Very cool pic.. where is this place? May be we can go over there on weekends..
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Anupam. We live in Gorinchem and this is the polder outside the city on the way to our favorite pannenkoeken restaurant. Where do YOU live??? It's always fun to meet up with bloggers.

Beautiful image, Ginnie.

The sun has lost nearly all of its potency.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ray. The sun is definitely petering out on the year. Let's hope it gets a new set of lungs next week!

smile It is fun to know that Robin knows where this is.
I love that road, whatever season it is. A nice road to a nice treat, pannenkoeken......smile
Fabulous picture, knowing that you took this from the driving car.
Love the sunset and the ice on the canal.

Ginnie Hart: I LOVE that Robin recogizes this place. And if she had seen your link, she would have recognized the table where we sat in the corner! Harstikke bedankt, MLMA!
But what a magnificent way to end the year Ginnie... this is so serene....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Any time we need therapy, Peter, we drive out into the polder! Thank you.

funny how a sun flare in a winter picture makes it seem so much colder lol kind of a photographic oxymoron smile lovely picture, and Happy New Year you two!
Ginnie Hart: And it was are only snow of the season thus far, Elaine, which helped. smile Thanks.

A wonderful path along the canals through the Dutch polderland - and what a wonderful light - I love your photo and would like to accompany you at your evening walk! Yes, the year is setting, a fine titel, we know the phrase: between the years for these last days, time to bring some thinks in order, to sort out, to plan, to reflect ...
Ginnie Hart: Yes, inderdaad, Philine. A time of reflection before we start off another year! Hartstille bedankt.

Ooooerr... looks like you have winter weather. Here is is so mlld and wet (just for a change). I like the sun competing through the bare trees and the shadows.
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Alan, this was from a couple weeks ago. This week we're a good 10 degrees or more above freezing. So yes, we're having milder temps, too. Thanks.
le côté droit semble fondre avec ce soleil....
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Angevine. It didn't take long for all of it to melt the next day! Merci.

This picture could be looking back at the old year, or looking into the New Year, Ginnie. A lot for thought, but I read that yours is looking back
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Lisl. The sun was setting in this image and I felt it was an appropriate way to say the year, too, is "setting." A new year (and sun) will rise soon! smile

A wonderful image ... and for me it's a catalyst for the future.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Richard. Kinda like the polder, in the middle of nowhere...or no-man's land before the New Year strikes.

This is wintry Ginnie but we know now the longer days are just over the horizon. I like the light & slanting shadows here
Ginnie Hart: And this was a couple weeks ago, too, Chris, with our only snow of the season thus far. Just a dusting. It's all gone now, of course. But yes, the longer days are coming. Thanks.
What a beautiful lane to walk - even on a chilly day! The sun is setting on many things isn't it! smile
Ginnie Hart: The sun is definitely setting on many things, Elizabeth! Let it now rise anew. smile

For me New Year is the solstice Ginnie. I cannot fathom the significance of 1st January apart from the cockeyed way the calendar works and we now count another year in progress. We have been heading back to the sun and the light and for me we have turned the corner of the old year and are now in a new one. That is just how I feel anyway.
Ginnie Hart: Good for you, Chad. A true heathen. grin I like that!

This place is heaven. Since learning about the polder(s) from you I long for them, even the word itself is beautiful. Happy New Year to you and Astrid.

(Guess what? my word verification is 'wknds'wink
Ginnie Hart: Ohhhhhhh. You'll love it here, Ruth, when you see it. There's nothing like for me...so therapeutic. Thank you. And how koinky-dink to have that word verification! smile

An early morning walk. The cold air is almost hurting your lungs, but you feel so fresh. A fresh way to wind down.
Ginnie Hart: You know, Louis. I don't even need to say another word! Bedankt.
A bright and sparkly day for your wish, Ginnie. For you, I wish some snow. PEI missed this last storm that has hit the US and most of eastern and Atlantic Canada. We got a couple of cm. only.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Mary. This dusting from a couple weeks ago is all we have had thus far this deason. I do hope more will come before spring. smile
Lovely low lighting Ginnie, I could really enjoy a stroll along here.
Ginnie Hart: Late afternoon is such a lovely time now, Brian. Thanks.
It has been quite a year in the UK. Queenie's 60th, both sets of Olympics and Ange and I both getting our passports renewed.
Ginnie Hart: Now just wait for 2013, Bill!!!!! grin We can hardly wait.
Another scene, Ginnie, where I feel I could just hop into the image and walk the length of that tree-lined path. You've captured the atmosphere brilliantly.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Beverly!
A wonderful evocation of the Dutch landscape, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: As Astrid would say, more Dutch you cannot get! Thanks, Tom.

It's a near-start weekend x

Looks like a nice walk, Ginnie. Sunny, crisp ...and flat!
Ginnie Hart: We were in the car, Graeme, but it IS a good walk....and definitely flat! I love this polder! Thanks.

The best part of the end of a year is the dreams we have of the Hew. Happy New Year, Ginnie.
