I think the weekend helps us mend our sails ;-)
Ginnie Hart: Very good point, Cherry! I think you're right.

what an interesting picture, and it looks so great in black and white! come see my picture today and cast your vote, i have to choose between continuing with my old blog, or continuing with the new blog
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elaine. And regarding your blog(s), I don't care which one you use because I'll follow whatever your heart wants.
the coils of rope really dominate the image Ginnie, looking good in b/w
Ginnie Hart: Many kind thanks, Ayush. I was quite mesmerized by this room.
A lovely black and white shot. Such crisp whites
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Michael.

Always good to be prepared. However the weather-prediction is a nice and calm weekend.
Let's set the sail to an easy ride.
Great B&W. Love the toolbox, we call that recycling smile
Ginnie Hart: I have a feeling you're very familiar with what that mender was doing that day. I could watch this stuff for hours! Hartstikke bedankt, MLMA.
it's amazing how they used these mend them with the round handles needles... we had one like that when i was a boy that would mend leather... shoes or to make harnesses for your dog... great crisp shot....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: It's all really fascinating to me, Peter, and reminds me that when you have the right tool, you can do just about anything! smile
I want to have the same tool bag Ginnie...Superb image!
Ginnie Hart: It's very special, Richard, isn't it! Thanks.

I have done some research into Michael's family history, and one of his ancestors was a sail-mender on the East coast of England
Ginnie Hart: I would think such a profession would never be left wanting, Lisl, as long as there are boats to sail. I could have stood there and watched for hours.

Oh, these are skills on their own - I like your series about the Zuiderzee museum very much! Are you preparing your travel to Atlanta - by plane or by sailing ship?
Ginnie Hart: You're most kind, Philine. I know that has been a long series but we're almost at the end (one more on Monday).

And yes, we're starting our piles for our suitcases and are definitely in count-down! We'll be flying British Air (Amsterdam to London and then to Atlanta) for our first time ever and are quite curious to compare it to our other experiences.

Sail-making - a lost art or just an underground activity these days Ginnie?
Ginnie Hart: Well, it WAS at the open-air museum, Chris, so I imagine it was how things used to be...but surely not a lost art???? I hope not!
Looks like the tool bag was made from an off-cut! Excellent picture Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: One does wonder about such things, Bill. smile Thank you.
excellent!!! amitiƩs
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, JP.

I see a load of old rope Ginnie. Have a fine weekend.
Ginnie Hart: Enough rope to sail a ship, Chad?! smile You, too, have a great weekend.
I usually get around to mending my sails on the weekend.
Ginnie Hart: Actually, that's a good point, Mary!
Beautiful shot as always, Ginnie.
Have a great weekend.
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, dear Pauline.

Oh yes, the weekend! I don't care; I'm on holiday smile looks like proper rope and canvas sails - wonderful smile I like the little tool hold all, too.
Ginnie Hart: For some of us almost every day is like the weekend, Alan. But I try to be senstive to those of you who don't always have that luxury (like Astrid, too).
There's some really interesting 'stuff' laid out here Ginnie, and that tool holder is really great, so much nicer than modern plastic ones.
Ginnie Hart: As we often say, Brian, there's nothing quite like the good ol' days! smile

That looks a big job, wonderful textures and shapes
Ginnie Hart: A huge job, I'm sure, Anne, but "someone's got to do it!" HA! I have a feeling Astrid would love working in such a place and using such tools. So would I.
An essential task!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed!
So crisp Ginnie.....love the B&W ....great photo
Ginnie Hart: Many kind thanks, Shane...and so good to see you again!
Great! And the perfect words for a great shot. That museum has everything! Have a great weekend!
Ginnie Hart: If we did nothing else, we could take our guests to this open-air museum, Robin, and by the time they were done, they'd feel like they had seen the real Netherlands. smile

Bottled water lurking in the background, interesting toolbag concept and a workbench/seat. All seems very productive.
Ginnie Hart: Definitely not all show with no go, Louis. smile
Love this cool shot!
Have a nice week end!

Wow, great capture Ginnie! Love this!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elizabeth. I'm catching up, as you see. smile
