Hart: It was fun to spot it there in Tecklenburg as we were walking about, MLMA. The things we find!
belle prise! amitiés
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, JP.

Is this in case you get disorientated on the sidewalk Ginnie?
Ginnie Hart: What intrigued me most about this, Chris, is that it wasn't out in the middle of the walk but was up close to the building. I don't usually see that with manhole covers.
fine details and great capture
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Massimo.

What your sharp photo eyes did discover!
Ginnie Hart: It was a fun day and a fun place, Philine...especially sharing it with you and Mechtild.
A useful drain cover Ginnie....I never know which way is north
Ginnie Hart: HA! I suppose it comes in helpful to someone, Bill. smile

Ce n'est pas le moment de perdre le nord !
JP
Ginnie Hart: Never lose the North bearing, JP. Never. smile Isn't it funny how important that is to us after all these eons!
I know where I am but our time change has me up one hour late.
Ginnie Hart: That time change wreaks havoc on us here in Europe, Mary, because our time doesn't change till 2 weeks from now. (sigh) It's one thing to change time but to do it at different times around the world just messes things up more, imho.

You can get your bearings if that lid was properly placed for direction smile
Ginnie Hart: I suppose so, Louis, but who knows for sure???

If this is a manhole of some sort, I wonder if you need a compass to reset it should you need to lift it? Do you check it with a decent map to make sure it was aligned corectly?
Ginnie Hart: To be honest, Alan, I never once verified the accuracy of this compass! smile
In which direction is down then Ginnie?
Ginnie Hart: Beats me, Brian! smile
What a curious place for a compass... I love the grittiness...
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Larry. It seems to be a strange place for a manhole cover, however, right??!

ooooh i love the combo of dark blues and browns, i don't know why that combo always gets me, but it does
Ginnie Hart: I agree, Elaine. I've always liked blues and browns together!

She is beautiful this access to sewers plate. Very nice central star
Ginnie Hart: It surprised me, Marie, because I don't think I've ever seen a compass on top of a manhole cover. Merci.
northeast becomes an emphatic NO (nord-ost) here, Ginnie. well spotted. i wonder if there is a mechanism to make sure every time it is installed, it indeed points to the right direction or is it up to human positioning.
Ginnie Hart: Good question, Ayush, because we sure wouldn't want to be led astray! smile

Nicely spotted smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Cherry.
A fine grate!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Tom.
If that is a manhole cover (or personhole cover?) do they have to align it properly after doing work?
Ginnie Hart: That is my guess, Michael...or at least let's HOPE so! We wouldn't want to be led astray.
excellent textures smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Joshi.
this will keep you on the right path Ginnie... great find and a superb composition....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Peter. Let's just hope the last one who put it back on positioned it properly!

I like this useful manhole cover, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I do, too, Ray, though it does seem a bit too close to the building?
What a great addition to your manhole cover series! A great one!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Robin, and I agree. smile
