Speaking of butt holes, this is the more sophisticated version near the beach.

Yes...much better, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I thought so, too, Ray. Leave it to the Dutch.
Cool shot. I suppose the fume must be interesting as the smouldering butts emit their deadly fumes.
Ginnie Hart: I'm hoping the butts are basically dead by the time they get there, Michael??
you find these butt holes all over the place Ginnie...
good shot....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: This is only the second one I've found, Peter, but now I'll keep looking. smile Thanks.

those must stink to walk by and sniff lol like any butt hole i guess hahahaha
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Elaine, there was a drizzle in the air, so I smelled nothing...thankfully. smile
smile I've never seen one quite like this - Whatever works!

When we were up at the Grand Canyon's North Rim, I saw a woman throw her cigarette on the ground. She stomped it out with her shoe- -but it was all Frank could do to keep me from picking it up and throwing it in her face! How do the words "drought", "wildfire", "natural wonder", "National Park".... somehow invite people to use our world as their personal ash tray? Sorry - I'll get off my soap box now... smile
Ginnie Hart: I totally understand the rage, Elizabeth, especially at such a place. Don't you wish we could put the tobacco companies out of business!!!

It's interesting they use ENGLISH Ginnie: are we the worst offenders?
Ginnie Hart: I doubt it, Chris. I suppose it's because English is the "universal" language. This beach is next door to Den Haag, so people from all over the world visit it daily.

Is this going to be the subject of your next collection (after windmills and weather-vanes)? (Sorry, Ginnie!)
Ginnie Hart: I hope not, Lisl. In my 5+ years here, these are the first two I've ever noticed, thankfully.

This is a good idea - those holes should be introduced in our country, too, I didn't see them yet.
Ginnie Hart: It was my first time, Philine. Maybe it has already given ideas to others?

This looks more sophisticated, it is like the same concept as the ceramic fly in a man's urinal
http://www.vskins.nl/urinoirsticker_vlieg4
It seems to work with this 'butt hole'... all are tossed in.
Great shot.
Ginnie Hart: HA! I love that ceramic fly in the urinal. Well, anything that works makes sense to me! Thanks.
Is this an incitement to smoke Ginnie? Great find!
Ginnie Hart: Makes you wonder, Richard!! Thanks.

Si seulement tes photos donnaient envie d'arrêter de fumer à  ceux qui les regardent... beaucoup d'impact.
Ginnie Hart: So true, Marie. So true! (sigh)
This must be inviting for people, possibly even to give up smoking altogether Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: One would hope so, Chad??!!
This is odd?! Isn't that going to block the drainage system? He he... Well, it's the NE right? People do things differently there, I guess. wink
Ginnie Hart: I would hope this is not connected to the drainage system at all, LC??! HA!
That is quite ingenious but I imagine it gets smoldering quite often.
Ginnie Hart: One does wonder, Mary. (sigh)
Still pretty gross though isn't it. You might find this interesting http://magazine.good.is/articles/leave-our-butthole-alone This lane is right at the back of our road, we walk along it quite frequently.
Ginnie Hart: HA! I love the link, Brian. Thanks for including it. Well, then. That's settled. smile
So interesting! I've never seen anything like this...and so agree with Elizabeth from Flagstaff...we are not the world's ash tray! It drives me insane.
Ginnie Hart: I've never seen anything like it either, Robin. It's at least better than the one in Brussels. Still, I wish there didn't need to be any anywhere in the whole wide world.

This is better; the fag ends are more out of sight. I'm almost afraid to say but it looks as though someone has urinated against the wall on the left sad
Ginnie Hart: That's surely possible, Alan, though it was also raining intermittently that day. Hmmm.
I recall the sign that used to say If the floor is full please use the ashtray
Ginnie Hart: HA! Good one, Bill.
But why in English, one wonders?
Ginnie Hart: Probably because it caters to a huge international community on the outskirts of The Hague, Tom.
there are many of these in the US... some are running for office...
Ginnie Hart: So true, Larry. So true. (sigh)

JP
Ginnie Hart: Awww. Thank you, JP. smile
It seems to be working Ginnie. What a good idea
Ginnie Hart: Well, it at least beats the alternative?
