Anupam is right, we have the same this year. After the weekend they predict warm rain again.
A real challenge to ride the bike under these conditions, but then, we grew up with it smile
Wonderful light and composition and I am always impressed with your titles.
Nog één dag en het is weekend smile
Ginnie Hart: When I saw this in my archives and noticed we have the same amount of snow, I figured Why Not! Bedankt, MLMA. YES, nog één dag!
Riding a bike on snow and ice is for the bike messengers that work in the big cities Ginnie... this is a nice bright day... i like it....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: In Holland, of course, it's a way of life everywhere, Peter, as you know. I think these were on a joy ride. smile Thanks.

I love this clear and crisp image
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Adrian.
I love the light, brightness in Your photo which makes winter / snow to be so beautiful.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Sartenada. There's nothing like sun on a brisk winter's day!

do lots of peeps ride bikes in the snow over there? i would love to get an electric assist bike for all year round... maybe next year smile very inspiring shot, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Elaine. The Dutch don't know of any time when they're NOT supposed to ride their bikes! Seriously. smile
''Nope ... This is far too dangerous for us ...and anyway we're lost.''
Ginnie Hart: HA! It does make you wonder, Richard. smile

Oh man, I used to ride my bike all the time ... but i found the seat really hurt my butt! LOL But I can only imagine a nice bike ride, with a nice crisp winter's air. Seems lovely. smile
Ginnie Hart: I guess when you do it long enough, your butt becomes acclimated, Emily?? HA! The Dutch seem to be fully acclimated. smile

I like the thin shadows - yes, a fine winter image, and we have still winter with heaps of snow and ice, today it is very cold! I'm still a bit suffering from my bronchitis, but the doctor is helping me to come up again.
Ginnie Hart: Even though this was from last year, Philine, it still looks like this now. I'm sorry you're still a bit under the weather. Pamper yourself and get well soon.,
This is lovely Ginnie, what brave cyclists!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Sally. Just leave it to the Dutch who do this all the time!
One has to go slowly but surely in those conditions Ginnie!
Wonderful capture.
Enjoy the weekend.
Ginnie Hart: Slowly but surely, indeed, Richard. It seems to be second nature for the Dutch! Thanks and have a great weekend yourself.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

May God be with you and bless you:
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune,
Rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness
From this day forward.

May the road rise up to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the warm rays of sun fall upon your home
And may the hand of a friend always be near.

May green be the grass you walk on,
May blue be the skies above you,
May pure be the joys that surround you,
May true be the hearts that love you.

It's a lovely Irish blessing isn't it?
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Bill. I've been looking up lots of Irish blessings lately because of an Irish friend, so this has been on the tip of my tongue lately. smile
Wonderful photo Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Roland.

It would be an interesting project to illustrate by more photos the first verse of that blessing Bill has kindly typed up for us
Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Lisl. I have been immersing myself lately in several of these Irish blessings...especially since I'm coloring Celtic designs again. smile

ça ne doit pas être facile de rester sur le vélo ! Je te souhaite une agréable journée
JP
Ginnie Hart: The Dutch seem to have a pretty good hang of it, JP. I have a feeling these guys were lost. smile
They are out there in all conditions aren't they. Lovely shot of this icy scene Ginnie and have a great weekend too. It's pouring with rain here
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Janet. The Dutch HAVE to be outside. It kills them if they are cooped up inside. Hopefully your rain will stop long enough for YOU to go outside soon! Thanks.

I like very much Bill's poem in your comments
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Marie. It's wonderful, isn't it...an Irish blessing!
A wintry sun - it really looks cold!
Ginnie Hart: Not far from where you live, Wim, at the time we visited you last year! smile
A lovely image Ginnie! I do like the winter's light smile Have a great weekend!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir!

From a cyclists point-of-view I never quite figured out that Oirish expression. Sure it should be 'may the road DROP down to meet you' I guess that logic never was a key part of old adages.

Anyway, a super shot - and happy weekend to you both.
Ginnie Hart: HA! A true Irishman if I ever saw one, George. grin Thanks for the smile.

A great picture.

I think that's what we say when we fall off the bikes smile The snow looks like its ride-able; ours just got verrrryyyy icy! It's all gone now, though sad
Ginnie Hart: HA! I think you're right, Alan. Supposedly ours will be gone in the next day or two. We'll see. Thanks.
A fine shot and Bills beaten me to it re the Irish Blessing, a lovely song that I sang many times in the choir I used to be in, to this version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oe8b42m_K80
Ginnie Hart: I had no idea this was a song, Brian, so I'm delighted to have the link. YAY. Thank you!

This is a very beautiful pathway smile
Ginnie Hart: Out in the boonies, Cherry...where I most love to be in this beautiful country...as in yours! Thanks.
Not really suitable weather for bikes! Lovely shot, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: I'm afraid the Dutch never pay attention to what's suitable or not, Tom. sad I just think these fellas were lost. smile
Our roads are snowy today--great excuse to stay home...
Ginnie Hart: HA! The school kids always love it, I know, Larry! Why not us! Those were the days. smile
Bicycles are so quintessentially Dutch! ;o)
You have a great weekend!
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, LC. You can barely live without a bicycle here, for sure! You're born on one, if you're Dutch! grin Thanks.
I used to love riding my bike on ice - such a challenge! Lovely Ginnie! Have a wonderful weekend!
Ginnie Hart: Those were the days, Elizabeth, weren't they. We were such dare-devils. smile Thanks.
oh une surprise en me levant ce matin,j'ai aussi une couche de neige...
Ginnie Hart: Our snow all melted yesterday, Angevine. We'll now have several days way above freezing. (sigh)
Superbe lumière, j'aime beaucoup smile)
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Olivier. Merci.
Our snow makes bicycling impossible. That is very nicely shot.
Ginnie Hart: I wonder if the Dutch could figure out your snow, Michael?

May the wind be always at your back. On old Irish blessing which you will need if you try to ride your bicycle on the snow.
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Helen! I've been reading lots of Irish blessings lately. smile
Here is such an inviting path, expertly framed by the pattern of trees. I like the blues in the shadows too :^) Hope you are having a wonderful weekend Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Doug. This is the part of Holland I love, off the beaten path. We had a great weekend, thanks!
