Dutch Carnaval 3/3

Every town (and cruise ship!) needs a fireman!  What do YOU want to be when you grow up?

Carnival in Europe reminds me of America's Halloween, minus the floats.

Gorinchem, Netherlands.

There were scads more kids all dressed up, which you can see here.

Adorable! What do I want to be when I finally grow up? As long as I can have my camera I'm a happy camper! smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Robin. It sounds like you want to be a photographer when you grow up. Lucky for you because you are a darn good one already!

Ginnie Hart: I thought so, too, Ray. smile

Wow! Ginnie I think your forte' is child portraits. You are able to capture the most precious expressions. Love the first one.
Ginnie Hart: You're most kind, Frances. Thank you. I do love it when I get these chances with kids. They're so innocent at this age. smile
I love the way that you captured this fine young fireman going about his job Ginnie...
God bless the children....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Peter. Indeed!
HAPPY!

Another wonderful collage - you've captured his spirit!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Elizabeth. He reminds me of what Sean Astin must have looked like when he was little. smile

He really looks the part - you can see what he will look like in 20 years' time
Ginnie Hart: I don't know if you're familiar with Sean Astin, Lisl...Sam in Lord of the Rings and many other movies...but I can picture him looking just like this when he was little:

One of the things you want to become when you grow up, Firefighter or Tram-Driver in Amsterdam......
I love this little firefighter.
The helmet sure makes this costume.
I found somebody who collects Fire-fighter-helmets, scroll down for the English.
http://www.brandweerhelmen.nl/
Nowadays the helmets are gold-plated for heat-resistance.
Great collage, you do them so well!
Ginnie Hart: The guy who collects the fire helmets is the same age as daughter Amy. How fun. I never once thought that this fella was wearing an American helmet. HA! He was such a cutie-pie! Hartstikke bedankt. (I'm glad you didn't end up being a firefighter OR a tram driver!)

a proper fireman -a wonderful collage - and precious facvial expression van dit lief mannetje! My brother wanted to be loco-driver, and I myself wanted to be doctor in the jungle of Lambarene at Albert Schweitzer (I had read all his books).
Ginnie Hart: It would be fun to find out what we all wanted to be, Philine. smile I love these wee ones and all their enthusiasm for life.
excellent collection of portraits. i like the one in which he is tipping his hard hat grin
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ayush. It's fun, isn't it! smile
SOOO cute! Especially the top left one. adorable. I also like how you made a collection of pictures.
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Reinhardt. I couldn't pick just one image, which is why I went the collage route.
You captured great expressions there Ginnie! Well done.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Richard. Merci.

A very fine illustration of the innocence of childhood Ginnie - lovely!
Ginnie Hart: Innocence is the right word, Chris. Thank you.
I'm sure he'd make a great fireman when he grows up. It looks like a really big event for the kids. Super bunch of collages on your blog Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Many thanks, Janet. I bet we all can remember back to those days. HA!

I'd settle for being sensible when I grow up but that's far too boring.. I'll go with "wild and whacky" smile He looks a natural in his make believe role.
Ginnie Hart: Thatg works for me, Alan! smile Thanks.
You've caught him just right Ginnie! In his world: he's become the fireman smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Martin. So fun to watch.
Ha the little princess in Dutch Carnaval 1/3 would probably think this fireboy was "smoking hot".
Ha ha pardon the pun.
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA! Good one, LC. grin
I wonder how may kids go through the fireman stage? grin
Ginnie Hart: HA! So true, Bill. grin
I've enjoyed these children picture Ginnie, obviously no complaints from parents when you took them, unlike over here. I've never heard the word "scads" before although I get its meaning.
Ginnie Hart: All the parents or g'parents seemed thrilled, Brian, which was some of the fun of it all. Thanks.
peut-être que ce sera un pompier !!!!!
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Angevine!
I already know ;-)
A nice series again Ginnie! What an open face he has.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Wim. You know and you chose well! Bedankt. smile

I'm really enjoying these collages that you're doing, Ginnie. I can tell you, I used to want to be an astronaut, but when I couldn't cut it in math class, I had to switch careers. tongue
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Emily. Thank you. Don't you hate when something like Math keeps you from doing what you want to do. sad Oh well. Maybe you wouldn't be a photographer today, however?
