Some very happy cows- one who needs milking! Very nice composition, Ginnie!! I did just finish dinner, as a matter of fact - and no one was watching. Well, except for Bella, who walked away after I offered her some broccoli! smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! A real-life story to complement this image, Elizabeth. I love it. Thank you.

This is how it should be, cows in the meadow....
A wonderful sight and something I will always enjoy.
Wonderful picture.
Ginnie Hart: I always say "The sheep's in the meadow, the cow's in the corn" when we're out-n-about like this. Most of the time there's no corn, of course, but you get the point. I LOVE the Dutch cows!!! Bedandt, MLMA.

Grass is star here, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Cow power, Ray! smile
They have plenty to eat here! Superb capture Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Enough for a few more cows to join, if they wish, Richard. Thanks.
It looks like it is almost milking time.
Ginnie Hart: I believe so, Michael. HA!

"I never saw a Purple Cow,
I never hope to see one;
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one."
by Gelett Burgess 1895
Ginnie Hart: HA! I've always loved that little ditty, Lisl. Thanks for reminding me of it! smile

Yes, we are in the Dutch polder - I love the willows - when will they break out? Like you I love the Dutch cows.
You surely know this gedichtje by Schippers:

De koe

Een koe
is een merkwaardig beest
wat er ook in haar geest
moge zijn
haar laatste woord
is altijd
boe
Ginnie Hart: The cow

A cow
is a curious beast
whatever is in her mind
may be
her last word
is always
Moo.

I love how the Dutch word for cow rhymes with the Dutch word for moo, Philine. It tickles me every time I hear it. smile The willows, as you can see in Astrid's image today, are finally breaking out in full form!

I am always a little bit sad when I see trees cut like that but one needs for a beautiful regrowth. I like the black cows.
Ginnie Hart: Those willows keep coming back stronger and fuller every year because of the pollarding, Marie. And in the meantime, all those willow branches are used for making fences and sub-platforms for the dijks. It's quite a sustainable system!

I, too, like the black cows! They look so happy. smile

The German word 'Kuh' for cow rhymes with the lovely sound 'Muuhhh', too!
Ginnie Hart: Ahhhh. Language is so fun, Philine, isn't it!

Headless cows! Hhah.. lost in the long succulent grass, obviously good for milk production looking at one of them. The trees have ad some serious surgery. I'm workinh at home today so grazing is not an issue wink
Ginnie Hart: Those trees are surely almost full-grown with willow branches right now, Alan, like in Astrid's image today. But yes, that succulent grass. What could possible be better for the cows and our milk??!!

Enjoy working at home today. Are you still in your pj's??? grin
I see many people eating as if no one is watching Ginnie. Cows look very graceful.
Ginnie Hart: I need to find another word besides "graze," Chad. Can you help me come up with one??? HA!
The larder looks full Ginnie smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! Yes, indeed, Bill. grin

A lovely sight, Ginnie. Don't they have gleaming coats.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Pauline, and YES.
Busy making milk, these cows are happy and content. Lovely, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes. Happier cows you cannot find. smile
Ha ha... Funny that you mentioned this G!
Guess what I saw last weekend on the countryside!
They were humping each other.
How audacious like on one's watching as you put it!
Ginnie Hart: And for that supreme moment, dear LC, we must always keep our eyes wide open!!! grin

A couple of cows and some sheep could help saving on lawnmower fuel. Wish I could be there for a week - I love Dutch summers.
Ginnie Hart: I actually quite enjoy everywhere that the grass is allowed to grow, Louis, especially in the spring with all the wildflowers. But yes, the cows and sheep are so healthy here in the Netherlands!

Whenever you come back, please let us know far enough ahead of time so that we can plan our calendar around you. As I recall, we we gone the last time you were here!

Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, JP.
Wow and they've nibbled all the trees too! Cute capture! Wonderful to understand the sustainable system they have with these willows too!
Ginnie Hart: It really is wonderful, Robin, isn't it! Thank you.
They've got plenty to chew on!
Ginnie Hart: Over and over again, Tom, yes! smile

What a beautiful scene ... i really need to take a drive in the country. No such scenes in the big city
Ginnie Hart: This is what I so love about where we live, Emily. In just a handful of minutes we can be out in the boonies, enjoying such tranquil scenes!

Ginnie Hart: Yes, they are, JP.
Plenty there to keep them going for a while Ginnie. They are looking in good condition
Ginnie Hart: They're surely in cow heaven, Janet! smile
Really nice ambiance!
