I have the impression you are eagerly anticipating this visit, Ginnie!! smile
Ginnie Hart: Ummmmm...I wonder where you got THAT idea, Ray!!!! smile
Oh how exciting Ginnie!! I know you two are especially close - I'm so happy for you! And what a wonderful find in this photo!
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Elizabeth. I know I'll remember this the rest of my life and hope he will, too!
That will be an exciting two weeks!
Ginnie Hart: You can say that again, Michael. smile

A celebration of his coming, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Lisl. I was awake from 3-5 this morning at the time he was at the gate and them pushing off. Amy says the play left shortly before 10:30p/4:30a, on time. YAY. He's on his way!!! We plan to leave the house around 10:30a for the Amsterdam airport.

You can show him the sights of Hollandshire then Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Chris. Every day we plan to show him something! And one day we'll even drive to Brussels just to say we did it (like going to Washington, D.C. in America, I told him). We'll even have mussels in Brussels. smile

what the heck???? did you weave him a royal carpet??? lol that's above and beyond even martha stewart!!!!! this pic made me smile
Ginnie Hart: You can imagine how thrilled I was to see this that day, Elaine, with his name. Lucky for me, Nicholas is such a "church" name. I see it almost everywhere I go. smile

A few more hours and we will see him in real life.
The moment I saw that pillow in the church I knew you would use it smile
A great tribute to a great young man. smile
Ginnie Hart: With every minute it's getting more and more exciting. We're worse than little kids right now. HA!

Je me souviens de ce coussin qui m'avait intriguée lors de ma visite à  la cathédrale de Salisbury. Je te souhaite de belles journées avec ton petit fils Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Marie. There are so many churches named after St. Nicholas. It makes me smile every time I find such a namesake. smile
What a great way to welcome him. It is like setting a place at the table for him.
Ginnie Hart: I really like that thought, Mary. Thank you.
Yea, it's about time Nick learn how to eat herring like his nan. Yes, the Dutch way, of course. wink

So what's for dinner again? :p
Ginnie Hart: G'ma doesn't eat herring, LC, but Astrid does. Let's see if see can convince him to try it. HA! Dinner tonight is his favorite meal: chicken paprikash. I made it yesterday so it's all ready to eat! smile

Have a wonderful time, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Pauline. You know we will. smile
Have a wonderful two weeks Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Janet. We plan to. smile
How exciting for you Ginnie, and very much so for him.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Chad. You already know about grandchildren...but I have only this one!

There's something to look forward to, then. Has he been to Europe before? I like the bold colour here against the old stonework.
Ginnie Hart: No, Alan. This is his first time out of the country, even though he has traveled a lot in America. He is already having a blast (but is sleeping right now after a restless night on the plane).
Great news Ginnie. Enjoy these two weeks with your grandson!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Richard. I am really looking forward to these two weeks, exploring this country through HIS eyes.

Oh, that is exciting! It is a long time since I have last seen something of him - he was maybe 9 or 10 then. Playing soccer or something like that. And now he is 15 ... Another reminder how long I have been on SC. Whatever, enjoy your time together and keep him out of the A'dam coffee shops. Rather introduce him to Tom Poezen, speculaas, patat and such - but he is probably too old for that kind of treats (I will never be smile)
Ginnie Hart: He is not too old for those treats, Louis...trust me. We have already had a great first day...and now he is sound asleep after little to no sleep on the plane during the night. We're all tired right now. HA!
I hope you are having a great time Ginnie!!
Ginnie Hart: We're off to a great start, Bill. Thanks. Nicholas is now sound asleep, after little to no sleep on the overnight flight. And Astrid and I are both exhausted! HA!
Good to read he's arrived o.k., I bet you have lots of stuff lined up for the next two weeks. What a shame you couldn't slip this beautiful kneeler in your luggage especially for your best boy.
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Brian, on all counts. We're off to a great start!
How wonderful! Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy!!!
Ginnie Hart: You better believe it, Robin!

JP
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, JP.
I bet you will have a great time...
Ginnie Hart: So far, Larry, we're all having a blast...and are already zonked out. We're taking every other day easy, seeing something nearby for just a couple hours and not for the whole day.
somebody is going to get pampered for 2 weeks, it seems smile have a great time ahead.
excellent shot of the woven work.
Ginnie Hart: Someone is getting VERY pampered, Ayush, and it's feeling good all around! That's what grandmas get to do. smile
Perfect way to announce his visit. Have fun!!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Jacquelyn. It's been GREAT thus far.
