The Writing on the Wall

Virginia is NOT Trim.

(only Shutterchancers will "get" it, I'm afraid)

Culemborg, NL

Addendum:  this refers to Chad's series on our own Richard Trim.

I should have also mentioned something about Virginia Slims and Trim.  HA!

I am not sure I get it, Ginnie...but, I love it!
Ginnie Hart: Uh-Oh. When the SCers don't get it, something's wrong. I'm referring to Chad's recent series on Trim (as in Richard) whose name he found on walls and bags and stores and everywhere! http://gutteridge.shutterchance.com/image/2013/09/17/trim-week/

Great shot Ginnie! Are you referring to fat Americans by chance?
Ginnie Hart: Thnaks, Frances. If I were referring to fat Americans, I'd have to change my text to Virginia IS Trim. HA! (Ginnie comes from Virginia, of course.) Surely y'all remember the series Chad just finished on our good friend Richard Trim??? http://gutteridge.shutterchance.com/image/2013/09/17/trim-week/

Great title with a great picture. Love the selective colouring.
.....and I know that you are not Trim smile.....and don't smoke....
Ginnie Hart: "I don't smoke and I don't chew, and I don't go with them that do." HA! You just reminded me of that ditty from eons ago. And now I want to say something silly like, "Yes, Santa Claus. There is a Virginia! (And she's called Ginnie.)" grin
Another superb piece of work.
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Michael.

Oh, Ginnie, I know! A wonderful selective colouring -and we are in Nederland, your new home!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, we are in Dutchland, Philine...where apparently Virginia Cigarettes are smoked. I'm glad I don't smoke but I do quite enjoy whenever I see my name posted (as surely Sir Trim did in Chad's series).
Ha! That's a good one Ginnie! Though the streets look nice and clean... not sure Trim would allow the smoking!
Ginnie Hart: I wouldn't "allow" the smoking either, lizabeth, but it IS fun to see my name on a wall like that! smile Who would have thought I'd see a Virginia Cigarettes wall mural here in Dutchland?

Come to think of it, I should have made a connection to Virginia Slims in my reference to Trim. HA!

You would make a grand advertiser yourself, Ginnie, with the way you promote by colour
Ginnie Hart: You flatter me, Lisl (but don't stop!). smile Thank you. The only thing I can say is that I'm glad I don't smoke, even though I'm a Virginia Slim (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Slims).

She was a wonderful street image Ginnie even though what she was promoting is not entirely wholesome
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Chris. You know I'm not a smoker but it's always fun to see my name up somewhere. HA!
Funny to think that cigarettes were once glamorous. Wonderful names like State Express, Passing Clouds and, of course, Virginia Slims!
Ginnie Hart: I know, Bill. Virginia Slims go very well with Trim. HA!
Why is this paper bag called Trim suddenly getting all sorts of attention ... Hmmmm Famous for five seconds and then is forgotten
Ginnie Hart: A bit longer than 5 seconds, Richard, I'd dare say! smile

I like your treatment of this photograph Ginnie, and of course I remember it well.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sir Gutteridge. You, too, are famous, of course, in your own special way. smile
nice work done here Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Kind thanks, Rani.
Very good shot Ginnie, the selective colouring is a treat! smile
It's two years I've been off the smokes now!
Ginnie Hart: Thnaks, Martin, and GOOD FOR YOU. I'm very proud of anyone who has had the ability to stop smoking. THANK YOU for being good to yourself!
great find. but i think i have grown more accustomed to Ginnie; Virginia sounds somewhat stiff, like there should be a Ladyship somewhere around. nicely rendered in selective colouration
Ginnie Hart: You're right, Ayush. It would sound very strange if y'all started calling me Virginia. HA! But that's what I was called until I went away to college at age 18. Oh, and my family called me Boots, to further complicate things. smile A ladyship? Hmmm That might not be bad. grin

Lots to look at enjoy in this. I'm no idea where this is although being European judging by the architecture. Is cigarette advertising still allowed?
Ginnie Hart: This is in Culemborg, NL, near where we live, Alan. I just found out from Sheila on FB that cigarette advertizing is not allowed in Europe. But because this is a painted mural, I'm assuming it is "allowed?"
Being a novice SCer I don't quite get it, but in itself it's a great shot with exciting treatment.
Ginnie Hart: Our SC friend, Chad, just finished a long series of images with the name TRIM in them, Pauline...and that's in honor of Richard Trim who is another SCer.

Love it!
Ginnie Hart: grin
Nice shot, Virginia..smile I like the selective colour.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Frank. Sometimes it's quite nice to remember my real name. smile
Lots of different associations connected with this marvelous shot, Ginnie. I love the look of the cobblestones and how you can see to the far end of the street on the right.
Ginnie Hart: Did you see the windmill at the end, Beverly? grin Thanks. I love this tiny town where we took the Gents.
I bet you felt real good when you came across this Ginnie, but here's another one I bet you didn't know about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Virginia I used to make roll-ups with this sometimes, before I packed this awful habit up, sadly my son still does!!
Ginnie Hart: HA! No, I didn't know about THAT one, Brian. Good boy for stopping the nasty habit! smile

Ok, read the comments and get it, Ginnie! And the shot is a good one :o)
Ginnie Hart: It's fun, isn't it, Jennie. Thank you.
Perhaps I should do a series of appearances of Bliss. I know there's a candy bar by that name... smile
Ginnie Hart: I bet there's a LOT having to do with BLISS, Larry. What a great name to have. Kinda like Hart, right? smile
Love this! Perfect for the selective coloring!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, dear Robin.
stop smoking pot Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: I will, JC, when you do! HA!
Ha ha... Is it necessary to distinguish you and me?
I come here quite a lot, does it make me a Shutterchancee, Ms Shutterchancer? ;p
Ginnie Hart: But the question is, LC, did you know what I was talking about???? HA!

simply very good!
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind, Olivier. Thank you.
You wonderfully enhanced this advert with your treatment Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Richard.
She's a pretty "trim" Virginia smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! That works, Tom! smile
Nice Ginnie, makes smoking look attractive
Ginnie Hart: (sigh) That's one negative thing to say about advertizing, John. I hate it.
a nice inough street. The advert is a work of art now. I remember the square cardboard boxes of these 'English' cigarettes. My dad used to smoke them until he switched to Camels.
Ginnie Hart: I guess the cigarette advert isn't banned, Wim, because it's a painting? I wonder. I'm just glad it's still there, even though I don't smoke!
