My Pride and Joy

My grandson, Nicholas (7), loves baseball and has had chances this season to play the catcher's position.
America's favorite pasttime starts very young, you know!

He is with us for the next several days because his mommy, my daughter, is getting married in Hawaii on Sunday.
We leave
on Wednesday to be with her and fiancÚ!

[Today I'm in Atlanta.]

Fabulous, Ginnie.
I didn't realise catchers wore so much protective gear...its a wonder he can catch when so heavily armoured.
Ginnie Hart: HA! He actually wasn't doing a thing except sitting there in this pre-season game, Ray. But he eventually learned how to stop the ball. smile So cute.

With the name on his helment he will be a star.
Ginnie Hart: I can't picture him being a catcher for long, Vintage, because he really doesn't have the body build. BUT he does love baseball and "gets" it. I can see him playing this sport for a long time. Thanks.

Reminds me of a movie my siblings and I used to watch over and over again..the Sandlot. Love the toning Ginnie
Ginnie Hart: That was a great movie, Etomi. I love watching these little kids get into sports. It's part of learning how to "play" in life!
That is a precious shot. One to dig out in a few years for his girlfriends.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Michael. I'm sure you're right. smile What a fun thought. Thanks.

Hi Ginnie! nice shot of the little guy. have a great time in Hawai'i! You remember, I got married on Kauai'i...we had such a great time!
Ginnie Hart: Your little fella will be this age before you know it, Alex! It IS hard to believe it's been a year since your own wedding in Hawaii. I'll send you good thoughts while we're there. smile

You are a proud G'ma, I know you are and this big catcher once will be the hero of the match....this is a sharp picture of him and do you know what.......by just looking at him I know he knows what to do, I used to be a catcher for many years.
Love the tones and your POV.
I think you should let him read al the comments when he is with you, greetings from Zelda wink
Ginnie Hart: You have seen Nicholas and me in action, lieve Astrid, so you know that I could just eat him up! I think about all the things you could teach him about being a catcher. Well, maybe one day you will. In the meantime, I'll have him read the comments. He'll get a kick outta them, for sure. Ontzettend bedankt.
il a l'air bien petit lui. mais, si ša se trouve, il est meilleurs que les adultes!
Ginnie Hart: Little kids in adult-like bodies! I know, O-P. It makes you look twice. smile

First I thought a little 'being'/E.T. from an other planet/"Stern", but h e is y o u r star and "proud and joy" here on our earth and h e is a star in his catchers' position, he may be very lucky about this star-photo! Good wishes for all your familiy, then I guess we will see the next wedding- photo!
Ginnie Hart: We grandmas get to pop all our buttons, Philine! It's our special heaven on earth. smile Thank you.

Ginnie Hart: He is awesome to me, John, of course. smile G'mas get to pop all their buttons! And thanks for the wishes for my daughter. We are so happy for her. She has found the love of her life.
A proud grandmother made a superb shot of her grandson. I really like the pose and the tones Ginnie!
Ginnie Hart: Awww. Thank you, dear Richard. This g'ma is very proud indeed! smile
Great shot of this strange gametongue I can feel the pride glowing from the picturesmile
Ginnie Hart: I know it must look strange to you, Bill, but this is the American pasttime, as you know by now. It's ingrained into our collective subconscious! smile

Is there someone in all of that clothing? I am sure there is? He looks very focussed on the game.

I love the colour (or lack thereof). It could be a recent photo, or one from days gone by - I love that!
Ginnie Hart: He's in there, Brian, but at that point in the season, I'm not sure he could see out of the mask! HA! He says it's his favorite position now. And yes, I did want to give it a timeless feeling, so thanks for noticing.

Nice shot Ginnie - he looks completely focused on the job in hand. Have a great time at the wedding.
Ingrid
Ginnie Hart: I think he's focused on trying to figure out the uniform, Ingrid! HA! That particular game he was just sitting there. Later on in the season he started "getting" it. smile Thanks for your kind wishes for the upcoming wedding. We're all very excited.

great shot, great moment to capture
Ginnie Hart: Thanks, Chantal. G'mas get to be proud, you know. smile
No sacrifice on your part, I'm sure. I remember all the baseball games of the past for my oldest son with great fondness.
Ginnie Hart: No sacrifice whatsoever, Mary! I could eat him up. Yes, you know the feeling (though it may be a bit different between g'son and son?).

Lovely capture, like the sepia.
Looking forward to the wedding pics.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, Aussie. There's always something to look forward to, it seems, even while living in the moment.
Great photo. Nick is almost falling over because of the bigness of the helmet.
Ginnie Hart: Yes, Wim, he is. grin But he sure enjoyed the feel of it because now he says it's his favorite position. Thanks.
oh wow ginnie. thay's a fantastic catch ! smile
Ginnie Hart: Well, what can a g'ma say! I just pop all my buttons whenever I see him play like this. smile Thanks, Alicia.
Hawaii eh Ginnie - sounds idyllic!
Ginnie Hart: It will be, I'm sure, Chris. We have been to the very spot where they will get married, so it's something to look forward to even more. Thanks.

Catcher! Tough spot. Matthew played it at that age and has since moved on to First Baseman. Ginnie, this is a superb shot. It deserves printing, matting, and framing.
Ginnie Hart: I don't think Nicholas will play that spot for long since he doesn't have the body build for it, IMHO. But it sure was fun to see him all suited up. smile Thanks, Sherri.

Wonderful portrait of a great player!
A fine choice of tones for this nice scene.
Ginnie Hart: Thank you kindly, Still. It was so fun to take his picture. smile

Ginnie Hart: We never stop traveling, JosÚ-Angel, you are so right. This trip to Hawaii is one of the biggest of them all...in meaning! Thanks.

This is a great shot Ginnie, he's so tiny ! Have fun at the wedding and don't forget to take your camera !
Ginnie Hart: HA! The camera is a permanent attachment by now, Johnny! grin You're a sweetheart.
Congratulations, on your grandson and daughter. You are very blessed and fortunate indeed. Great picture and hope the best for you and your family.
Ginnie Hart: Thanks a million, John. It's a happy time for us all as we anticipate the joyous celebration!

He's really got the gear down, doesn't he? And the squat looks pretty natural. Does he complain about sore knees afterwards?

It's so cool how you chronicle his comings and goings here.
Ginnie Hart: In this shot, Ruth, early season, he couldn't even see through the mask. It was a riot. But eventually he figured it out and even started catching the pitches thrown. Just wait till you have your own grandkids. grin

OK, if you say that is Nicholas I will believe you as you are not wont to lying. Heh, that helmet is a little oversized.

Great picture and composition.

Your "pride and joy" looks very much like a pro smile and he's a very lucky boy to have a granny such as you... "a memory's maker"...a collector of wonderful and great moments!
Hope you'll have a wonderful time in Hawaii!!
Ginnie Hart: You know how I work, Lina. It's the best gift I can give him: memories. Thank you.
The title: Sports Illustrated; The Peeweeleague!
And this is the front cover. You caught a nice moment there Ginnie.
Have fun in hawaii, the place is dream of every day. Can't wait to see those pics.
Ginnie Hart: You are such a sweetheart, Fausto. Thank you. The Hawaii pics are coming up. smile
I guess this will be a great pic for him to look at in some years

Regards From yogyakarta Indonesia.
Ginnie Hart: HA! I just adore him, Bram, but grandmas get to be prejudiced. smile Thanks.
