A Mid-Week Break

Isn't it time to play ball yet?

Nearby by where we live in Gorinchem, NL

In case you missed it yesterday, Ray was our guest at Vision and Verb!

It's not a fun read....but worth every word.

I love the light play, Ginnie...the tree shadows seem to be playing ball.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ray. Now that you mention it, the trees have already begun to play ball! I took this image on February 2 and the buds are now all out.
Terrific shadow play!!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Elizabeth. And that was back on February 2!
Very quiet without kids around.
Ginnie Hart: That was back in early February, Michael, so I'm guessing things are now starting to pick up a little bit...with temps some days in the 50sF.
The branches are playing with Mr. Sun. : )
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Jacquelyn. At least someone is playing. smile
Great shot...i like all the showdows bring cast on the ground
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Shane. And that was back in early February, a month ago.

I am struck by how rarely you have people in your pictures, Ginnie. Though this one would wouldn't work with people in it
Ginnie Hart: Believe it or not, Lisl, there was a very small man to the right of this image but he didn't balance the image properly, so I cropped him oput. How did you know? smile

Is it still to cold to play out side.Hope it warms up a little we visit Italy in six weeks
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Adrian, this image is from February 2 when it WAS still chilly. Nowadays we're hovering around 50F...very nice weather for playing ball. You'll have no problem in Italy 6 weeks from now, I'm sure.

It looks rather wintery - no green, no colours - no children -only impressive shadows and a dream of spring may come!
Ginnie Hart: This was back on February 2, Philine. By now things have warmed up into the 50sF, as you know. I'm guessing this was full of kids this past weekend! smile

Wonderful early light here. I enjoy this route over and over again. It is never the same. Soon the Chestnuts will be in bloom. Love your choice of B&W.
Ginnie Hart: Harstikke bedankt, MLMA. This was back on February 2, over a month ago. I'm guessing a lot of kids have been playing there these last days!

Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Roland. Things are coming back to life these warmer days!

I like the shadows very much. What game is played here; I don't recognise the nets. I read Ray's V & V posting; very moving.
Ginnie Hart: They're soccer goals, Alan. It's also a skateboard park. As the weather warms up, this will fill up with activity!

I hope you let Ray know you read his moving post. Thank you.
Excellent b&w Ginnie. Ray's V&V yesterday was a powerful piece of reporting
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir. And yes...Ray never disappoints!
Love the shadows Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Mick.

Beautiful light, inviting for a walk.

Thanks for the invitation to Ray's piece, on my way ...
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ruthie. Ray knows how to pack a punch, doesn't he!

Comme chez moi ton image donne une grande place aux arbres nus, que j'aime beaucoup. Et ton traitement noir et blanc est réussi, bravo Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind, Marie. Merci.

I read Ray's piece yesterdag Ginnie, and excellent piece but quite sad and thought provoking. Your photo todag is marvellous in a Blackdogian way.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Chad, it was a powerful piece. You could say it smacked us all upside the head!

And I must say thank you for such a nice compliment today!
Almost!
Nice wintry long shadows!
Ginnie Hart: This was actually a month ago, LC, and things have picked up quite a bit with temps now reaching 45-55 F this past week. Nice.
There's been some brilliant B.& W.here lately, especially now Mike is back full time, and this is among the very best of those. I also read the V.& V., I don't think there are words adequate to explain how that story makes one feel, I almost feel tempted to approach our Minister to let me include it in the church newsletter but I suspect he would feel, perhaps like me, that some members of the fellowship would not be entirely happy for me to do so.
Ginnie Hart: You're most kind, Brian. Every so often I like to try my hand at B&W. I probably should try it more often! smile

Ray's post really smacked us all upside the head. Actually, I think the church needs it more than anyone, to be honest. Shame on those who wouldn't want to read and have their hearts broken...and then try to effect change!
Almost time Ginnie... summer is round the corner! lovely shot by the way
Ginnie Hart: I think it's actually time here, Ronky, by the look of it these last few days. Spring has sprung here in Dutchland! Thanks.
Wonderful to see more of your work in b&w!
Ginnie Hart: You're most kind, Robin. Maybe I should try it more often?! smile
Wonderful light/shadow play Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Richard. The shadows were what first caught my eye in this place!
superb B&W great and fine art!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Olivier.
They are a lot closer to playing ball in Gorinchem then in Moonbeam Ginnie... but it's March break here and our grandkids are out at the lake playing snowballs..
same game as when we were young....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: This was over a month ago, Peter, and I'm sure now there's a lot more going on. Spring has fully sprung here with many sunny days in the 50-55 F range. It's been delightful.
That is superb black and white. The loneliness of an empty playground.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Michael. It really did stand out that day!

Un joli N&B
JP
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, JP.
The contrasts are striking, Ginnie, and have shown up so crisp & clear in this brilliant B&W. Love how you've captured the solitary & deserted feel of the place in winter.

Brian's fear that some members of his church would not like reading the reality of life for this girl as Ray has written it makes me sad and a little more than mad. What a terrible reflection it casts on those church members.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Beverly, for your kind compliment. And as regards Brian's comeent about his church people, it enrages me. You and I are on the same page!!! No wonder these terrible things never change!!?!!
Lovely B&W Ginnie - roller skate hockey? Ray doesn't pull his punches... and while the girls on the street suffer, the bankers pay themselves millions - no doubt in Bangladesh as everywhere else.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Tom. Skateboarding for sure, and soccer. I've even seen someone batting a tennis ball attached to a strong rubberband. smile

Ray's post has smacked us all upside the head. It actually makes me very angry, especially when you make your good point!

Lovely lighting and shadows.
Ginnie Hart: Many kind thanks, Cherry.
As the grey days, the rainy days, in daytime sad which gives a wonderful W/B. With a magnificent luminosity...
Ginnie Hart: Many kind thanks, Mathilde. This was taken in early February, so by now there's a lot more action going on. In fact, you could say spring has sprung here in the Netherlands!
