I love the treatment on this - it "feels" dusty and old... as it should be! I'll check V&V tomorrow! smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Elizabeth. It makes a great setting for some of the reenacted rooms around the castle.

Well, I can't kick off my clogs (don't possess any), but I will try kicking off whatever I have on my feet today, and see what happens, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Let me know what happens, Lisl. grin And thank you kindly for stopping over at V&V and commenting there. That means the world to me.

I thought this must be Astrid's shoe collection Ginnie, clogs for all occasions
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! That's a good one, Chris. But Astrid would at least paint some of them different colors/designs. grin
i absolutely love the textures to be seen all around, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ayush. I love these reenactments of former days/times.

Great treatment of the klompen. Footloose and fancy free is something we don't have a saying for in Dutch. I do know what is means....
LOL @Chris, I do own a pair and they walk great.
Ginnie Hart: Nothing anywhere is like the Dutch klompen, in my estimation. So soulful to me. smile Hartstikke bedankt, MLMA.

a feel of homeliness - in slot Loevestein (in Dutchland, of course) we experienced only from outside and in the thickest fog - later I'll read your post at V&V ...
Ginnie Hart: We got there just before it closed, Philine, and didn't have time to enter these soldiers' quarters. Next time, maybe! Bedankt.
Love the picture. I'll catch up with V&V later
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.

Love the effect on this ginnie. Are clogs comfy to wear?
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Sarah. Astrid says she wore clogs her entire 11th year of school, just to be different. I have seen farmers wear them, some of whom come into the grocery store with them on. I've seen street workers wear them. So, yes, I do believe they're quite comfortable, if you're used to them...and very protective! Even warm! smile

One of my favourite castles Ginnie, I love the trademark brown tinge you use.
Ginnie Hart: This image was actually taken the day you and Chris were there, Chad. And I THANK YOU for your compliment.

I think of Dutch wooden shoes as brightly painted. These unpainted ones fit your style better.
Ginnie Hart: Well, you might have a point, Mary. smile Thanks.

A timeless image. Good plan to footloose and fancy free at this time of year- well, actually, any time of the year smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Alan, and I so agree.
Your excellent treatment suits this image to a T, Ginnie. Love how that single wooden shoe got separated from its mate on the bench and has fallen on its side on the board below.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Beverly, and especially for noticing the little details! smile
Nice presentation, Ginnie - imagine wearing those at any time of year!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Tom, and YES. I actually see them being worn from time to time...like last year when a young 20-ish guy was helping to repair a brick road...and the guy I see from time to time in the grocery store. It amazes me that they can really be comfortable, but Astrid assures me they are!
wow, those must be Dutch living in the Orient...
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! Yes, indeed, JC. grin

Wonderful grittiness to this excellent image, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Ray!
This looks to be the Dutch version of old, and it is a terrific image, I wish I'd have taken it.
Ginnie Hart: Very kind of you, Brian! Thank you.
Makes a really nice subject. Sack cloth and clogs, a good combination.
Ginnie Hart: Getting down to the nitty-gritty of life, John! smile Thanks.
I used to wear this style of shoe when I worked In the kitchens, nice PPing Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Are you serious, Mick? Wow. You're a good Dutchman, then! smile Thanks.
Wonderful timeless image Ginnie! I really like your treatment.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Richard.
Lovely rustic feel to this Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Janet. I guess that's what castles are all about, right? smile
Nice treatment,Ginnie,I had a pair of wooden clogs one time, clogs were common around our area,my Grandma wore them all the time.
Ginnie Hart: I'm really getting my education today, Frank. Mick also said he wore them when he worked in the kitchens. I had no clue you English wore them at all!!! Thanks.
He he! How strange!
I just posted some cheeky cow slippers from Holland. And I see these wooden clogs here?!

This is no pure coincidence, right? wink
Ginnie Hart: Now that you mention it, LC, you're right!!! No coincidences ever!!! smile

Lovely composition and photo treatment.
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Cherry.
Nice find Ginnie. Does anyone still wear the wooden shoes anymore? Easy to pop in and out of.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Jacquelyn, and oh, yes. Once in awhile I'll see someone wearing them for real...like while working on street repair or in the garden. Perfect for such jobs! smile
This is a superb image Ginnie... i feel sorry for the one with only one foot....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Peter, but guess what...the other clog is there...just on the floor. HA!
An iconic image. Beautiful.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Michael. More Dutch you cannot get. smile
Wonderful photo!
Ginnie Hart: Many kind thanks, Roland. Merci.
This must be in Holland, and indeed it is. A nice brown composition.
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Wim. Just across the river from us here where we live. smile
I love the texture that the picture provides. Nice, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Many kind thanks, Hollie.
Like the monochromatic scheme.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
Great picture composition and tones!
