And the Oscar Goes To...

These tree disks, approximately 4-6 inches in diameter, remind me of the Oscars that are being handed out in Los Angeles during the wee hours of Monday morning, Hannover time. 

Back in October, 2005, these disks were given as entrance "tickets/passes"  to kids who brought their own stash of chestnuts and/or acorns for the winter feeding of the animals in the Tiergarten near our apartment.   They were a "prize" that gave the kids free access to activities and refreshments.  If I had had one as a kid, it would have been like an Oscar to me. 

BBC is our only English channel on our TV in Hannover.  I don't know if it'll be showing the 79th Annual Academy Awards but if so, I'll probably be up watching it!   If not, I'll be checking out today who the Oscars went to!

Ginnie: Well, I wasn't able to watch the Oscars last night, Dafredo, but I understand they'll be on BBC tonight. Yay! Of course, I already know who won, but still, the bling-bling will be fun. smile
I have to hurry up with my commenting. The Oscars are starting soon and I don't want to miss them. wink
Ginnie: So, Karen, did you watch them all the way through? David says they're be on BBC tonight, so I'll check it out. I know who won but that's not the same as watching!
Interesting shot, Ginnie. Now what is your connection to these tokens?
Ginnie: Believe it or not, Martin, these were in a wheelbarrow in the Tiergarten when I took pics of them, not having a clue what they were. Then I did a Google search and found out what they were and that these were probably left-overs. And then I thought that maybe they were there for the taking! But when I went back to grab one, they were all gone, lock, stock and barrow! He who hesitates is lost. sad
Think they do an Oscars thing tonight on the BBC, these look like the chips they are going to use at our new Super Casino!
Ginnie: Are you serious, David????? I sure hope you're right because I couldn't get it last night. Of course, I know now who won but I still would like to see at least some of the bling-bling.

These are cool, and it's fun photo! Reminds me of the coasters we've made slicing some of the fallen timbers around the farm. So, did you get to watch it? I'm pretty sleepy this morning, and I'm wondering if I'm getting too old to stay up that late . . . Helen Mirren was the knockout hit of the show, so it was worth it to see all that.
Ginnie: Coasters! Cool idea, Ruth. Did you have them at Farm Day? Because I don't remember them. No, I didn't watch the Oscars because I couldn't get the Internet program to work properly. But when Donica got up at 4:30, she was able to watch the last 2 hours. There was no way I could have made it that late. I hope David is right about BBC showing it tonight! I would especially like to see the Helen Mirren part. I'm thrilled that she won!!

Ginnie: Yes, Kedar--very nice, I thought. I sure hope you and David are right about the rerun tonight. If so, I'll definitely watch it. I did just hear, however, that it was not memorable at all, 4 hours long.

Ginnie: Thanks, Julia. And yes--our landlords told us it was the 3rd Oscar in 79 years for Germany. smile Bravo!
Norway got their second Oscar ever....hurra smile I like the crop and the way I loose any feeling of dimension, I thought they were a lot bigger before I read your comment to the pic smile
Ginnie: Bravo to Norway as well! I did hear on BBC today that this was one of the best international Oscars ever! That's the way it should be!

Tch - some company's performance awards - so why worry? You can have an Oscar for this picture ... who is Scorsese? If it was Ginnie I would gladly sit up until she has received her reward tongue

Ginnie: LOL, Louis. Your humor always makes me laugh! Lots of rain here in Hannover but since I'm working on my London pics, I don't care. I love to hear it whipping around as I type right now.
