Night Watch

This is the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, NL, on a sunny day, actually.

A little play on words and image, since Rembrandt's Night Watch is there.

(The "stars" are debris in the canal.)

Brilliant! I love the treatment very artsy.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Frances. I figured the Rijksmuseum needed something special. smile
Excellent capture! It has the feel of the old part of Quebec City at night. wink
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Sue, and yes, I can see it! I loved seeing Quebec City from where we were docked on the big ship several years back.
nice effect! thought it was actually all twisted like a haunted house ...
Ginnie Hart: The ripple effect, Dennis? smile Thanks.
That's really extraordinary Ginnie!! I love this!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Elizabeth.

Fabulous picture. Reflections are so beautiful, the ripples give such a special 'treatment' to this picture.
Great colours.
After a renovation of 10 years, we will be able to see the Nacht Wacht (Night Watch) Sunday the 14th of April 2013

Ginnie Hart: It is always wonderful to see this iconic landmark in Amsterdam, MLMA. We are very lucky to be so close by. Maybe one day we will actually go visit it inside together! smile Bedankt.

Unlike my Flak tower, this building looks on the verge of collapse Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, you do have a point, Sir Chad! smile
Looks like we have both been for a walk along a canal, very arty farty Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Mick. And just look at the different stories we manage to tell! grin

What fun!! Love the watery effect. It almost looks like a reflection.
Ginnie Hart: This is a reflection, Marcie, of course, in the canal next to the Rijksmuseum. Then I had to turn it upside down.... smile It was fun.

Brilliant capture - I was fortunate to see the Night Watch here just before it was slashed in 1975
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Anne. It's a humongous masterpiece, of course. It takes your breath away. I was lucky to see it several years ago before they stated the museum renovation. It's been hidden from the public eye for 10 years!

Quite remarkable! Could start a series of postcards, all reflections, since there are so many landmarks on rivers. Really cool.
Ginnie Hart: That's so true about all the landmarks in Amsterdam that could be shown off by their reflections. Thanks, sister!

This is superb, Ginnie. Just enough movement to give a "wobbly jelly" feel and the "starts" are fabulous. A top shot.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir. I had fun with this one. smile
Brilliant reflection Ginnie! smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
I'm astonished at the vibrancy of the colours and how clear the reflection is, Ginnie. The canal water must be very clean, indeed.
Ginnie Hart: I can't speak to the cleanliness of the water, Beverly, but I sure had fun seeing how this came out. smile Thanks.
I think we would have been intrigued by the 'stars'. A nice reflection. The "Rijks" will open in a couple of months!!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Wim. I think it'll open on April 14th? Not that far away!
Awesome!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Robin! smile
Somewhere else I went during one of my two Amsterdam visits I mentioned the other day. At the time I was but a "callow youth" with no idea about art so didn't really appreciate what I was looking at inside.
Ginnie Hart: Me, too, Brian, and I want to go back with Astrid by my side. It'll be wonderful to see it all again with new eyes. Thanks.

great museum & collection by the way, and a nice way to portrait it Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Juan Carlos.
Wonderful, Ginnie. It was being refurbished when we visited and very few pictures were on display. We did see Night Watch though. This is a great representation.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Graeme. It was a 10-year renovation and everything will be opened up again on April 14. YAY.
Very dreamy, great capture Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Fred.
One of your best...
Ginnie Hart: That's sweet of you, Larry. Thank you kindly.

Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Larry...again. smile
I love it, Ginnie! I'm sure it is much more interesting than a "straight on" shot!
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Patrushka. You may be right. smile
That is beautifully done and I love the title.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir.
Right out of a scary movie set Ginnie... very cool!!

now this is really beautiful, love how the sky fades into the dark in this reflection.. great work! smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Rian. This was fun because of the play on words with Rembrandt's Night Watch painting. smile
