There are two windmills inside the citadel of Gorinchem, Holland, where we live. One is De Hoop (= Hope), from my last post, and the other is Nooit Volmaarkt, presented here.
(photo taken yesterday on a bitterly cold but sunshiny day)
NOOIT VOLMAAKT (= never perfect/finished)
Or another way to say it: God's not finished with me yet. A good way to start off the new year, don't you think!

One of these days i will have to tour Holland. I think you should get an award for promoting tourism from the dutch ambassador. Was in Atlanta September 2009 an it rained cats and monkeys. There was flooding all over the place. I thought of swimming out to yours ut then i dont know where u live.
Anyway Happy new year. I will be in Atlanta again in April/May. Hope to see you.
Ginnie: You were in Atlanta in September, Busola???? I'm trying to remember if I knew that. Man! You perhaps haven't read/heard that I moved to Holland on December 5 and will only be going back to Atlanta to visit my kids from now on. A lot has happened since the SC BBQ meet-up in Sept. 2007...to both of us, I'm sure. Astrid and I now live together and are starting a new life and world here in Holland. I'm the happiest I've been in a long time. Are you?
Ginnie: You're a sweetheart, MA. This is a busy time of the year for anyone with children, I know. But the new year is now before us. May it bring us the challenges we need and the Peace of heart and mind and soul that will enables us to grow. Gelukkig Nieuwjaar.
Crisp and beautiful image, Ginnie, and I love the saturated colours on this occasion.
Ginnie: Thank you, Ray. Believe it or not, I did little in processing this image, other than the normal contrast and multiply layers. The day itself was its own best saturation! I love it when that happens.
It was a perfect day for walking and taking pictures, before you lived with me and when I passed this windmill, I thought of you and how many pictures you will take from this windmill, it is in our backyard, we are so fortunate.
This is a fabulous shot of Nooit Volmaakt, great composition, great radiant colours, I love seeing my/our country through your eyes.
You are right, God is not finished with us yet.
@ Young Jedi, I think you have to swim to the Netherlands to meet Ginnie...
Ginnie: I love seeing your country through my own eyes, Astrid. You know I do. I feel so lucky. And to have a windmill in our own backyard is as close to heaven as it gets. Dat weet jij. Young Jedi/Busola and I had the good pleasure of meeting at the SC BBQ meet-up in Sept. 2007 outside London, so I guess you could say I swam to him.
i like the 'God's not finished with me yet' thank you for bringing a smile to my face today... stunning pic!!
Ginnie: Sometimes we have to remind ourselves of that, Elaine, right? I tend to be too much of a perfectionist and need to be reminded that it's OKAY to not be perfect!!! Thanks.
Never finished reminds me of Tiff's bench Ginnie. I like the delicate signature here. So, New year - new country.I wish you all the best for 2010 and look forward to learning about your experiences - perhaps you shoul;d keep notes for you might wish to write a book one day.
Ginnie: So true, so true...the parallel to Tiff's bench! HA. This really did feel New Year-like to me, Chad...so much so, I switched my image because of it. Thank you much for your excitement for me/us here in our new place/life together. I'm sure we COULD write a book!
Ginnie: This one HAD to stay in full color, Chantal. Thanks.

een prachtig exemplaar van windmolen! En een mooie foto zodat ik enkele delen goed kan herkennen! I love the name of this mill- honestly, nothing is perfect, nobody is perfect or volmaakt- we human beans have to live with this experience and deficits!
We had also such a bitterly cold and sunshiny bright day yesterday- winterland- wonderland- heerlijk! I 'm surprised that we don't see more snow covering the mill! Or is the mill heated from inside?
Ginnie: Every time I see one of these windmills up close, Philine, I am amazed by the details. What is it about the molen! They are so soulful to me. This one is in our backyard almost, and will be a reminder to me often that it's okay to just be human, not something superhuman! I'm such a damn perfectionist!!! Anyway, God has a great sense of humor to start me off in my new life/world with such a windmill named Nooit Volmaakt.
Terrific colour, Ginnie - little processing, you say - amazing! I love the angularity of it.
Ginnie: The Multiply layer in PS really deepens the colors but other than that, and some contrast, it was that kind of a day, yes! Thank you kindly, Tom.
Wonderful capture Ginnie. The tones are superb!
We have the same sky here today.
Ginnie: When we get those skies during the winter, Richard, we have to grab them, right?! I see you also got the blue moon of December. You lucky stiff.

There are so many proverbs and phrases in Dutch concerning the windmolen:
"Daar is wat in de molen." meant: Some projects are called up (like Chris' bench...)
Ginnie: Astrid has been telling me so many of the phrases they have about molens, Philine. I love it. Thanks for the link, which I'll have her translate for me tonight after work.
Great shot Ginnie, you've had the same lovely blue winter sky as we have the other side of the North Sea by the look of it.
Ginnie: I think so, Brian, based on what others have said. When you get skies like that on either side of the Pond in the wintertime, you just have to grab them!
I like the sentiment of being an unfinished work in progress! Beautiful shot of this windmill. I like how you've moved in close to concentrate on the hub and tower. The result is a gorgeous, pristine looking shot.
Ginnie: A work in progress...we need to be reminded of that every day and not be so hard on ourselves (we who are perfectionists!). Thanks, Don.
fantastic! nice colors and details ... wouldn't one of these in my backyard! :-P
Ginnie: The thing is, Crash/Ryan...these are huge, usually 7 stories high. Once inside, you climb up one floor ater the other!

The colors are so vivid. I'd love to see the beauty of these in person someday. What you are experiencing over there must make certain parts of the states seem boring.
Ginnie: Well, Bob, I'm not sure there was much boring to me about the States...just different, as you know. Because the sights here are so European and not part of my upbringing, I probably notice them more. Astrid would say the reverse is true about what she sees whenever she's in the States.
