Brace Yourself

In case you're anywhere near Black Friday in America!

At Blists Hill Victorian Town, Ironbridge, England, in May.

Astrid and I will be driving to Antwerp, BE, today for a 2-day holiday!

Happy Weekend to all.

I am avoiding department stores on Friday. Walmart opens at 8 pm **Thursday night** Lucky you in a sensible country. Rant over. This is a very good picture!
Ginnie Hart: This is the part of America I do NOT miss, Larry. smile Have a great weekend.

This is heroic braceidge Ginnie. Have a good time in Antwerp and bring back lots of pictures - both of you!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Chris, and we're definitely all geared up! smile
Well that would keep us grounded in a hurricane Ginnie... rust makes superb pictures....petersmile
Ginnie Hart: Hopefully we'll all keep our heads screwed on in these last days of 2012, Peter! Thanks.

I don't know what it is- but I admire your fine treatment so that it could be an art sculpture. Do enjoy Antwerp -it is a fascinating town -and you should visit the Jewish orthodox quarter (but no photographs!) -and the new museum at the Schelde!
Ginnie Hart: I don't know what it is either, Philine, but let's hope it means we all keep our heads screwed on tight these remaining days of 2012. We're really looking forward to Antwerp. We both were there separately years ago but will now enjoy seeing it together. Thanks for your recommendations.

We will loosen up in Antwerp with some goodies wink
Great DOF and colors.
Ginnie Hart: Hartstikke bedankt, MLMA. Yes, we will really loosen up. smile HA! I'm looking forward to it.
Have a great time in Antwerp. The idea of Black Friday makes me want to hibernate grin
Ginnie Hart: We'll go to Antwerp, Bill, and you can hibernate! Sounds like a deal. smile

A typical Ginnie picture! Have a great weekend, both of you
Ginnie Hart: Hmmmm. I'll have to think about that, Lisl. grin Thanks.
I'm always inspired by your ideas for a good shot Ginnie... I'd never imagine to take one like this... I'd most likely walk right past it.
Ginnie Hart: You're very kind, Jacquelyn. I'm humbled and honored. Thank you.
Dull but no black Friday here today Ginnie!
Enjoy your stay in Antwerp, a city I do like very much.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Richard. We've just had a full day walking around the centrum and eating mussels (Astrid, that is). It rained in the morning but has been dry since. Tomorrow we'll walk around in the train station area.

A cracking shot Ginnie with wonderful clarity and details.
Wishing you and Astrid a beautiful drive to Antwep. Enjoy !!!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Laurette. So far so good. We've had a full day and are now resting before another day tomorrow! smile
..a question of balance, I suppose!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Juan Carlos. Always!
I could of put Bills camera and bear under this and then nipped the nuts up, have a good break ladies.
Ginnie Hart: You wouldn't think of doing such a thing, Mick. I know you! smile Thanks.

I have read the other comments and remember that it is excess shopping prior to a holiday. I am not sure if there is a holiday looming though. Enjoy your weekend in Antwerp. In England we say A twerp not An twerp.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Chad. It's that one crazy day when stores supposedly put things on sale for one day for Christmas shopping. It's pure craziness. We'll enjoy Antwerp (A Twerp, HA!) instead. Thanks.

Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Vintage. We will. smile
Ha... Already open season?!
Hurry we gotta hunt for the best bargains!
You guys shopping for Christmas in Antwerp? ;o)
Don't forget my pressie!
Been a good boy this year. ;o)
Ginnie Hart: No presents for us or you, LC, I'm afraid. Well, we did buy a Belgium beer in a crock bottle (which we collect) and a very specual bread from a quaint bakery. But that's. Astrid had mussels, though, and was in heaven! smile

Are you really a BOY? All this time I thought you were a girl! Please set me straight!

Now I always thought that Thanksgiving was the last Thursday on November - obviously not! Good basic engineering here.
Ginnie Hart: Actually, Alan, you're right...but this November has 5 Thursdays and 5 Fridays. Very unusual. So it's the 4th Thursday of November that's the Thanksgiving holiday. Now that we have that figured out...thanks.
Replacement of 'belt and braces' by 'braced bolts'.

Good image Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Makes sense to me, Richard. Of course, we call those suspenders where I come from. smile Thanks.
Have a great time Ginnie. This is bracing stuff
Ginnie Hart: Thnaks, Janet. smile Fun.

Ginnie Hart: HA! Thayt's a good way to look at this, George. Thank you. And yes, our first day in Antwerp was great. Looking forward to another day today!
A great shot Ginnie, love the textures and colours! One day of xmas shopping is enough - the eve grin
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Martin. One day is enough...but I would NOT choose Black Friday! sad
Great picture. Enjoy Antwerp.
Ginnie Hart: Thnak you, kind sir. So far it's been great. Another day getting started soon.
Nice city, Antwerp - enjoy yourselves!
Ginnie Hart: We're having a blast thus far, Tom. Thanks.
Stayed home today, Ginnie! Off for Small Business Saturday tomorrow though (er, I guess it's today for you! Dang time zones!) Fantastic image, as usual.
Ginnie Hart: It is indeed Saturday for us right now...and soon we'll be off on our second day here in Antwerp. It's been a great trip thus far. Ask Astrid about her mussels! grin

Isn't it amazing how you can take a simple ordinary subject and make it something magnificent? Very nice!!
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Helen. Thank you.
Stores are trying to import Black Friday into Canada. Scary.
That is a very cool shot. Now, enjoy your holiday.

This is a remarkable contraption, well photographed!
Have a lot of fun in Antwerp!
Ginnie Hart: Hartstikke bedankt, Wim. I'm a glutton for stuff like this. smile And yes, we had a great time in Antwerp, in spite of the rain. It's only an hour's drive away...and well worth going at least once a year for the mussels for Astrid. smile

Too perfect to be casual - make a confession, Ginnie, did you screw out the nut? wink

Great shot indeed.
Ginnie Hart: I actually didn't even touch it, Petra. Seriously. smile Thanks.
Avoid the crowd. Shop online. That's why they invented Cyber Monday.

Works unless you need to fit for clothes. Or don't have Paypal.
Ginnie Hart: Actualy, Michael, I so agree. I do almost all my shopping online...and sometimes send things to my statesdie address where I pick them up in October every year. HA!
your signature treatment. a commonplace finding elevated to a superb image
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Ayush. Thank you.
