Love the tophat, Ginnie...blackdog or not...
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ray. I LOVE the period dress of these Christmas markets!
great shot, how appropriate that the word 'hot' should be visible. great touch!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Ayush. So are you saying he/this is a "hot shot?" grin

This is what I mean about the German Christmas markets, you get the real stuff, like this scene.
Fabulous shot and I love the tones.
Blackdog indeed, did not know he had a side job.....
Ginnie Hart: You're, right, MLMA. The Dutch don't do it like this! The Germans know how to get into the true spirit of the season/period. Bedankt.
I can almost smell them. Nicely shot.
Ginnie Hart: I love chestnuts, Michael, and this is one of the reasons why I go to the Christmas markets each year! smile Thanks.
Wonderful shot Ginnie... love the top hat....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Peter. I love that they get into the period like this!

He may be dressed in black but this is still a Christmassy image Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: When you're all dressed up with somewhere to go, sometimes the color is black...even at Christmas. smile I love it. Thanks, Chris.

Bet they taste good, Ginnie. Like your picture very much
Ginnie Hart: They tasted great, Lisl. I can only eat 3 or 4 at any one time, but they sure are good when they come hot off the grill like that! Thanks.

'HeiĂźe Maronen' -oh, I love them and tried them some days ago - a fine photograph! You can see them roasting chestnuts at every Christmas Market here in MS.
Ginnie Hart: I tell Astrid every year that I will look for the chestnuts, Philine! smile I can't eat more than 3 or 4 at a time but I do love them. I did NOT grow up with them, so they are a real treat for me. Bedankt.
I wish I liked chestnuts wink I like the picture though
Ginnie Hart: Sometimes it's the ethos that counts, Bill, right?! smile Thanks.

A classic scene for the season. He could have dressed in some festive colours (but - PLEASE - not a Santa outfit!).
Ginnie Hart: I have a feeling black was "classic" in his day, Alan. Especially the top hat?! smile Thanks.
Yummy, roasted chestnuts!
Who can possibly resist them. ;o)

But I have to say I like his top hat.
OMG, don't you think he looks like Colonel Sanders?! Ha ha!
Ginnie Hart: Colonel Sanders, indeed. HAHAHA! I thought he looked familiar, LC. grin

I love roast chestnuts Ginnie, I can imagine the smell and flavour of these. Did you buy any?
Ginnie Hart: I love them, too, Chad. Yes, we did buy some but not from this particular vendor. It's always the thing I look forward to almost the most whenever we go to Germany at this time of the year!
super en plus la teinte du cliché,comme si tu avais aussi grillé le cliché en marron...
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Angevine. Merci.
They taste so good roasted like this. Microwaving is OK but a poor substitue for the real thing.
Ginnie Hart: I can't imagine microwaving them, Sheila. But yes, this is the real thing! Thanks.
A fine character shot Ginnie! smile I've never tried roasted chestnuts, I'll have to give them a go!
Ginnie Hart: I never had the opportunity to try them, Martin, until my late 50s. If I can get them once a year now, I'm a happy camper. They're very filling! Thanks.
Lovely festive shot Ginnie. We can never resist roasted chestnuts and always buy in a lot
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Janet. Part of it for me is SEEING the roasting being done. It's not an American thing, even though I had sung about it every year growing up. I just never experienced it!

Ginnie Hart: Yes, indeed, Juan Carlos. smile Thanks.
I hope you bought a bag to enjoy!
Ginnie Hart: We bought half a bag, Mary, because Astrid isn't keen on them and I can eat only so many of them at a time. It worked for me. smile

Lovely shot Ginnie, sadly a delicacy not to be found in Ireland!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, George. I never experienced them in America, either, though I would imagine someone does it in NYC or Chicago or??? That's why I'm so thrilled to experience it here in Europe.
Fine shot Ginnie, I'll have a bag each for Maureen and me please.
Ginnie Hart: HA! I'll remember that for the next time, Brian! grin Thanks.
I'd be happy to have a few of those right now in freezing Vilnius!
Ginnie Hart: I could have saved some for you, Tom. Next time. smile

I can hear the beautiful Christmas carol which bears the title of your photo because I know perfectly. I love this time of preparation for Christmas
Ginnie Hart: It's one of those songs that had no meaning for me till I saw these chestnut vendors in my later years, Marie. At least now I know! Merci.
I bet these were very nice!
The man holds the lid like a shield looking a bit suspicious.
Ginnie Hart: I know you are familiar with these markets and reenactments, Wim. It was fun to see again. Bedankt.

Chaud les marrons!!! Magnifique portrait. Chez nous en Ardèche nous produisons beaucoup de châtaignes pour faire de la farine, de la confiture ou des marrons glacés!!! Belle soirée Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Flour or jam from chestnuts, Tede??? Now that would be an experience! Thanks for expanding my education. smile Merci.
You nailed that one Ginnie! What a fabulous "action" shot!
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Robin. Thank you.
I'll have a bag, please.
Ginnie Hart: Exactly, Graeme. smile Thanks.
