Like a Norman Rockwell. Love it.
Ginnie Hart: Most kind of you, Bonnie. Thank you.

Very good, Ginnie.

The body language suggests the fish are not very enthusiastic.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ray. I actually think they had just caught a fish (which I didn't see) because it was very fishy-smelling when I first arrived and there was quite a commotion amongst them. But then things settled down to this. smile

Simply stunning Ginnie! I have to agree with Ray this is like a Norman Rockwell. I love it. smile
Ginnie Hart: You're most kind, too, Frances (it was Bonnie). Thank you!
You have to realize how lucky they are to be doing that and not playing some video game.

Nice shot, by the way.
Ginnie Hart: You are so right, Michael! Thank you.
An eternal scene...
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Larry. I think you're right. smile

it's nice to see kids doing this and not cooped up indoors playing their video games and what not.. smile
Ginnie Hart: You are so right, Rian!
Timeless, Ginnie - Good catch and wonderful in B&W!
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Elizabeth.

I'm intrigued to see the boys fishing. Though they don't look like they would be thrilled about that, it can change any minute and then there will be adventure and thrill and perhaps fun... And of course, the film "A River Runs Through It" came into my mind as soon as I saw the capture. smile
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Petra. "A River Runs Through It" is a great movie for this...though this is more like a little pond formed by the Merwede river nearby. Thank you.

This is a nice old fashioned thing to do Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Yes, it is, Chris. Astrid keeps telling me we're gonna do it one of these days/years! smile

You can tell which one has just caught the fish, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: You're a true fisherwoman, then, Lisl! smile
What perfect day to spend a summers afternoon with your friends, I hope they caught something! A timeless photo in B&W.
Ginnie Hart: I was delighted to come across this scene, Will, because it felt so timeless to me. It's not something we see much of anymore, especially in America. Sad but true.
When I was a kid we all went fishing , now they all stay in and play on their computers. We are going on a fishing holiday in September with Ryan and his mum and dad.Cant wait.Nice shot Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I was delighted to come upon this scene, Mick. We need to see our kids still playing outside, yes! I can just see you teaching Ryan all the tricks. Teach him well!
They have the air of lads who know what they are doing. A fine picture Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: They did seem to know what they were doing, Bill. Astrid always tell me they do pole fishing here, so I got to see it firsthand.

...so where's the boat? wink No idea who Norman Rockwell is so off to Google in moment. Let's hope the boys continue with their outdoor interests.
Ginnie Hart: No boat, Alan, because I'd rather be fishing. HA! Norman Rockwell is known for painting everyday "normal" scenes of life from our bygone eras. Nostalgia, in other words. smile

Ah... "Rockwell is most famous for the cover illustrations of everyday life scenarios he created for The Saturday Evening Post magazine for more than four decades" Now I know smile
Ginnie Hart: Yup. That's the one, Alan! smile

Boys having fun eh Ginnie. I never got into fishing but did lark about a bit.
Ginnie Hart: Astrid keeps promising me we will do this one day, Chad. smile
So would I, a fine capture of these boys engrossed in the noble art.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Martin. I never say NO to fishing, when the opportunity arises. smile
The kids won't be catching very big fish in that pond... smile
Lovely capture Ginnie...
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Sudipto. This little pond is an inlet from the big Merwede river nearby, so I wouldn't be surprised if a few big ones came in from time to time. smile

A perfect summer's day! Love this happy...hopeful scene and image!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Marcie. It's sure nice to see the boys outside, doing what we all used to do before the age of the internet!

I don't know if I've ever seen this in the flesh, only in movies. I just listened to the Diane Rehm show yesterday in which the guest talked about her new book: The Big Disconnect, about her concerns as a developmental psychologist that screen technologies are taking us over. Michael Rawluk is right on. Wonderful photo!
Ginnie Hart: I know, Ruth. Sad but true. Thankfully it's still in the Dutch psyche to GO OUTSIDE whenever the weather permits! Thank you.

So lovely
Nice scene in BW
Great joy and fun
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Helys, and, YES. I'm glad kids are still doing it!
Absolutely super picture Ginnie, this is how my son got into fishing, it's never been a pastime of mine to be honest. he caught an absolute monster Carp the other day, and two smaller ones, he was so pleased.
Ginnie Hart: I guess if you have a couple of neighborhood kids who get you going, Brian, you can learn all kinds of things apart from your parents. HA!

I love to see children doing this, they all look so content on a warm sunny day, beautiful capture smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Linda. It's so good to have you back!!! Let's go fishing! smile
You may have shot this in the Netherlands, Ginnie, but what immediately came to mind when I saw it was Opie and some friends fishing in Mayberry.
Ginnie Hart: Awwww. So true, Beverly, and I didn't even think of that. It does seem timeless, doesn't it!
Looks like the fishing bug has got to them Ginnie. Great way for them to spend some time in the summer isn't it
Ginnie Hart: School will start soon enough, Janet, so I hope they get their fill, yes! Thanks.

Such concentration. Like my own boys when visiting their Dutch grandma.

BTW fishy smelling and young boys, don't necessary mean they caught a fish.
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA. Thanks for putting me straight on the fishy smell, Louis. And, yes, I'm sure this would be a familiar scene to you.
Where's Boots?
Funny, this shot reminded me of you and your siblings... smile
Ginnie Hart: You have a very good memory, LC. It's downright scary. grin
I used to like doing that as a lad, introduced to angling by my grandfather. Teaches patience and observation.
Ginnie Hart: I 'spect anyone who has fond memories of this grows up to be an excellent photographer, John! smile

They look as if they have got all the gear, much better than virtual fishing smile
Ginnie Hart: The real deal, for sure, Anne. They even smelled fishy! smile
A timeless shot, Ginnie,very nice.
Ginnie Hart: Many kind thanks, Frank.
I wonder if they caught anything?
Ginnie Hart: There was a lot of scrambling around when I first arrived on the scene, Tom, which makes me think they had just caught something...but I think they threw it back. smile

Wonderful capture of this timeless scene Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Richard. Merci.
So adorable. Reminds me of my childhood fishing at our family pond!
Ginnie Hart: Any child with such memories has got to be happy now, Robin, I pray!
nice and fun to do it smile

It is great to see these three boy fishing.
It still is a big thing here.
....and yes indeed, I plan for us to go fishing (next year) smile
Great shot and I love the B&W.
Ginnie Hart: We need to see kids still doing these ageless pasttimes, MLMA! And I will make sure I hold you to our doing it soon! That will be so much fun. smile Bedankt.
another good shot ginnnie

I wonder which of them has a hankering to be Brad Pitt! - like Petra, that film came into my mind.

A lovely atmospheric shot.
Ginnie Hart: I will always think of that movie now whenever I see this shot, George. We actually have the movie. smile Thank you.
