A Mid-Week Break

I call this Philine's Squirrel because I never would have seen it

if she hadn't pointed it out to us while we were walking out-n-about in her neighborhood.

Deserve a place in The Chadwick Gutteridge Hall of Fame, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: HA We'll see what Chad thinks about that, Ray. smile
It is a delightful decoration Ginnie. We all miss details like this every day!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Bill. I'm just glad Philine knew it was there because I really would have missed it altogether.
Well thank you Philine! And thank you Ginnie! For such a wonderful image of him!
Ginnie Hart: I think Philine takes great pride in him, Elizabeth, as though he were hers. smile Thanks.

Somebody had fun making this little fella look alive. Wonderful details, both the wall and the squirrel.
Wonderful portrait of Philine's Squirrel smile
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, MLMA. They don't build corners of buildings like this anymore, do they!
Looks like the medieval-era water drainage wasn't enough.
Ginnie Hart: I think the squirrel is constantly surveying the situation to make sure it works, Michael. smile

A very fine thing indeed Ginnie

Ginnie Hart: Good point, JP!
Très belle fresque. Mais tellement dommage qu'une gouttière la traverse. Parfois l'architecture a des faiblesses...
Ginnie Hart: I can see your point, Marie, but I didn't see it as a negative thing...just something that helps draw attention to the beauty. But now that you mention it, I'm sure it did not originally have a gutter pipe going through it! (sigh)

What a lovely carving. I'm sure I miss a lot more than I see. Philine has a good eye for detail.
Ginnie Hart: There is so much to see, Alan, it's just not possible to see it all...unless you have someone from the neighborhood to point it out to you!

Oh, this is a wonderful close-up of this beautiful squirrel at the rain pipe of the 'Sugar-Villa' -and Chad should put this fine photo into his gutteridge collection! (I myself once posted a pic of this animal in a collage - but you can now forget it) Heel bedankt, Ginnie, for this delight!
Ginnie Hart: I just love that you pointed it out to us on our walk, Philine, because I never would have seen it otherwise. So thank YOU!
nicely spotted smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Joshi.

Oh how sweet and charming Ginnie, a little honest gutteridge pipe quietly going about its business.
Ginnie Hart: We all figured you'd like it, Chad. smile Thanks.
Good to see the workmanship, which serves no more function than pleasure! A fine shot Ginnie smile
Ginnie Hart: So very true, Martin. When did function start to trump pleasure, I wonder??? Thanks.
What a find, Ginnie. A builder with a sense of humour.
Ginnie Hart: Oh, yes, Mary. Where did they all go????
Isn't that great? As a pipe fitting though,I think you could use an old saying,it's over egging the pudding. smile
Ginnie Hart: I don't know that saying, Frank, but I think I can figure it out! smile
He's wonderful, Ginnie. Gorgeous detail in the carving.
Ginnie Hart: You can see why Philine is so proud of it, Pauline. smile Thanks.
nice one Ginnie.. well taken.. and well spotted Philine!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks to you and Philine both. smile

Wonderful details, dont think many are made this way nowadays.. which is sad sad
Ginnie Hart: So true, Sarito. So true! We're all into mass production these days, instead of artistic craftsmanship.
It certainly has the charm factor, Ginnie. It almost appears to be carved from the same stone as the building. We all should be as fortunate to have someone like Philine to accompany us on our out-n-about walks; she has an excellent eye that's for sure.
Ginnie Hart: You've nailed it all, Beverly!!! Thank you.
Aw... this playful squirrel is so cute.
But which came first?
The corner stone or the rain water downpipe? wink
Ginnie Hart: My guess is the pipe was added after the fact, right, LC? Kinda sad in one way but then good that they didn't destroy the carving.
Isn't this just terrific, well done Philine for showing it to you. It is also a lot more attractive than some of the Gargoyles we et on buildings over here.
Ginnie Hart: It love it in every way, Brian. And Philine knows us well enough to point it out to us!
What a nice detail. Looks like a newer addition?
Ginnie Hart: It's hard to tell what came first, John...but I'm guessing the pipe came after the fact.
I bet Chad will enjoy it Ginnie! Great capture.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Richard! He did.
Excellent detail photo! good shot! Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Roland.
Well, that's convenient... tongue
Nice spotting Ginnie... smile
Ginnie Hart: It's fun, Sudipto, isn't it! smile Thanks.
a very eye photographer, congratulations
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Keyouest.
original détail...
Ginnie Hart: I've never seen anything like it, Olivier!
A lovely bit of architectural detail. Well spotten Philine, well taken Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sheila. I was so glad Philine pointed him out. smile

I think that is actually a guttersnipe.
Ginnie Hart: You would surely know more about such things, Louis! smile
I love that the old buildings there are pieces of art.
Ginnie Hart: I do, too, Michael!!!
