Absolute fabulous piece of art. I love the collage of the 14 stations, in the link.
Have a great Easter weekend, a long weekend for us.
Ginnie Hart: It only took me 2 years to finally process this series of images, MLMA, but it's finally done in time for this Easter weekend. It seemed appropriate. It was such a dark church, compared to the protestant Maria Magdalena across the street. But these stations of the cross were well worth the visit. I'm glad we went in. Hartstikke bedankt!
Beautiful Ginnie. Just beautiful!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Elizabeth. I'm not Roman Catholic but found these stations of the cross to be some of the besat I've ever seen!
Wonderful framing and colors ... The details of the paintings are wonderful!
Saludos !!!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Eduardo. Gracias.
Happy Easter my friend! may the Lord Jesus come tickle your brain in your sleep tonight smile xoxoxoxox
Ginnie Hart: Happy Easter to you, too, Elaine. Tickle my brain? Now that's a new one.... smile

Thank you for this Ginnie: terrific painful stuff
Ginnie Hart: These stations of the cross are not part of my Protestant heritage, Chris, but I do find them to be magnificent. Thank you.

I love the words 'Zóó...liefgehad'- they sound quite dearer than the English words! -and a fine and touching presentation of one of the 14 stations. Yes, Goes must be a stadje I would like to visit one day - I wish you both a lovely and vro en zalig Pasen!
Ginnie Hart: Hartstikke bedankt, Philine. The Protestant church by the same name is right across the street from this church. We were able to go inside each one that day and were struck by the differences between the two. Besides all these paintings on the walls, this church was vewry dark. You would love the visit if you can ever go...in Zeeland Province.

We see stations of the Cross in some Protestant churches here, but I have never seen any as colourful as this
Ginnie Hart: All 14 stations were on the walls surrounding the nave of this Roman Catholic church, Lisl. It's something I didn't grow up with in my Protestant heritage. My guess is you get more of it in England than we do in America?
I like the eggs and the hot cross buns smile
Ginnie Hart: Don't we all grin
Happy Easter Ginnie!!!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Fabrizio. The same to you. Grazie.
Excellent Good Friday photo Ginnie... Easter blessings to you.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Jacquelyn. These stations of the cross have sat unprocessed in my files for 2 years. I was glad to finally work on them...after all the time I took walking around the church to capture them all! smile

Such a powerful painting. WOW!
Ginnie Hart: There were 14 of these on the walls of this church, Marcie, that blew me away...even though I didn't grow up with this tradition (stations of the cross). Thanks.
Appropriate for the day Ginnie we do celebrate Easter, great link as well.
Ginnie Hart: I grew uo celebrating Good Friday, Peter. We got out of school at noon and all went to a local church for a community service. Great memories! Thanks.
A good reminder about what this day is all about Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Chad. Since it happens only once a year, it made sense to draw attention to it!

Images of this nature are often difficult to capture; you have captured this beautifully. I can see why you were drawn to photograph the series.

It's as if the border around the painting is a 'crown of thorns.'

Happy Easter to you and Astrid.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Sue. I knew the painted border all around these "stations" remnided me of something but it wasn't until you mentioned "crown of thorns" that I immediately said YES. Exactly.
Happy Easter to you Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Mary. The same to you.
A posting that says everything about what today is about in the Christian calendar Ginnie. The church is a fine one with an interesting history and the artistry of the 14 stations is beautiful, I guess your really enjoyed finding this. We are singing the short anthem "God So Loved The World" from Stanier's Crucifixion at church on Sunday morning, a favourite of mine, I first sung it as a boy chorister x number of years ago.
Ginnie Hart: Even though I didn't grow up with these Stations of the Cross, Brian, I find them to be full of the story I heard all my life! I can just picture you singing in the choir on Sunday. Enjoy the season for what it is!
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful and very special occasion for that particular day
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Marie. Merci.
Superb composition with an excellent lighting. Very nice work Ginnie. Have a lovely day. Amicably Antoine.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Antoine. Merci.
A fabulous piece of art Ginnie.
Happy Easter to you and Astrid!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Richard. Merci.
Very interesting Ginnie, a combination of Niewe Kunst (De Stille Kracht) patterns & religious applications. Dutch design history is a marvelous chapter I have followed with admiration.
Ginnie Hart: It has been illuminating to me, Juan Carlos, to see all this through the Dutch eyes! Gracias.

Thank you Ginnie, and may your be a memorable one as well.

I.N.R.I. = "Iesvs Nazarenvs Rex Iudaeorvm." Old Latin for "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews". The 'v' in the latin can be replaced by 'u' and the 'I' can be replaced by a 'J' - it should make more sense then. The INRI was of course, old Pontius' contribution to the crucifiction.
Ginnie Hart: You're welcome, Louis. And thank YOU for the explanation of the Old Latin! Those were the days (Latin, that is!). smile
Your Dutch is getting better, G!
Do you have a private tutor? wink
Ginnie Hart: HAHAHAHAHA! I love it...because, YES, I do have a pricate tutor. And she's GOOD! grin
Happy Easter ladies.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir. The same to you and wifey!

This is beautiful.
Happy Easter to Astrid and you.
we just make it "gezellig" smile
Ginnie Hart: Harstikke bedankt, Fooko. One more day to enjoy the holiday! Astrid is so happy to be off 3 days in a row. smile
I remember being lucky to witness the stations of the cross processions in Southern Italy last year smile
Ginnie Hart: It's not something I grew up with, John, so I find myself staring! I'm sure seeing this in Italy would amaze me.
And the same Easter Greetings to you ladies...
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, kind sir. Today is also a holiday so we're still celebrating!
Good photo Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Roland. Merci.
Happy Easter! grin
x
Ginnie Hart: Since today is still officially Easter (Monday, the 2nd Easter Day), Happy Easter to you, too, Abby!
So enjoy the detail of this!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, Robin. It's so different from what I grew up with!
