photoblog image We're Out for Lunch

We're Out for Lunch

Wij zijn even eten = We're out for lunch!

Astrid and I are sight-seeing in the Alkmaar-Bergen-Callantsoog area of the Netherlands yesterday and today.

Gotta get my walking and gawking exercise, you know.  :)

Fine detail from a well-used work shed, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ray. We were short of eyes there.
A wonderful shot - and a great "be back soon" message... enjoy your time!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you and thank you, Elizabeth. We had a fabulous day yesterday and are looking forward to another one today.
Enjoy every minute!
Ginnie Hart: So far, Robin, we have. Today looks to be another fabulous day. Thank you.
lol walking and gawking... i've never heard that saying before... nice shot, love the old wood textures!
Ginnie Hart: "Walking and gawking" just came to me while I was writing the text, Elaine. Not bag for an old foggie, right? smile. Thanks.

(I have to wait till we get home to comment on your last posts. It's not showing the image on my iPad when I go to a specific day.)
Wonderful composition Ginnie! Have a great time.
Ginnie Hart: Many kind thanks, Richard. Yesterday was fabulous and today looks to be the same.

One of the beter signs tonussen in oud case.....hè die à  great job with the calligraphy.
A wonderful shot and I got some great images on my morning.walk.
Ginnie Hart: I still have great memories of all the time we spent talking to the calligrapher in the shop. You and he had so much to talk about. And it reminded me of my years of calligraphy...as well as yours and my dad's.

So glad you got out for your walk. The early bird gets the worm!
It's a funny place to display it Ginnie, not many people will see that.
Ginnie Hart: Just the right people see it, Chad. smile
Very nice details and process Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Marie.

I am so pleased that you are getting out as usual, and spotting these odd things for us, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: You know me, Lisl...can't keep me down for long! Astrid says I was back to a walking gait that meant she often had to chase me to keep up with me. HA! She's baaaack!!! smile
Good to hear you are getting plenty of walking.....and a bit of gawking too.

Nice picture
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Bill. You can't keep a good girl down for long. grin

I was trying to figure out what kind of place it comes from!
Ginnie Hart: This is from an open-air museum in the Netherlands, Anne...one of the best I've ever seen. This particular image is from a sign shop where the calligrapher was actually on the premises, doing his work.
It is good to get away for a few gays. Have fun.
Ginnie Hart: A few days for a few gays. HA! Thanks, Mary.

Right at top "vrouwen fluiten" - so what is it that the girls are whistling at? Êèn heerlijk rommelrig plaatje. Zover gaat 't noch goed. Had noch alleen goede rapporten van de schoonfamilie. Netjes.
Ginnie Hart: So glad you had nothing bad to report from the in-laws, Louis. Whew. We did our best to whistle along as we walked. smile
Strange they don't say "Gone fishing" in Holland.
They do eat a lot of herring, right? wink
Ginnie Hart: I suppose they do say something like that, LC, but without Astrid sitting right here to tell me, I'm at a loss. HA! But, yes, they do eat a lot of herring. smile
Glad to hear you are getting out and about again Ginnie, and sharing your findings with us
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Janet. Now that we're back home, I'm antsy to start tackling all the images. smile
I love all the old stuff in this picture. Hope you've enjoyed your couple of days away.
Ginnie Hart: I love stuff like this, too. Thanks. We had a great time!

Enjoy you trip; I like the idea of walking and gawking - that's my sort of fun, too smile I like the old cans - no doubt full fo stuff that is no longer allowed these days.
Ginnie Hart: Walking and gawking is sometimes just what the doctor ordered, Alan. I can never get too much of it...unless it's at that point in the day when we both say "It's time to stop!"

And, yes, I'm sure you're right about whatever's in those cans...or what used to be in them. I love the effect of them still lying around.
How's the knee coming along?
Ginnie Hart: The knee is progressing very well, Tom, in spite of fluid build-up that will supposedly last a year, they say. I just know when to stop and elevate the leg! Thanks for asking.
nicely captured here Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Ronky.

This is a wonderful composition of the old sign shop Ginnie... i see the shamrocks on the table... they fit in well with my Irish theme this week smile
....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Yes, with St. Paddy's Day around the corner, it does fit in well, Peter. Thanks.
excellent sharpness here and much to see, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ayush. I love these open-air museum shops...reenacting days of yore!
