Musical Chairs Boats

Wintry weekend harbor on a Gouda canal, with 't Slot windmill in the background.

Have a calm, restful weekend...and play a little music.

Gouda, Netherlands

Like an old postcard.

You have turned this scene into an instant old classic, Ginnie...beautiful and talented work.
Ginnie Hart: You're very generous, Ray. Thank you.
Lovely vintage looking image Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Elizabeth. Believe it or not, this is from last March when we were there but I thought it'd be good for Boat Friday! smile

Like a postcard of old times.
Absolute fabulous treatment, love the reflection in the water and the light on the boats.
We will play a little music and I will try to have a calm weekend.
Ginnie Hart: Even though this is from last March when we were there, I'm sure it still looks exactly like this. Hartstikke bedankt, MLMA. I'm sure we'll have a delightfully calm weekend!
As always the tones, mood and details are beautifully captured Ginnie
smile
Ginnie Hart: You're a sweetheart, Pavan. Thank you.

Oh, a dreamy, calm picture in your favourite sepia toning- yes, this is old merry Nederland! Ook jullie een prettig weekeind toegewenst! (Wim heeft ook een haven beeld vandaag gepost)
Ginnie Hart: Hartstikke bedankt, Philine. I told Wim if he wasn't careful, he'll become a member of Shutterchance's Boat Friday. smile
Burns night quiz for us tonight. Lots of Haggis!

Lovely peaceful scene to send us into the weekend Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: Enjoy your Haggis, Bill (and eat mine, too!). And then enjoy your weekend!

Makes me long for my vacation there in October... I like the weathered feel of it.
Ginnie Hart: How wonderfulk to see you, Dirk, here on SC! By any chance will you be bringing your dad with you in October??? Of course, the next best thing would be to see his son! When and where in October, I wonder. That's the month we are in America for 2 weeks...but you never know, if the timing is right....
I love all these half-tones that give a nice gentle atmosphere this photo
Ginnie Hart: Tank you kindly, Marie. Merci.
Feels like a bygone era... but I'd love to be there.
Ginnie Hart: I think these places look the same century after century, Jacquelyn! It still amazes me.

Your skilful editing makes this look like something from the archives in the late 19th century (not sure about some of the buildings being that old, though!)
Ginnie Hart: You're very generous, Alan. Thank you.

This is a terrific shot Ginnie: those barges are a real delight...as of course is the windmill...as of course is my little sis
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Chris. Your Little Sis would say, "More Dutch you cannot get!" smile
Lovely image, Ginnie - but I never did care much for its cheese smile
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Tom. The main thing is to pronounce it correctly. grin

Do these boats play a tune as they shuffle about Ginnie? have a great weekend yourselves.
Ginnie Hart: No, Chad, YOU play the tune as you run around picking one to land in. grin Enjoy your weekend.

Music will be played as my daughter will have her 21st. Previous weekend was my son's bachelors and music was played. I am now tired wink

Excellent picture that would encourage some of the old masters.
Ginnie Hart: Happy 21st to your daughter, Louis. That's a milestone for LOTS of music. You'll deserve to be tired after the weekend is over. smile

Thank you, always, for your generous encouragement.

So there's really a place called 'Gouda'? It's not just a cheese??? What gorgeous light in this scene and image!
Ginnie Hart: Oh yes, Marcie. smile Gouda, like Delft, is one of those big tourist cities here in the Netherlands. There is a huge cheese store in the city center where you see/buy TONS of Gouda cheese (and a thousand other varieties), surrouded by TONS of tourists. It's a fun place. smile Thanks.

To me this looks so Dutch Ginnie, the water looks really good.
Ginnie Hart: I know what you mean, Brian. As Astrid would say, "More Dutch you cannot get." Thanks.

How did you make it look like this? wink
Ginnie Hart: Thank you, LC. I actually did this one last March on a cold weekend, so I have no idea what I did other than my normal thing and adding a texture! grin I never do the same thing twice, which is the problem??

Beautiful image from your archives... it even has a vintage archival look to it!
