This was an amazing place, but then Belgium is known for its beer.
Wonderful shot, love the choice of B&W...
smile You serve beer and I serve koffie today wink
TGIF.......
Ginnie Hart: HA! I love that we never know what each other is choosing for our images each time. Your koffie and my beer will last us the entire day. smile

get in early and there are plenty of tables...later it will not be so easy...that seems like a good reason the finish work early, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: It makes sense to me, Ray. It was late afternoon when we stopped in to take pictures. It's a couple of blocks away from the train station, so I'm sure it does indeed fill up throughout the evening.
Beautiful shot - I love all the geometric shapes, enhanced by the B&W, I think! Isn't every day Friday for you? smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Elizabeth, and yes, you do have a point about every day being Friday for retired me. HA! However, I am very keyed in to Astrid's weekly ryhthm and definitely know when it's Friday! smile
nice composition. i like the assortment of squares and rectangles made by the photo frames and the window panes.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Ayush. It's really a fun place just a couple of blocks from the train station.
Nice ambient lighting. I thought it was a cafe.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Michael. It actually IS a café, selling over 300 brands of beer...with food on the menu, too, of course.
What a wonderful old pub Ginnie... it looks even better in B&W....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: And to think all we did was go in to take pictures and then left! smile Thanks.

That looks a great place to relax, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: And to think we didn't even sit down, Lisl! We were on the way to our restaurant and wanted to stop in to take pictures, which they kindly let us do. Thanks.

A fine & civilised looking place Ginnie: the beer list is very impressive
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Chris. With over 300 beers to choose from, you could go back every day for a year...and then start all over again the next year! smile

Oh, this is a very fine and atmospheric photo I like very much! Here it is cool enough, the snow has come back overnight and all trees are softly covered with sugar.
Ginnie Hart: Even in the winter months a nice cold beer can be very refreshing, Philine, right?! We had a bit of snow yesterday but nothing stayed on the ground. Maybe tomorrow?
I could enjoy a beer here I think Ginnie smile
Ginnie Hart: Yes, you could, Bill. And with 300 labels to choose from, I'm sure you'd find a good one! smile
Superb capture of this cosy café Ginnie! I trust you enjoyed e beer there.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Richard. Actually, we were on our way to our restaurant and stopped in only to take pictures of this iconic spot in Antwerp.
yep, i'm exploring alcoholism as a career option... is it Friday already? that means it's almost next week, i don't want it to be almost next week *sucks thumb* nice shot Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Most of us aren't thinking about next week when Friday comes, Elaine. What's wrong with you?? grin HA! Thanks.
i'm getting a nasty type surgery thing on tuesday, so that's what's wrong with me lol... that among many other things that are wrong with me lol
Ginnie Hart: Ohhhhh. Please be careful, Elaine, and have faith!

Sorry I was so long Ginnie, I accidently pressed the wrong key on my board and lost my screen. I then ended up having to reload the pc - beware of windows 8. Anyway I can now see that I am not psychadelic at all.
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHA!. I knew you were going to be disappointed, Chad, so I decided to offer you a beer! grin

BTW, I haven't heard too much good yet about Windows 8. Hmmmm. I'm paying attention, in case my laptop breaks down anytime soon.
I like this Ginnie ...shame that there weren't any people in the place.
Ginnie Hart: It was mid-late afternoon, Richard, and even we didn't stay for a beer. It's one of Antwerp's icons, so we had to stop in to take pictures. But yes, I know what you mean. Thanks.
This photo is light and composition is perfect, a great black and white, good day Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir!
great shot, love the black and white
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Geert, for stopping by and commenting here!

Looks like a wonderful place to enjoy a ice cold beer Ginnie. Beautiful backlight and contrast between dark and light. Beautifully presented in b&w. Wishing both you and Astrid a great weekend !
Ginnie Hart: You're most kind, Laurette. Next time we'll actually stop and drink a beer! smile Thank you. Happy weekend to you, too.

What a beautiful bar. I love the light, the windows, the fixtures, the shiny tables and the framed posters on the wall. It is very inviting on a Friday, or any day! Great in B&W too. smile

Enjoy the weekend with Astrid!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Ruth! I can't believe we didn't stay long enough for a beer...but we were on our way to Wagamama! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. smile

Why aren't there any customers? This looks a great place for a beer smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, you can see there are some in the right corner...and there were others in the back room, Anne. But this was mid-late afternoon...not quite time for the crowd yet, I guess! smile
Thank you Ginnie! Wonderful shot smile
Ginnie Hart: You're welcome, Martin. Any time! smile Thanks.

A great idea for a Friday afternoon ritual. Wow.

I love this conversion - as if I can smell the wood polish. Likey.
Ginnie Hart: Wouldn't it be fun if we could all meet up any Friday we wanted at a place like this, Louis! smile Thanks.
Wow, Ginnie, you could do some serious beer sampling here. If the ambiance you've captured in this B&W is as cozy & welcoming as it appears and if I were living in Antwerp, I could easily become a regular patron.
Ginnie Hart: You would love it, Beverly. You can see why we had to go in, even at an unbusy time, to see it for ourselves! smile Thank you.

What a gorgeous...warm and inviting...timeless pub scene. Love it!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Marcie. What is it about Europe???! smile
I hope you just nipped in here for a coffee Ginnie,i like the image.I got the Fuji to do this sort of shot, its good at fast ISO settings.
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Mick, all we did was go in and ask if we could take pictures, which is what we did. We were on our way to our restaurant and opted not to get a beer. I know, stupid! smile

I have never been to Belgium, but imagine enjoying a nice drink there... would totally ove that. Is this one of your favourite places to hang out, Ginnie? Does it usually get busy? When I went to Ireland every bar was busy after 4 p.m.!
Ginnie Hart: This was the only time we were there, Emily, and purposely went in to take pictures because it's an Antwerp icon. I'm sure this place is full after 4 p.m. We were there just a bit before that. You'd love to take any of your friends therqe. smile
What a lovely bar, I could easily enjoy a beer or three in there, mine's a Jupiler, which sadly we can't get over here!!
Ginnie Hart: Just come see us here in the Netherlands, Brian, and we'll get you all the Jupiler you can drink! smile
Make mine a Trappist, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Great taste, Tom. A Dubble Trappist is Astrid's and my favorite! smile
Bonsoir Ginnie. Superb photo with a very nice texture. Great work Ginnie. Have a lovely night Ginnie. Amicalement Antoine.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Antoine. Merci.
I like the man trapped in the corner... smile
Ginnie Hart: Just to show it wasn't totally empty at that mid-afternoon time of the day, Larry! smile
I love this ambience, G!
I can easily spend the whole afternoon there eating mussels. Ha!
Ginnie Hart: The ambiance is definitely delightful, LC. And when you said mussels, I checked the menu and you're right. WOW. Astrid and I may go THERE the next time she wants them! (You and she can have them!)
Just got in, and I'm doing just that, Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Good for you, Graeme. It's never too late on a Friday! smile
agréable et RDV vers 17h au bar comme tous les samedis....
Ginnie Hart: And why not. It's something to look forward to each week! Merci.
Nice ambiance lighting Ginnie. I love bw processing and atmosphere of this kind of restaurant
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Marie. This was a fun place to visit! Merci.
I will Ginnie... we are so dumped on with snow... as is our whole province in Canada and lots of peops in the USA.
Ginnie Hart: I would love a huge dumping of snow one of these days/years, Jacquelyn. This part of the Netherlands rarely gets more than a dusting or 2-4 inches. Oh well, half a snow is better than none at all! smile
