A Friday Sailor's Delight

While thousands milled around to see the tall ships,

some lucky souls just sat on board living life as usual.  Ho-hum.

I'm so interested in his glorious arrangement of sunflowers, and more flowers in the background I see.
Ginnie Hart: Astrid says there was a 'sail-out' of all the steamboats in honor of royalty there that day (Prince Alexander, she thinks). All of them had floral arrangements of one sort or another...some being arranged while we were there. They really make a big deal of this boat extravanganza! The sunflowers did remind me of you. smile
Having a leisurely look through the paper and enjoying the day. Sounds like a plan. Nicely spotted, Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Exactluy, Beverly. Sometimes it's just what the doctor ordered. Thank you.

ahh.. rich kids doing their usual stuff.. smile nice catch.. smile
Ginnie Hart: That reminds me of the salesmen in the computer company where I worked years ago, Rian, all of whom played golf and had become millionaires during the beginning of the dot.com years. This guy looks like one of them! So I'm sure you're right...a rich kid's arena! Thanks.

This is how life should be on a sunny Friday wink, great picture, I remember that all the steamboats had beautiful flower arrangements, I think there was later that day a sailing parade in that category of boats.
I love the PP.
TGIF...... smile
Ginnie Hart: I'm guessing he had already put in his hard work just to get to that spot on the Ij river, MLMA. Or maybe he WAS a rich kid, as Rian says, and he was doing what he does best...relaxing. We could have reached out and touched him...he was that close. Thanks.

He seems to be living a pretty perfect life Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: I wonder if this is his habit, Chris, or an illusion? smile
Now that's the life.
Ginnie Hart: Or as some would lead us to believe, Odd? It would be fun for a week, for sure. smile
I like the composition and light, it is very curious to see sunflowers on board. A+ VAL smile
Ginnie Hart: The steamboats were getting readuy for their own little procession through the Ij river, Valérie. Some of the Dutch royal family were going to be present. smile Merci.

Its a hard life, but somebody has to do it.Nice one Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: HA! I should have said that myself! grin Thanks.
I love this angle, like peaking over his shoulder...
Ginnie Hart: ...and reading the news we all missed! I got out my magnifying glass to read what he was reading. grin Bedankt, Chantal.
I love the sunflowers! Fine shot Ginnie

Have a nice weekend...it is a bank holiday here on Monday but I hope to be painting our new kitchen

Hi Ginnie. Superb capture. Light and colors are very beautiful. Excellent work Ginne. Have a lovely day Ginnie.
Ginnie Hart: Merci toujours, Antoine. Merci.
Lovely capture, Ginnie! The sense of relaxation seeps from the screen. Actually, that is my idea of how to enjoy a boat(ship), moored and moving as little as possibe. lol! (:o)
Ginnie Hart: You may be right, Roz. Sounds like a houseboat to me. grin Thanks.

Oh, this is a nice, peaceful , quiet, almost idyllic scene(with all these sunflowers)- and so typical for us- whilst we are enjoying our time sitting in the morning sun and reading our newspaper, the most terrible actions ("paniek") /did happen/are just happening in the world...!
Ginnie Hart: One easy step for getting off the merry-go-round, Philine, but still paying attention to what's happening elsewhere. (sigh)
Pfffff, what a waste of money once again!! One of the royals shows his face and HOPPA, throw in a couple of thousands to present them with some flowers, because there is absolutely nothing more interesting to watch at Sail Amsterdam, and yes that was meant sarcastically

Instead of giving that money to a well deserving cause like Pakistan!!

Like WA cares if there are flowers in his honour!!!

I am not a republican by the way, I love our royal family!

Having said all that (ranting more or less, but it really pisses me off to see such a waste of money) I have to add that I absolutely love your post processing here, as it gives that warm sunshine summer feeling to the picture, which is a really nice candid to start with.

Have a brilliant weekend G&A
Ginnie Hart: Since I don't come from a country of royalty, Marion, I observe these things a bit from a distance. Our UK friends know a bit more of it, too. I just sit here paying attention. smile In the meantime, thanks for your kind comment.

Ginnie Hart: Precies, Scarlet. smile Bedankt.
A very striking image Ginnie, with that light. Lovely. Have a good weekend yourself. There is a rumour going round that we might be in for some good weather here in the UK which will make a change.
Ginnie Hart: I wish good weather for you...and for us, too, Janet, though we have already had our fair share throughout the summer. This week it has rained every day, which has been most unusual. But yes, a few hours without rain would be nice. We were so lucky we had sun last weekend for this Sail! Thanks.

Ginnie Hart: Exactly, JJ. I think he had totally shut out the world around him.
Sun,flowers, chair, paper... what more does a guy need to relax, ah yes..The gentle rolling of the boat beneath him. Lovely shot, have a great weekend yourself Ginnie smile
Ginnie Hart: I wouldn't need much more than that, Linda, for sure. smile Thanks and say HI to "Matt." smile

It must be a hard life ;-) I would love to sit there for a while...
Ginnie Hart: I know, Frida. The life of Riley! We deserve it!
But I do seem to think you said the two of you also had a very relaxing day watching the ships Ginnie, just popping off a shot when something like this came into view I presume.
Ginnie Hart: On the day before this, Brian, we watched for 5 hours as the ships sailed in from the North Sea in Ijmuiden on their way across The Netherlands to Amsterdam. It was very relaxing! The day of this image was the next day in Amsterdam and wasn't as relaxing, but still fun.

One of my favs on your site, Ginnie. So many elements I could name....his watch, the rope under the greenery, his position, and wow on the tones. Everything is working here.
Ginnie Hart: You're very gracious, Sherie. It always amazes me what images are considered the favs of others. Thanks for your support.
Well done !
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Calusarus.

Happy Weekend Ginnie, what's on the agenda for the weekend.

I am just loving the sunflower bunch.

This is a perfect image to segue into the weekend.
Ginnie Hart: It's been a rainy week, Maria, so we have decided to just stay put this weekend and relax here at home...something we rarely do. It will probably feel good. smile Hope we all have just what the doctor ordered for us! smile

How unusual to have this giant bunch of flowers sitting there on a boat. Such a wonderful scene, I sure want to trade places with that guy!

Excellent processing too. Well done.
Ginnie Hart: Astrid says Prince Alexander was coming and they all were sprucing up for him. How sweet, right?! smile Thanks, Bob, for stopping by and commenting here. That means a lot.

Relaxing photo.

Thanks for looking at my prior blog entry. If you want to see an image of that same torii gate a couple of days after August 9, 1945 here is a link. It's a very devastating thought. Compared to what the same location looks like today in my photo.

tall ships are so exciting to see. i suppose, like anything else, you have to stop and catch your breath sometime!
so why not stick your foot into some coiled rope while you read the paper and see what happens?
Ginnie Hart: HA! Living on the dangerous side never hurt anyone for long, right, Sera! grin More and more I'm asking for forgiveness instead of permission. What a way to live. Thanks.

Ginnie Hart: Nice but probably not very realistic, right, Larry?! Thanks.
nice job when you can get it, missed the tall ships when they came to the north east of england, oh well another time
Ginnie Hart: It happens every 5 years here in Holland, Derek, so maybe we'll see it again, I don't know. If not, once is good enough, so I'm thankful for the once. I feel very fortunate. Thanks.
