I keep seeing dirty and soiled braces ... but perhaps that's just me smile
Ginnie Hart: HA! Could be braces, Geoff, for all I know. smile

een fijne observatie -and surely a very useful thing that deserves to bath in the sun for some moments of break and to get photographed by a charming lady!
Ginnie Hart: Awwww. You're such a sweetheart, Philine. smile Bedankt.

i've never seen straps like those before, i don't know what they are used for, so can't crack a joke or anything lol nice still life tho smile
Ginnie Hart: Who knows what it's used for, Elaine! Astrid is trying to find out. It may have to do with the loads dropped down by the cranes...but probably NOT suspenders/braces! HA.

What are they building Ginnie, houses, apartments, tower blocks, factories?
Ginnie Hart: Within walking distance from us, Chris, there are two apartment complexes going up. Gorinchem is a city hit by the recession like elsewhere but buildings were torn down and people already bought the new apartments before they were even built. It's an interesting mix of recession and growth!

You have a never-failing tresury of unusual shots, Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Lisl, but there's just a never-failing treasury of stuff to see all around me everywhere I go! Seriously.
minimalism, sharpness, linearity, geometry, what do you want more!!!!
Ginnie Hart: You are so kind, Fabrizio. Grazie.

I love the play of light and the play of lines. In a few months these apartments will be finished. A wonderful picture!!
Ginnie Hart: Hartstikke bedankt, MLMA. It's been so fun to watch this place grow out of nothing!
If the building industry is doing well then that's a good sign. Here the country is just strapped for cash grin
Ginnie Hart: We're strapped for cash here, too, Bill, but apparently these apartments were sold before they were built! They overlook the Merwede river, which makes them prime property, no matter what the recession!
Light is also under construction? What a wonderful tone of this picture ... We must write a small label .. "Attention light cool"! Superb composition ....
Ginnie Hart: Merci, dear Mathilde. I walk by this complex every week and see delightful things "growing." But when the sun is shining, it's heavenly!
As construction buble here exploded time ago, this kind of straps are in fashion among suicidal promoters and entrepeneurs. grin
Ginnie Hart: I'm sure you're right, Juan Carlos. The bubble exploded here, too, but in this case, these apartments overlooking the river were already bought long before the recession hit. Lucky for them, I guess!
Lovely colors and textures Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, dear Pavan.
I bet Mark Varley could do something interesting with this.
Ginnie Hart: Oh dear me, Chad. The very thought!!! grin
Are these your stocking garters Ginnie?
Ginnie Hart: HA! I'm still trying to sort them out, Richard. smile
Ha ha... Construction is a dirty job.
But sex and drugs sell better. grin Ha ha...

Look at Amsterdam, they sure know how to rip tourists off. A ha ha grin

Having said that, Amsterdam is still one of my favourites.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Indeed, LC, on all counts! grin Thanks.
nice still life it makes to me
Ginnie Hart: Bedankt, Chantal.

Wonderful lines in this...and such gorgeous light! Good to hear construction is booming somewhere!
Ginnie Hart: Recession is everywhere, Marcie, I'm sure. Even here. But apparently these apartments were purchased long before the ground was broken! Lucky for them. Thanks.

Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Vintage. We don't know what the straps are for either but I'm sure they're used for something. smile

Not strapped for cash then, I wonder if the French will upturn the apple cart in a right wing revolution.
Ginnie Hart: OMG, not the French, John. grin Actually, I think they're strapped for cash here, too, except that apparently these apartments were purchased even before the ground was broken! Lucky for them.

I see this as a start to an on-going series; "Work Place Still Life."
Ginnie Hart: For all the times I walk by there, Sue, I could definitely make a series. smile Thanks.
Very nice warm lighting Ginnie; when I first saw the image I thought of cowboys and the ranch scene smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Martin. And come to think of it, I can see the ranch scene! smile

Well spotted Ginni - excellent colours.
Well done !!!!
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Elsabe.
Lol at Chad's comment, we don't seem to have seen much of Marks "strange" images of late. Anyway I like this one, a good picture out of nothing very much if you get my meaning.
Ginnie Hart: Gotta watch out for those Marks, Brian. smile Thanks for your kind words, as always.
I like the way you've caught the sunlight hitting the wooden barrier and strap, Ginnie; it really gives a nice dimension to the darkened interior.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, dear Beverly.

Ginnie Hart: Let's hope it works magic, Peter. Rub your hand over the screen and wish yourself luck. grin Thanks.
I like this lovely light on the wood!

It seems Man will not rest until the world is re-constructed according to his vision, Ginnie.

[I am back after a couple of weeks in Northern India, where the construction business is in hyperdrive!]
Ginnie Hart: It's great to have you back, Ray! It's nice to know some places are in hyperdrive. Good for India!

Do you know what those straps are or what they'd be used for? It's pretty cool to find things like this, though. Normally, most people wouldn't be able to find something like that and capture it on camera. Beauty in small things. smile
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Emily. Our best guess is that the strap is used to secure materials that come up and down from the cranes. Can't think of any other reason for them. Hmmm.

You got a good eye for details. The material of the strap against the hard board and the lovely light, it all ends up as a very fine composition.

very pretty. the light and lines are excellent. good to hear your economy is picking up or should i say "stable" lol ... couldn't help it, ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: HA! Well, you may have heard in the news lately that Holland is almost bankrupt because of helping to bail out Greece. Something needs to happen to kick-start the country...like elsewhere around the world!
Very nice photo!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Victoria. Tack.

It's such a great sign when you see something happening with recession everywhere!
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Robin, you're right. We have recession here, too, but apparently these apartments were purchased long before they were built. I guess that helps!
i'm not even gonna ask !!!!
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHAHA! Good one, Dennis. grin
